Itinerary
Travelling in India means coming to terms with oneself: no country in the world confronts us with so many differences - cultural, social, economic, and spiritual. This trip to India is an on-the-road tour of the Rajasthan region in the north of the country, discovering forts carved into the rock, ancient temples and colourful cities. We are in the land of the Maharajas, a vast territory rich in ancient legends and millenary traditions: we will travel from New Delhi to the blue city of Jodhpur, from the peace of Pushkar Lake to the teeming chaos of Delhi's markets, from the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal to Jaipur's Amber Fort.
We start in New Delhi, the noisy and overpopulated capital, which will be a strong first impact with Indian culture. But let's not get too accustomed to the traffic and the horns, because we're quickly moving towards a place of calm and peace: the enchanting Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the treasure of Agra, which will leave us astonished and breathless - especially if we can admire its splendour at dawn, which is the best time to enjoy this magical place. Here we will realise how India is a land of enormous contrast between wealth and poverty - we started our journey on the streets of New Delhi and through the alleys of its slums, today we are walking in the shadow of a white marble colossus. Our journey in northern India does not end here: we then proceed to Jaipur, the pink city where only leaping unicorns are missing to make everything even more magical; then it is the turn of Pushkar, with its lake, ghats and the only temple in the world dedicated to the God Brahma; and finally, there is Jodhpur, where we visit mausoleums and fortresses. This journey will bring us face to face with a reality very different from the one we live in our everyday lives and we will return home changed to the core. India is like that: it gets under your skin and never leaves.

Welcome to India!
Check-in: our adventure starts in Delhi
Round-trip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.
Check-in at the hotel in New Delhi and we gather for welcome meeting— click here to see how it works!. The initial impact can be disorienting, between the humid heat and the convulsive traffic of the city... but at least we get an immediate taste of India as we get to know each other! Let's also immediately try Indian cuisine, which is for strong stomachs: let's go easy on the spices for the moment, perhaps we can try rice and curry, one of the many typical flavours we'll try during out trip.

Exploring Old Delhi and on the road to Agra
Into the real India
We wake up early this morning: we have many things to do and see, so we don't want to waste any time! We explore the ancient city also known as Shahjahanabad - you can call it the old city, and that's fine too! We start at the Jama Masjd Mosque, pass by the Red Fort, and even admire a Sikh Temple - and who knows, maybe we'll have time to stop and eat right there! It will be the perfect time to get acquainted with Indian cuisine in the most authentic way possible - but we try not to fill our bellies right away because we will soon have to get back on the road to Agra, the final stop on this first day.

One of the seven wonders of the world: the Taj Mahal
At the Taj Mahal
It is still dark outside and we are already waiting: we are in the presence of one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the majestic Taj Mahal, the true treasure of Agra. Visiting it at this time of the morning, with the sun rising on the horizon and the light mist descending on the white marble will be a moment we will never forget. We enjoy these moments and breathe in the magic of this surreal place of eternal beauty.
We return to the hotel to recover from the early riser (and the excitement!) and then visit the Red Fort of Agra, another must-see here in the city, with its intricate architecture and impressive panoramic views, frescoed rooms, gardens with gilded pavilions and a few cute little monkeys passing through. Before lunch, however, we must get back on the road: the road to Jaipur is long but with a good playlist you will see that the journey will become a pleasure!

The Pink City of Jaipur
Discovering Jaipur
We'll have the full day dedicated to exploring Jaipur, known as the Pink City, the capital of Rajasthan. The facades of the houses are built of pink sandstone (hence, the nickname), and it appears to be surrounded by walls on which seven gates open. We will start with a visit to the Amber Fort: once on top, we will walk through the wonderful complex of courtyards and halls. On our itinerary, we will not fail to see the Hawa Mahal, a spectacular palace resembling a beehive, the City Palace, a complex of palaces and courtyards in Rajput style, and the spectacular Albert Hall.
After refreshments (we walked quite a bit without realising it!) we'll visit Jantar Mantar, the city's astronomical observatory built in 1700 - it will be interesting to discover the instruments used then! We then take a stroll through the market in search of spices and fine fabrics: we haggle to secure the most beautiful ones! Tonight, we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in local culture through food and it's a firm WeRoader favourite. We have an authentic dinner to look forward to where we'll witness local techniques from a local family as we join them in their homes for a wholesome dinner!

On the road to Pushkar
A long journey
Another early morning: we have to face a transfer to Pushkar, in the heart of Rajasthan. This small town, a Hindu pilgrimage destination, has a very special charm: walking through its streets we'll hear the regular rhythm of prayers and sacred chants, but it is not only the ear that will be enraptured, the eyes will be too! We join the Hindu pilgrims who walk along the lake and descend the steps of the many ghats to bathe in its waters, respectfully witnessing this spiritual and sacred moment.
A special sunset
We also explore the bazaar - let's get ready to quickly learn how to haggle with the Indians! It will be the perfect time to buy some local handicrafts, especially fabrics, incense and perfumes - but let's try not to fill up the rucksack immediately, we are only halfway through the trip!
The day continues and we still have one last mission to tackle: ascent to the Savitri Temple! From there, the sunset is something exceptional - and we are ready to enjoy it to the full!

Pushkar and Jodhpur
Free time
This morning we'll have time to enjoy the atmosphere of Pushkar. Shopping, a rejuvenating massage, or a yoga class: everyone is free to choose what they like! Then, we say goodbye to Pushkar and set off for Jodhpur , our next and final stop. It will be a long time in our minivan, but this is the last transfer of the trip, and we wanted to end with a bang! Don't forget to bring some food supplies - they'll definitely come in handy. We'll arrive in Jodhpur in the late afternoon, just in time to enjoy the view of the city's illuminated houses.

Cooking class and Jodhpur, the blue city
Fortresses, white marble and blue houses
After breakfast, we begin to explore the city: we are surrounded by huge fortifications and indigo-coloured buildings that make this place almost surreal. We visit the Jaswanth Thada, the white marble mausoleum reminiscent of the Taj Mahal - peace and tranquillity are breathed in here too, with its gardens, pond and sculptures depicting the rulers of Jodhpur who now rest here in marble tombs.
We then climb up to Mehrangarh, the fort that towers majestically above the town - it is one of the most distinctive buildings in India, seeming to rise directly from the rock and its decorations are incomparable, still intact despite the signs of time passed. We then return to town to find a little place to have lunch!
Feeling spicy?
Let's get ready for this afternoon: it's local cooking! The chapati will have no more secrets for us and we will be able to recognise every spice used to create the famous masala... chilli pepper is included, of course, but this time we will decide how much of it we use. The important thing is to put in the effort because we will only dine on what we cook!

Jodhpur and back to Delhi
Some free time
This morning we say farewell to Jodhpur and catch a flight back to Delhi where we will return to where it all began! After landing we'll have some free time to unwind or explore anything else in Delhi that we may have missed. We close the circle - and, unfortunately, our journey - with our last dinner all together: we relive the moments we have shared over the last few days in front of our last Indian dish!

About India
Find out the entry requirements for India, and, if needed, apply for your visa through our partner Sherpa.
Before traveling, always remember to check the government website of your country of origin for updates on the entry requirements for India – you wouldn’t want to stay home due to a bureaucratic detail!
- UK residents: review the FCDO Travel Advice.
- US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice.
- Other residents: refer to your government or local consulate's travel advice.
India is in the Indian Standard Time zone, which is GMT+5:30. India does not observe daylight saving time, so the time difference with the UK differs throughout the year.
The currency in India is the Indian Rupee (INR). You can exchange your money at:
- Banks
- Airports
- Currency exchange offices in major cities
It's a good idea to compare rates and fees to get the best deal.
In India, you can pay using cash, credit or debit cards, mobile wallets like Paytm or Google Pay, and UPI (Unified Payments Interface) apps. It's a good idea to have some cash on hand for small vendors or street markets, but cards and digital payments are widely accepted in cities and larger towns. Always check with your bank if your card will work in India and whether any fees apply.
Tipping is quite common in India, and it's appreciated even though not always mandatory. In restaurants, leaving a tip of around 5-10% of the bill is customary if a service charge isn't already included. For hotel staff, like porters or housekeeping, a small tip of 50-100 INR is a nice gesture. For taxi or rickshaw drivers, rounding up the fare is enough. Remember, tipping is seen as a way to show appreciation for good service, so feel free to tip more if you're especially satisfied.
India has a good internet infrastructure, especially in cities and tourist areas. Wi-Fi is common in hotels, cafes, and restaurants, but it can be slow or unreliable at times. If you want constant connectivity, we recommend getting a local SIM card. Major providers like Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone offer affordable data plans. You can buy a SIM at the airport or from mobile shops—just make sure your phone is unlocked. Do remember to bring your passport for registration.
In India, the main language spoken is Hindi, but there are 21 other officially recognised languages and hundreds of regional dialects. English is also widely used, especially in business and tourism. Here are some useful Hindi expressions you might hear or want to use:
- Hello: Namaste
- Thank you: Dhanyavaad
- Yes: Haan
- No: Nahi
- How much?: Kitna hua?
You'll find English is generally understood in larger cities and tourist areas.
In India, you'll find two types of sockets: Type C and Type D. Type C sockets have two round pins, while Type D sockets have three round pins in a triangular pattern. The standard voltage is 230V with a frequency of 50Hz. We recommend you bring a universal adapter to ensure your devices can be plugged in without any issues. This way, you're all set to keep your gadgets charged during your travels.
The main religion in India is Hinduism, which is practiced by the majority of the population. India is also home to many other religions, including Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
If you're planning to visit, it's good to be aware of some major religious holidays like Diwali, the Festival of Lights celebrated by Hindus, or Eid, celebrated by Muslims. These are vibrant and significant times in India, often accompanied by festivals, rituals, and public gatherings.

The question of all questions! Here’s some more information:
-
The Money Pot is a common fund collected in local currency from all travellers on the trip and managed by your Travel Coordinator;
-
It is used to streamline payments for extra activities, goods and services that the whole group decides to do. This guarantees flexibility in choosing activities and excursions at the destination in line with the mood of the group;
-
It is typically collected on the first day of the trip in local currency, although at times, the Travel Coordinator may ask for it to be paid before departure;
- You’ll find the Money Pot amount on the website under the section ‘What’s included in the Money Pot’. To find this look for ‘What’s included’, scroll down to ‘Money Pot? Click here’ and you’ll find the details.
-
The amount varies depending on the destination chosen;
-
It is usually used for group expenses that all travellers decide to take part in, but sometimes if you opt out of an activity it might make more sense for it to come out of the Money Pot. In these cases the Coordinator will return the amount for this activity back to you at the end of the trip;
-
It is estimated based on the experience of other groups but can vary depending on what activities your group is keen for. As such, the Travel Coordinator may need to increase the amount during the trip;
-
If not all of the Money Pot is spent, the difference will be returned to all travellers at the end of the trip;
-
The Money Pot also covers the Travel Coordinator’s share of the activities included in the Money Pot, except for those activities that are free for the Travel Coordinator;
-
If you pay in advance for part of the Money Pot before the trip for certain non-refundable optional activities, unfortunately, the amount cannot be refunded if the trip is cancelled;
- Activities paid through the Money Pot: they are carried out by third-party local suppliers and their conditions apply; WeRoad does not intervene in their management nor assumes any responsibility. For details on the money pot, see the General Terms and Conditions
Yes, but the available options depend on the status of your trip and when you make the request.
If your trip is not yet confirmed

Please note: if it’s your first unconfirmed booking, you will only be asked to provide a credit card, PayPal, or Revolut as a guarantee, but nothing will be charged. From the second unconfirmed booking onwards, a mandatory £/$0100 deposit will be required.
If your trip is confirmed
Fees are not refundable in cash. You are entitled to cancel up to 31 days before departure, but after this deadline, cancellation is no longer possible.
Flexible Cancellation
If you purchased the Flexible Cancellation option (available in the first step of the booking process), you can cancel your trip up to 8 days before departure and receive a 100% refund of the price, including the deposit and private room fee. The list of accommodation for your trip will be shared with you by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful details for your adventure!

1. All travellers can share their flight details after booking on their My WeRoad account so that other travellers on the same trip can see these details anonymously.
2. Alternatively you can join our Facebook group: Solo Travellers | WeRoad Community – (here is the extended link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/963298767843213 ) Look for a post about the trip you’re interested in or ask the group admin for help in getting in touch with your future travel companions!

Our trips are open to travelers between 25 and 49 years old. The indicated age is meant to give you an idea of the type of group, but it's not a strict limit: it's possible to participate even with a few years more or less, as long as you can keep up with the pace and energy of the group you're traveling with.
Each group will be joined and led by one of our experienced Travel Coordinators, who’s there to ensure everything runs smoothly and the group feels well-supported.
If you’d like to know more about our typical WeRoad groups do reach out to us on WhatsApp on +44 7716573700.
Yes! If you're curious, you can take a sneak peek at the group before booking.
You’ll find the info in the ‘Group’ section for each trip on the departures page, showing how many WeRoaders have already booked.
Click the little arrow and you’ll even see their gender and ages – but hey, that’s exclusive info, so we’ll ask you to log in or sign up to see that!
For some trips, in the itinerary section, you’ll find the number of nights and the location (not the hotel) where you’ll be spending the night(s). The location shown is the one we usually go for on most trips, but in some cases, you might stay in a nearby town. This will depend on logistics or availability of accommodation.
The list of accommodation for your trip (and therefore also the exact locations) will be shared by your Travel Group Leader 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful information for your adventure!
The WeRoad Travel Group Leader is an experienced and skilled traveller who will be the perfect companion for your trip. They will manage all the logistical aspects of the itinerary like transport, timings, accommodation, restaurant bookings and meeting points, so that you can enjoy the trip without this hassle. They’re there to support the group, ensure everything runs smoothly and will no doubt make the trip a lot of fun along the way too!
The Group Leader will set up a WhatsApp group approximately 2 weeks before departure. This will be the moment to ask any pre-departure questions and get to know the rest of the group! If the trip you are interested in already has a Travel Group Leader assigned, you can contact them before booking. Their details will be on the trip page, or you can search for their name here. After booking, you will find their contact details in your My WeRoad account, under ‘Bookings and Trips’ > ‘Your Upcoming Trips’ > ‘Trip Details’.
Yes, on all our trips you will share a room with other WeRoaders in your group. By default this will be people of the same gender, unless you tick ‘I'm OK with a mixed gender room’ when you book. The bathroom will either be private or shared only with other travellers on the trip. The rooms might be twins, triples, quadruples or multi-share (up to 8 people in exceptional cases), depending on the destination and availability.
You will never share with people from outside of the WeRoad group, except in certain cases for local experiences, which are specifically mentioned in the itinerary or communicated before booking. These typically involve specific nights in unique accommodation like tents, homestays, or camping, offering a more adventurous travel experience in exchange for some comfort.
On some of our trips we can offer a private room for an additional cost. Just tick the ‘Private Room’ option at checkout to get this added. For some of our trips if you book as two travellers together you can add this private room free of charge. Look out for this option at checkout.
Please note that if you do book a private room with a friend/partner this could be either a double or a twin room so please email hello@weroad.com if you have a preference on this.
