The rules exist and they\u2019re clear. And most importantly, <strong>summer is not at risk<\/strong> (there\u2019s no real flight emergency this summer!), and if you travel with WeRoad, you also get some extra peace of mind.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"576\" data-end=\"741\">In this article, we\u2019ll clarify everything, from general regulations to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weroad.com\/travel-cancellation-policy\">WeRoad\u2019s cancellation policy<\/a>, designed to give you maximum flexibility even in uncertain times.<\/p>\n<h2>Trip canceled: when are you entitled to a refund?<\/h2>\n<p>The answer depends on who cancels and why. If the tour operator or airline cancels the trip &#8211; for any reason, including force majeure such as conflicts or natural disasters &#8211; the traveler is generally entitled to a full refund or an equivalent alternative. This is governed by the EU Package Travel Directive (2015\/2302) and, for flights, by <strong>UK Regulation 261\/2004 (UK261)<\/strong> for UK-departing flights or <strong>Regulation EC 261\/2004<\/strong> for EU-departing flights.<\/p>\n<p>If the traveler decides not to depart, refund conditions depend on the contract agreed upon at the time of booking.<\/p>\n<h2>How can I cancel my trip in case of war?<\/h2>\n<p>Recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weroad.com\/travel-alerts\">events in the Middle East<\/a> have brought this question back into focus. Just email <strong>booking@weroad.com<\/strong> attaching the airline&#8217;s communication.<\/p>\n<h2>When are you entitled to compensation for a canceled flight?<\/h2>\n<p>UK261 (and EC 261\/2004 for EU flights) establishes that, <strong>in the event of a canceled flight<\/strong>, the passenger is entitled to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Refund<\/strong> of the ticket price within 7 days, or<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rebooking<\/strong> on an alternative flight to the final destination, or<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial compensation<\/strong> of \u00a3220\u2013\u00a3520 (UK261) or \u20ac\/\u00a3\/$0250\u2013\u20ac\/\u00a3\/$0600 (EC 261\/2004) depending on the distance of the route, unless the cancellation is due to extraordinary circumstances (such as conflicts or extreme weather) beyond the carrier&#8217;s control.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is important to note that force majeure \u2014 including armed conflicts \u2014 may exclude the right to financial compensation, but not the right to a refund or rebooking.<\/p>\n<h2>Flight cancellation: what should you do?<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Keep all documentation received from the airline.<\/li>\n<li>Check the alternatives offered: you are entitled to an alternative flight within a reasonable time.<\/li>\n<li>Contact your tour operator if you booked a package: it is their responsibility to coordinate with the airline and propose solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Consider filing a complaint with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) if you believe your rights have not been respected.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>What if the flight is canceled due to a fuel shortage?<\/h2>\n<p>This is a rarer case, but not impossible.
