Itinerary
10 days, one island, endless Caribbean vibes.
Get ready to experience the Dominican Republic from north to south, with the perfect mix of culture, nature, adventure, beach time, and nightlife. We’ll kick things off in Santo Domingo, soaking up the city’s energy as we explore the colorful Colonial Zone and discover hidden cenotes.
Then we head to the stunning Samaná Peninsula, where tropical landscapes, the iconic El Limón waterfall, and the beautiful beaches of Las Galeras are waiting for us. We’ll also stop in lively Las Terrenas, where we’ll dive into the local vibe and learn the moves with a fun merengue and bachata class. And because this trip is anything but ordinary, we’ll add an ATV adventure through some of the island’s most incredible scenery.
Next up: Punta Cana, with its white sand, turquoise water, and a night out at the legendary Coco Bongo. Then it’s time to slow things down in beautiful Bayahibe, where we’ll wrap up the trip with beach lunches, snorkeling, and a dreamy day on Saona Island, surrounded by those postcard-perfect Caribbean views.
This is the kind of trip you book for the destination and remember for the people, the laughs, and all the unexpected moments along the way.

Welcome to Dominican Republic: Caribbean Vibes Begin
Check-in: our adventure begins in Santo Domingo
Flights to and from the Dominican Republic are not included, so you’re free to choose the airport, airline, and timing that suit you best. We’ll meet in Santo Domingo, ready to kick off this adventure together, the tour leader will welcome you onsite!
Once we’ve checked into the hotel and met the group during our welcome meeting, it’s time to dive straight into the local vibe. We’ll start by exploring the city’s colorful Colonial Zone, where music, history, and Caribbean energy come together to give us the perfect introduction to the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo: Colonial Charm & Island Energy
A walk through history
After breakfast, we’re off to discover Santo Domingo, the oldest colonial city in the Americas and the vibrant capital of the Dominican Republic. We’ll spend the morning exploring the landmarks that bring the island’s culture, history, and heritage to life — from charming colonial streets to iconic sites connected to its fascinating past. And here’s something most people don’t expect: Santo Domingo is home to three cenotes. Of course, we’re not missing them. Whether we explore with a local guide or wander at our own pace, this is the perfect way to dive into the Dominican Republic for the very first time.
Welcome aperitivo, Caribbean style
After exploring the Colonial Zone, it’s time to switch into full island mode. We’ll head to Boca Chica for our first real taste of the Caribbean and a welcome aperitivo with our feet in the sand. A glass of Mama Juana, the Dominican Republic’s signature drink, or an ice-cold beer in hand, ocean breeze on our skin, music in the background, and the group all together for the first time — this is the moment the trip really begins.

Las Terrenas & Cacao Trail: Chocolate, Culture and Dance
A real-life chocolate fantasy
Today we step into a side of the Dominican Republic that feels straight out of a movie as we visit the Sendero del Cacao in San Francisco de Macorís. We’ll walk through cacao plantations, taste the cacao fruit straight from the source, and follow the full journey from bean to chocolate. And yes — we’ll even get hands-on and create our own little chocolate figure. Think real-life Willy Wonka vibes, but surrounded by tropical landscapes and local tradition.
Beach vibes or dance floor energy
Later, we head to Las Terrenas, one of the coolest beach towns on the island, where the evening is all about choosing your vibe. Want to fully lean into the local culture? You can join an optional merengue and bachata class and learn a few moves before hitting the town. Prefer a slower pace? Then it’s time for a delicious beach aperitivo, ocean breeze, sunset colors, and that perfect dose of laid-back Caribbean beach life.

Samaná & Las Galeras: Waterfalls, ATVs and Wild Beauty
Into the wild & ATVs and hidden beaches
This morning we set off early for one of the most breathtaking parts of the island: the Samaná Peninsula. Our first stop is the spectacular Salto del Limón, one of the Dominican Republic’s most iconic waterfalls. Reaching it is part of the adventure: a scenic 3 km trail through the jungle, with the option to do it on horseback for the full experience or on foot if you’d rather keep it classic. Either way, expect lush landscapes, tropical vibes, and a seriously rewarding finish. After the hike, we’ll recharge with a delicious local lunch.
Then it’s time to turn up the adrenaline. We head straight to Las Galeras, a small and authentic beach town known for its raw beauty and laid-back vibe, for an epic ATV adventure. We’ll ride through some of the area’s wildest landscapes, exploring off-the-beaten-path corners and stunning coastal scenery along the way. It’s the perfect mix of adventure, freedom, and those unforgettable views that make this part of the island feel so special.

Cayo Levantado: A Perfect Day in Paradise
A Caribbean postcard come to life
Today is all about living the Caribbean dream to the fullest. We’ll spend the day on Cayo Levantado, a tiny slice of paradise with swaying palms, soft white sand, and that unreal turquoise water you usually only see on postcards. No rush, no plans, no stress — just pure island time. Swim, sunbathe, take a barefoot stroll along the beach, and soak up every second of this perfect tropical escape.
As the sun goes down, the experience continues with a deeper dive into local culture through a delicious cooking class. This is our chance to discover the flavors, traditions, and ingredients that make Dominican cuisine so special — and, of course, enjoy the results together. A laid-back beach day followed by good food and shared moments? Sounds like a pretty perfect combo.

Samaná to Punta Cana: Beach Escape & Coco Bongo Night
One last taste of wild Samaná
Before we leave this unforgettable corner of the island behind, we’ve got one more day to soak up its raw beauty. We can choose between a trek to the Seven Beaches, with gorgeous coastal views and a laid-back beach lunch, or head to the stunning Playa Frontón for a slower day of pure beach life in one of the most untouched spots in the area. Either way, the mission is the same: enjoy every last second of this wild, unspoiled side of the Dominican Republic before moving on to our next stop.
Punta Cana after dark
After a quick lunch, we say goodbye to Samaná and hop on the ferry toward Punta Cana — and this one really needs no introduction. Once we’ve checked into the hotel and freshened up, it’s time to turn the energy all the way up. Tonight, we’re heading to the legendary Coco Bongo, the most iconic nightlife experience in the Caribbean. And this is way more than just a club: think live performances, huge productions, incredible costumes, jaw-dropping sets, and an atmosphere that feels part party, part show, and completely unforgettable. This is the kind of night people talk about long after the trip is over.

From Punta Cana to Bayahibe: Relaxation Mode On
Beach recovery mode
Are we still dreaming after last night, or are we actually still in the Caribbean? Very much the second one. Today is all about slowing down and enjoying a well-earned day of pure relaxation on one of the island’s most beautiful beaches. Think fresh fruit, optional beach massages, the sound of the waves in the background, and absolutely nothing on the agenda except soaking up the moment. After the energy of last night, this is exactly what we need.
On to Bayahibe
Later in the afternoon, we hit the road again and make our way to peaceful Bayahibe, a laid-back seaside town far from the crowds and the perfect gateway to the stunning Cotubanamá National Park, which we’ll explore tomorrow. Once we check in, it’s straight to the beach for a swim, some downtime, and a sunset that feels like the perfect welcome to this quieter, more local side of the Dominican Republic.

Saona Island: Snorkeling, Sun and Caribbean Dreams
Caribbean dream mode: on
We’re up early this morning and ready to set sail for the breathtaking Saona Island, one of the most iconic slices of paradise in the Dominican Republic. Think turquoise water, powdery white sand, swaying palm trees, and that unmistakable Caribbean energy all around us. This is the kind of place that looks unreal in photos — and even better in real life.
We’ll spend the day soaking up the best of island life: snorkeling in crystal-clear waters among colorful fish, relaxing on a postcard-perfect beach, and enjoying the laid-back rhythm of the Caribbean. There’ll also be time to browse the island’s small artisan market for local souvenirs and a taste of the local atmosphere. To make it even better, we’ll enjoy lunch right on the beach, surrounded by one of the most beautiful settings on the whole trip. Unspoiled nature, tropical scenery, and pure vacation vibes — this day has it all.

Catalina Island or Bayahibe: One More Day in Paradise
One more day in paradise
We wake up to the scent of salt in the air and the sound of the waves still in the background — and somehow, yes, we’re still in paradise. This morning, we’ve got two great options: head out to discover another Dominican gem, Catalina Island, or stay put and fully embrace beach mode with a day of sun, sea, and total relaxation. Whatever we choose, the vibe is exactly the same: swim, sun, cocktails, beach, repeat. One more carefree day to unwind, enjoy the group, and soak up every last bit of this Caribbean escape.
One last toast together
Later in the day, we make our way back to Santo Domingo, where the trip comes full circle. Tonight, it’s time for our farewell dinner — one last chance to raise a glass, relive the best moments, and celebrate everything we’ve shared along the way. The laughs, the beach days, the unexpected moments, the people: this is where it all turns into memories we’ll carry home with us. One final toast to an unforgettable adventure in the Dominican Republic

Goodbye Dominican Republic: Until the Next Adventure
Check-out and goodbye… for now
It’s hard to believe how much we’ve lived in just ten days. It feels like we’ve known each other for way longer, and yet somehow the trip flew by way too fast. After one last breakfast, it’s time to check out and say our goodbyes — at least for now. One thing’s for sure: the memories, the laughs, and the people we shared this adventure with aren’t going anywhere. See you on the next one.

Typically, you’ll stay in hotels, apartments, guesthouses and hostels with the same standard maintained across all trips in the same destination.
The list of accommodation for your trip will be shared with you by your Group Leader 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful details for your adventure!

1. Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express);
2. Instalment payment with Klarna (you’ll pay for the trip in three equal amounts);

2. Alternatively you can join our Facebook group: Solo Travellers | WeRoad Community – (here is the extended link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/963298767843213 ) Look for a post about the trip you’re interested in or ask the group admin for help in getting in touch with your future travel companions!

Each group will be joined and led by one of our experienced Travel Coordinators, who’s there to ensure everything runs smoothly and the group feels well-supported.

For some trips, in the itinerary section, you’ll find the number of nights and the location (not the hotel) where you’ll be spending the night(s). The location shown is the one we usually go for on most trips, but in some cases, you might stay in a nearby town. This will depend on logistics or availability of accommodation.
The list of accommodation for your trip (and therefore also the exact locations) will be shared by your Travel Group Leader 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful information for your adventure!

If the trip you are interested in already has a Travel Group Leader assigned, you can contact them before booking. Their details will be on the trip page, or you can search for their name here. After booking, you will find their contact details in your My WeRoad account, under ‘Bookings and Trips’ > ‘Your Upcoming Trips’ > ‘Trip Details’.
Yes, on all our trips you will share a room with other WeRoaders in your group. By default this will be people of the same gender, unless you tick ‘I'm OK with a mixed gender room’ when you book. The bathroom will either be private or shared only with other travellers on the trip. The rooms might be twins, triples, quadruples or multi-share (up to 8 people in exceptional cases), depending on the destination and availability.
You will never share with people from outside of the WeRoad group, except in certain cases for local experiences, which are specifically mentioned in the itinerary or communicated before booking. These typically involve specific nights in unique accommodation like tents, homestays, or camping, offering a more adventurous travel experience in exchange for some comfort.
On some of our trips we can offer a private room for an additional cost. Just tick the ‘Private Room’ option at checkout to get this added. For some of our trips if you book as two travellers together you can add this private room free of charge. Look out for this option at checkout.
Please note that if you do book a private room with a friend/partner this could be either a double or a twin room so please email hello@weroad.com if you have a preference on this.
