Itinerary
Is your personal paradise a white-sand island with crystal-clear waters? Now imagine a country where you can find more than 7,000 of them… Sounds like your dream vacation, where nature and chill vibes blend perfectly? Welcome to the Philippines! A patchwork of remote sandy strips in the middle of the ocean, rice fields, chocolate hills, volcanoes, hidden lagoons and underground rivers (yep, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world!). It's pretty much impossible to see everything in one trip, but by hopping from one island to another, we’ll make every moment count. It’s easy to see why this Southeast Asian gem is a top spot for nature lovers and outdoor adventure seekers! From swimming with turtles and massive (but totally harmless!) whale sharks, to visiting the Chocolate Hills, diving in clear waters and floating down an underground river – we’ll also get to meet the Filipinos, known for being some of the most welcoming and warm people on Earth. We’ll come home refreshed, backpacks full of memories, and with just that tiny pinch of nostalgia… but hey, with all the new friends made along the way, we won’t feel alone. This will be one for the books!

Welcome to the Philippines, explorers!
Check-in: our adventure kicks off in Manila!
We arrive in Manila, the heart of Spanish activity in the Far East back in the 16th century. Once known as the "Pearl of the Orient," the city witnessed Chinese uprisings, British occupation, wars against the Spanish and Americans, and some of the fiercest fighting of World War II.
Today, it's the capital of the Philippines and one of the most populous cities in the world. Ready to dive straight in and sample some typical Filipino dishes? Our tip: adobo, a braised chicken and pork dish, perhaps with a side of ukoy, a sweet potato and shrimp fritter.

Bohol Island: Discovering the Chocolate Hills
The Chocolate Hills
We’ll catch an early morning flight and head to the island of Bohol. From there, we’ll venture inland to visit the famous Chocolate Hills: over 1000 grassy mounds that rise up on the horizon, creating a truly surreal landscape before our eyes. These hills get their name from their colour during the dry season: the low vegetation covering them turns from green to brown!
Not far from the Chocolate Hills, there’s also a little sanctuary where we can make some new friends: this place is actually home to tarsiers! These tiny primates with huge eyes are absolutely adorable and have so much to discover: for example, despite their size, they can jump up to 5 meters!

Dolphins and crystal-clear sea
First taste of the sea
Today is all about the sea! Island hopping? Balicasag Island is considered a marine sanctuary and one of the best spots in the Philippines to see dolphins in their natural habitat! We can swim and snorkel in these crystal-clear waters, and if we're lucky, we might even spot a turtle.

New day, new island!
Cebu, here we come!

Moalboal
Whale sharks and adventure
Our day kicks off at dawn (actually, way before!), then it’s a dip in Oslob where we’ll get to swim with gentle giants (but veggie ones) – the whale sharks.
Later, we can decide whether to dive into some canyoning through the Kawasan Falls or head to Moalboal, a spot teeming with all sorts of fish and a stunning coral reef. If we're lucky, we might even swim with dolphins and turtles!

On the road to Puerto Princesa
Palawan, here we come!
Today, we're taking it easy: we'll say goodbye to Cebu and fly directly to Puerto Princesa, the capital of Palawan island. Here, we'll have time to explore the surroundings and relax in this little slice of paradise with a group drink or a nice massage. In the evening, after a dinner of fresh fish, we can serenade the Filipinos with your go-to karaoke song: karaoke is the national hobby here, and we're definitely up for it!

Puerto Princesa: the Sabang Underground River National Park
One of the 7 natural wonders of the world
Today’s excursion will show you exactly why Puerto Princesa is such a famous spot among the Philippine islands. The Underground River National Park near Sabang is a UNESCO World Heritage site and, at 8 km long, it’s the longest navigable underground river in the world. We’ll hop on a boat and head inside, past the monkeys and lizards guarding the entrance, ready to be blown away by the karst landscapes that have formed here over thousands of years. It's a sight you just have to see for yourself, there’s no other way to describe it! Like adrenaline? If you’re up for it, an 800-meter zipline overlooking the ocean awaits! In the afternoon, we’ll head over to El Nido!

Everyone to El Nido to discover the coral reef
Crystal-clear lagoons and sea
We’re in El Nido: a tiny town on the northern tip of Palawan island. We’ll spend the next couple of days here, soaking up everything this remote spot has to offer – think: white beaches, crystal-clear water, coral reefs, uninhabited islets, massive rock formations, not to mention the freshest fish you can taste anywhere, plus crocodile stew - the local specialty. Not bad, right? We’ll dedicate our first day to a stunning boat tour exploring the most iconic spots in this little slice of paradise! We’re talking Big Lagoon, Secret Lagoon, Shimizu Island, and Seven Commandos Island!
During our time here, we can take boat trips to visit all the beaches and lagoons in the archipelago – you can’t miss Papaya Beach or Big Lagoon! – or dive into the blue to see the coral reef with our own eyes. Then, in the evening, we have the opportunity to celebrate our adventure at the beachside clubs, dancing under the moonlight.

Chill, beach or adventure?
Crystal-clear lagoons and sea
Today we’ll have multiple options: we could organise another boat trip to discover more magical spots around us, chill on the beach, or for the most adventurous, we could hike through the jungle to reach the Pasadena Nagkalit - Kalit waterfalls. Not far from El Nido, you’ll find Las Cabanas beach, where we can fly over the sea on a zip line and enjoy the sunset with an evening drink.

Coron: between sea, beaches, and trekking
3 nights: Coron
Last sea
We say goodbye to El Nido and set sail by ferry towards Coron for the last three days of sea on our adventure. Here too, we can decide how to spend our days: there will be plenty of boat trips in search of the most beautiful coastlines and dinners with fresh fish and laughter! Fancy trying some diving?
Near Coron, you can then relax in the Maquinit Hot Spring, a natural saltwater hot pool – one of the few in the world – or dive into Lake Kayangan or Barracuda Lake, unique for their mix of fresh and salt water. Whatever you choose, we'll immerse ourselves nature! For those who might have had enough of the sea (though I doubt that's possible!), there's a hike that takes us to the top of Mount Tapyas. From there, besides the spectacular sunset view, we can also admire the sign “Coron,” a faithful copy of its twin “Hollywood” in Los Angeles.

Goodbye Philippines!

About Philippines
Find out the entry requirements for Philippines, and, if needed, apply for your visa through our partner Sherpa.
Before traveling, always remember to check the government website of your country of origin for updates on the entry requirements for Philippines – you wouldn’t want to stay home due to a bureaucratic detail!
- UK residents: review the FCDO Travel Advice.
- US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice.
- Other residents: refer to your government or local consulate's travel advice.
The Philippines is in the Philippine Time Zone, which is 8 hours ahead of GMT/UTC. If it is 12pm in the UK, it will be 8pm in the Philippines. If you're on the East Coast of the USA and it's 12pm, it will be 1am the next day in the Philippines. The Philippines does not observe daylight saving time, so this time difference remains consistent throughout the year.
The currency used in the Philippines is the Philippine Peso (PHP). As of the latest rates:
- 1 GBP is approximately 70 PHP
- 1 USD is around 56 PHP
- 1 EUR is about 60 PHP
You can exchange currency at airports, banks, and authorized money changers throughout the country. It's always a good idea to check current exchange rates before you travel.
In the Philippines, you can pay using cash, credit cards, and mobile payment apps. Credit cards are widely accepted in urban areas, especially in malls, hotels, and restaurants. However, in rural areas and for smaller vendors, cash is more common. It is a good idea to have some Philippine Peso on hand. You can also use mobile payment apps like GCash and PayMaya, which are increasingly popular for convenient transactions.
Tipping in the Philippines is appreciated but not mandatory. In restaurants, leaving a 5 to 10 percent tip is common if a service charge is not included in the bill. For other services, such as taxi drivers or hotel staff, rounding up the fare or leaving a small cash tip is a nice gesture. Always ensure you have some small bills or coins handy for tipping.
In the Philippines, internet access can be spotty, especially in rural areas, but it's generally reliable in cities. Buying a local SIM card is a good idea for better connectivity, and you can choose from providers like Globe, Smart, or DITO. These providers offer affordable data plans that will keep you connected throughout your trip. Wi-Fi is commonly available in hotels, malls, and cafes in urban areas, though speeds can vary. If you're visiting remote locations, having a SIM card with a data plan is your best bet to stay connected.
In the Philippines, the official language is Filipino, which is based on Tagalog, and English is widely spoken as well. You'll find many locals speaking both languages, making communication easier for travelers. Here are some useful Filipino expressions you might hear or use:
- Hello: Kumusta
- Thank you: Salamat
- Yes: Oo
- No: Hindi
- How much?: Magkano?
These phrases can be handy when interacting with locals during your trip.
In the Philippines, you'll find Type A and Type B plugs, similar to those used in North America. The voltage is 220V with a frequency of 60Hz. Since these plugs differ from those used in countries like Italy, it's a good idea to bring a universal adapter to ensure you can charge your devices without any hiccups.
The main religion in the Philippines is Christianity, with Roman Catholicism being the predominant denomination. Around 80% of the population are Roman Catholics. There are also significant numbers of other Christian denominations, such as Protestantism, and a minority of the population practices Islam, mainly in the southern regions. Important religious holidays include Christmas, Easter, and the Feast of the Black Nazarene. If you're visiting during these times, expect vibrant celebrations and public holidays.
For a trip to the Philippines, you'll want to pack smartly for the tropical climate. Here's what you should consider bringing in your backpack:
-
Clothing:
- Light t-shirts, tank tops
- Shorts, lightweight pants
- Swimwear
- A light rain jacket or poncho
- A hat for sun protection
-
Shoes:
- Comfortable sandals
- Flip-flops for the beach
- Lightweight sneakers or walking shoes
-
Accessories and technology:
- Sunglasses
- Waterproof phone case
- Power bank
- Universal adapter for electronics
-
Toiletries and medication:
- Sunscreen with high SPF
- Insect repellent
- Personal toiletries
- Basic first-aid kit
- Common travel medication like motion sickness pills, pain relievers, anti-diarrhea tablets
The Philippines is known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant culture, so pack accordingly and get ready to explore!
The weather in the Philippines is tropical and can vary depending on the region and time of year. Here's a quick breakdown:
- Luzon (north): Dry season from November to April, wet season from May to October. Best time to visit is November to February.
- Visayas (central): Similar to Luzon but with less variation. Best time to visit is December to May.
- Mindanao (south): More consistently warm and wet. Best time to visit is December to March.
Temperatures are generally warm year-round, averaging between 25°C (77°F) and 32°C (90°F). The hottest months are usually March to May. Typhoon season runs from June to November, so it's best to plan accordingly.

The question of all questions! Here’s some more information:
-
The Money Pot is a common fund collected in local currency from all travellers on the trip and managed by your Travel Coordinator;
-
It is used to streamline payments for extra activities, goods and services that the whole group decides to do. This guarantees flexibility in choosing activities and excursions at the destination in line with the mood of the group;
-
It is typically collected on the first day of the trip in local currency, although at times, the Travel Coordinator may ask for it to be paid before departure;
- You’ll find the Money Pot amount on the website under the section ‘What’s included in the Money Pot’. To find this look for ‘What’s included’, scroll down to ‘Money Pot? Click here’ and you’ll find the details.
-
The amount varies depending on the destination chosen;
-
It is usually used for group expenses that all travellers decide to take part in, but sometimes if you opt out of an activity it might make more sense for it to come out of the Money Pot. In these cases the Coordinator will return the amount for this activity back to you at the end of the trip;
-
It is estimated based on the experience of other groups but can vary depending on what activities your group is keen for. As such, the Travel Coordinator may need to increase the amount during the trip;
-
If not all of the Money Pot is spent, the difference will be returned to all travellers at the end of the trip;
-
The Money Pot also covers the Travel Coordinator’s share of the activities included in the Money Pot, except for those activities that are free for the Travel Coordinator;
-
If you pay in advance for part of the Money Pot before the trip for certain non-refundable optional activities, unfortunately, the amount cannot be refunded if the trip is cancelled;
- Activities paid through the Money Pot: they are carried out by third-party local suppliers and their conditions apply; WeRoad does not intervene in their management nor assumes any responsibility. For details on the money pot, see the General Terms and Conditions
We offer several payment methods to fit every need:
1. Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express);
2. Instalment payment with Klarna (you’ll pay for the trip in three equal amounts);
3. PayPal (for selected destinations);
4. Revolut Pay to pay even faster straight from your Revolut account.
Yes, but the available options depend on the status of your trip and when you make the request.
If your trip is not yet confirmed
You can cancel your booking by emailing hello@weroad.com
free of charge, up to 31 days before departure.
Please note: if it’s your first unconfirmed booking, you will only be asked to provide a credit card, PayPal, or Revolut as a guarantee, but nothing will be charged. From the second unconfirmed booking onwards, a mandatory £/$0100 deposit will be required.
If your trip is confirmed
Fees are not refundable in cash. You are entitled to cancel up to 31 days before departure, but after this deadline, cancellation is no longer possible.
Flexible Cancellation
If you purchased the Flexible Cancellation option (available in the first step of the booking process), you can cancel your trip up to 8 days before departure and receive a 100% refund of the price, including the deposit and private room fee. The only non-refundable amount is the cost of the Flexible Cancellation option itself.

- indicating your booking code.
- We will reply as soon as possible applying the cancellation conditions for your booking.
For our trips we usually use locally owned accommodation instead of big hotel chains. It’s our favourite way to really experience the local culture and, whenever we can, support the local economy. Typically, you’ll stay in hotels, apartments, guesthouses and hostels with the same standard maintained across all trips in the same destination.
The list of accommodation for your trip will be shared with you by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful details for your adventure!
Yes! We might not know the flights for everyone else in the group, but there are ways to find out which flights your fellow WeRoaders will be taking.
1. All travellers can share their flight details after booking on their My WeRoad account so that other travellers on the same trip can see these details anonymously.
2. Alternatively you can join our Facebook group: Solo Travellers | WeRoad Community – (here is the extended link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/963298767843213 ) Look for a post about the trip you’re interested in or ask the group admin for help in getting in touch with your future travel companions!
3. If the Coordinator has already been assigned to the trip you’re keen for, you can easily find their Facebook post on the website. Click 'Ask the Coordinator' and follow the link here.
Generally, our groups have an average of 11 people. Everyone on our trips speaks English, and travellers join us from across the UK, Europe and beyond. Our trips are open to travelers between 25 and 49 years old. The indicated age is meant to give you an idea of the type of group, but it's not a strict limit: it's possible to participate even with a few years more or less, as long as you can keep up with the pace and energy of the group you're traveling with.
Each group will be joined and led by one of our experienced Travel Coordinators, who’s there to ensure everything runs smoothly and the group feels well-supported.
If you’d like to know more about our typical WeRoad groups do reach out to us on WhatsApp on +44 7716573700.
Yes! If you're curious, you can take a sneak peek at the group before booking.
You’ll find the info in the ‘Group’ section for each trip on the departures page, showing how many WeRoaders have already booked.
Click the little arrow and you’ll even see their gender and ages – but hey, that’s exclusive info, so we’ll ask you to log in or sign up to see that!
For some trips, in the itinerary section, you’ll find the number of nights and the location (not the hotel) where you’ll be spending the night(s). The location shown is the one we usually go for on most trips, but in some cases, you might stay in a nearby town. This will depend on logistics or availability of accommodation.
The list of accommodation for your trip (and therefore also the exact locations) will be shared by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful information for your adventure!
The WeRoad Travel Coordinator is an experienced and skilled traveller who will be the perfect companion for your trip. They will manage all the logistical aspects of the itinerary like transport, timings, accommodation, restaurant bookings and meeting points, so that you can enjoy the trip without this hassle. They’re there to support the group, ensure everything runs smoothly and will no doubt make the trip a lot of fun along the way too!
The Coordinator will set up a WhatsApp group approximately 2 weeks before departure. This will be the moment to ask any pre-departure questions and get to know the rest of the group! If the trip you are interested in already has a Travel Coordinator assigned, you can contact them before booking. Their details will be on the trip page, or you can search for their name here. After booking, you will find their contact details in your My WeRoad account, under ‘Bookings and Trips’ > ‘Your Upcoming Trips’ > ‘Trip Details’.
Yes, on all our trips you will share a room with other WeRoaders in your group. By default this will be people of the same gender, unless you tick ‘I'm OK with a mixed gender room’ when you book. The bathroom will either be private or shared only with other travellers on the trip. The rooms might be twins, triples, quadruples or multi-share (up to 8 people in exceptional cases), depending on the destination and availability.
You will never share with people from outside of the WeRoad group, except in certain cases for local experiences, which are specifically mentioned in the itinerary or communicated before booking. These typically involve specific nights in unique accommodation like tents, homestays, or camping, offering a more adventurous travel experience in exchange for some comfort.
On some of our trips we can offer a private room for an additional cost. Just tick the ‘Private Room’ option at checkout to get this added. For some of our trips if you book as two travellers together you can add this private room free of charge. Look out for this option at checkout.
Please note that if you do book a private room with a friend/partner this could be either a double or a twin room so please email hello@weroad.com if you have a preference on this.
When you set off on a WeRoad trip, you’re officially a WeRoader – and as we often say, 'once a WeRoader, always a WeRoader'. This means that once you’re part of the community, a little piece of WeRoad will always stay with you.
But you’re not just a WeRoader during your trips, far from it! The community is alive and active all year round: you can stay in touch by following and interacting on our social media channels, like the Facebook group or the Instagram profile.
