Check-in

Ready to start this trip the best way possible? We’re talking about food and drinks, obviously. Tonight we’ll have dinner and get the chance to have a first taste of the local cuisine - maybe we’ll try pad thai (the real one though!) or khao pad (fried rice that sounds delicious)? The night doesn’t end here though: it continues in Khao San, one of the best streets to enjoy Bangkok’s nightlife.

Bangkok

Bangkok, the vibrant capital of Thailand, pulsates with a fascinating blend of old and new, sacred and worldly, tranquility and frenzy. It's an absolute must-visit on any respectable trip to Thailand, and today we'll dedicate the entire day to exploring this captivating city. Time may not be on our side, but we'll make every moment count!

Just a stone's throw away from the famous Khao San Road, the ultimate party street, lies the magnificent Wat Pho. This sprawling religious complex houses the world's largest reclining Buddha statue. Nearby, we'll discover the awe-inspiring Wat Phra Kaew, known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the majestic Grand Royal Palace, once the residence of Thai rulers. And just across the Chao Phraya River, which gracefully flows through Bangkok, we'll find the enchanting Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn.

By now, our tired feet deserve a break, don't you agree? Well, you're in luck! A night bus awaits us to transport us to Chiang Mai. What better way to rejuvenate while traveling than to rest comfortably on the bus? It's the perfect opportunity to recharge for the next leg of our adventure!

Exploring the city

We start today with a guided half-day walking tour of Chiang Mai's Old Town.

We discover its most iconic landmarks like Chedi Luang Temple, Wat Pan Tao, and the Three Kings Monument. Then we leave the city behind and head up the mountain, following a more spiritual path. We stop at Wat Pha Lad, a peaceful forest temple hidden along the old monk trail, before reaching Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai’s most famous temple, with its golden pagoda and breathtaking views over the city.

Chiang Mai is a hotspot for digital nomads thanks to its low cost of living, vibrant atmosphere, global networking opportunities, and lush natural surroundings. We’ll wrap up the day at the famous night market, where we’ll enjoy authentic Thai street food—tonight’s dinner sorted!

Nature and Thai cooking class

This morning is yours to explore! Wander through the bustling streets of Chiang Mai or head into the nearby hills for some adventure—think rafting, zip-lining, or trekking in Doi Inthanon National Park. Or, make a dream come true: meet elephants in the jungle and spend time learning about their lives—maybe even join them for a bath!

Whatever you choose, the afternoon has one clear mission: mastering Thai cuisine! We’ll start by shopping for ingredients at the local market, then head to our cooking class. And of course, we’ll be the lucky ones to taste our own creations—so let’s make them count!

Arriving at Sukhothai

Today, we say goodbye to the lush greenery of Chiang Mai’s forests and set off for new horizons: Sukhothai! Did you know this city was the first capital of Siam?

We explore Sukhothai in the most immersive way: by bike. Cycling through the Sukhothai Historical Park, we move at an easy pace among ancient ruins, peaceful gardens, and centuries-old temples. Along the way, we stop at highlights like Wat Si Chum and other iconic monuments within the park, discovering the stories behind Thailand’s first capital with our licensed local guide.

Backpacks on, cameras ready—let’s get moving! An unforgettable day of ancient treasures and breathtaking views awaits.

Relax
Party and nightlife
A WeRoad group trip poses for a photo on a wooden viewpoint overlooking a turquoise lagoon surrounded by lush, green cliffs.
Chill time
2 days of well-deserved relaxation await us in one of the most spectacular islands in Thailand!

First we need to make our way there! We'll head to Bangkok before jumping on a domestic flight to Phuket.

These days have the stamp of both relaxation and adventure because those who want can continue to chill on the beach, otherwise it is possible to go sailing, diving, snorkelling or canoeing! We can take tour of the peninsula of Phuket via Freedom Beach - a pearl surrounded by greenery and blue - where we can enjoy the sea and finish the day at the Big Buddha located on top of a hill. We reach it for the sunset: from up here we will enjoy a unique panorama of the whole peninsula.

And the evening? It starts with a bars for sunset and who knows where the night will take us...

Another day, another island!

Another day in Thailand, another island to reach: this time we move to Krabi. This locality boasts spectacular rock formations that draw an extremely suggestive landscape.

Relax

Famous filming locations

It's our second day in Krabi so we want to make it unforgettable and a boat trip to Koh Phi Phi seems like the best way to do it! Made world-famous by Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Beach', this archipelago of six islands is located 42 km from the mainland in the middle of the Andaman Sea. We can spend the day sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling as we hop from one picture-perfect stop to the next, including Pileh Lagoon , which is surrounded almost entirely by huge cliffs and Maya Bay, the perfect crescent beach you'll recognise from the movie .Back on dry land, we want to make sure we celebrate the day in style: drinks on the beach as the sun sets anyone?

Relax

Our last day by the sea

Today's plans are in your hands! You can choose to try rock climbing on the famous cliffs or hop on a boat to explore the nearby islands. Alternatively, we can head to Tiger Cave, a forested area with a challenging hike of over a thousand steps. The reward? A breathtaking panoramic view of the entire region. The choice is yours for an unforgettable adventure!

Bangkok

After 3 wonderful days of relaxation, snorkelling, swimming and beautiful beaches, we reluctantly say goodbye to Krabi and get ready to return to Bangkok . An internal flight and we are back where we started!

It’s our last full day in Bangkok—let’s make the most of it! There’s still time to explore temples and neighbourhoods we haven’t seen yet, or hunt down those final souvenirs we’ve been meaning to pick up.

And to end on a high note: how about an exhilarating Muay Thai match at the legendary Rajadamnern Stadium, followed by a drink at one of Bangkok’s iconic skybars? The perfect way to toast an unforgettable trip!

  • Money Pot

    If you are looking to travel before the 1st May 2026, please be aware that this itinerary will be operating with the use of the Money Pot.

    (You’ll notice the price will differ to our departures from May onwards to account for this)

    What is the Money Pot? The Money Pot is a group kitty collected in local currency from all tour participants and managed by the Travel Coordinator. It's only used for the extra activities that all members of the group agree to do - so rather than collecting money each time, we speed up payments by using the Money Pot! It also allows flexibility to choose the extra activities the group wants to do depending on their desires.

    The Money Pot is approximately £200/€200 for this trip and is collected on-site by the Travel Coordinator on the first day. The amount of the Money Pot will vary based on the number of activities and extras that the group decides to do.

    Money Pot inclusions:

    • Any optional entrances, tickets, local guides, tips, public transport, except for the guided tour in Chiang Mai which is included

    • Day 2: Entrance fee and optional guide for the visit of Grand Palace and Wat Pho in Bangkok on Day 2

    • Day 5: Optional Sukhothai Cycling Tour of Historical Park on Day 5

    • Day 9: Phi Phi Island entrance fee

  • Accommodation

    Typical small hotels and guesthouses.

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

About this trip

What are the meeting and departure details for this trip?

This journey begins at Bangkok. On the first day, we meet at 18:00.

Your Coordinator will add you to the WhatsApp group for your trip about 15 days before departure.
 It’s a great way to start getting to know your travel mates, receive more details about the first day’s meeting point, and ask any pre-departure questions you might have.

This journey ends at Bangkok. On the last day, you are free to leave at any time, so whether you need to book a flight, a train, or wish to continue the journey on your own, you can organize your return as you prefer.

For departures from November 2026, please note that the trip ends in Phuket. Read the Additional info section for more details.

What kind of luggage can I bring with me on this trip?

For this itinerary, you can choose the type of luggage you prefer – we always recommend a backpack, but you can also travel with a duffel bag, a holdall, or (it breaks our heart to say it) a cabin trolley case or a checked suitcase, as long as it’s moderate in size. Our Travel Coordinator will suggest the ideal luggage before departure in the WhatsApp group!

About Thailand Winter

What are the entry requirements for Thailand?

Find out the entry requirements for Thailand, and, if needed, apply for your visa through our partner Sherpa.

Before traveling, always remember to check the government website of your country of origin for updates on the entry requirements for Thailand – you wouldn’t want to stay home due to a bureaucratic detail!

What's the time zone in Thailand?

Thailand is in the Indochina Time zone, which is GMT+7. This means there is no daylight saving time.
If it is 12pm in the UK, it will be 7pm in Thailand.

Which currency is used in Thailand?

Thailand uses the Thai Baht (THB). As of the most recent rates:

  • 1 GBP is approximately 43 THB
  • 1 USD is roughly 35 THB
  • 1 EUR is about 38 THB

You can exchange your currency at banks, exchange counters at airports, and major tourist areas. Always check for the latest exchange rates before you go.

How can I pay in Thailand?

In Thailand, you can pay using cash, credit cards, or mobile payment apps. Credit cards like Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and larger stores. However, for smaller shops, street vendors, and local markets, you'll need cash.

It's a good idea to have a mix of payment options. You can withdraw Thai Baht from ATMs, which are plentiful in cities and towns. Make sure to notify your bank about your travel plans to avoid any issues with your card.

Do I need to tip in Thailand?

Tipping in Thailand is not mandatory, but it's appreciated for good service. In restaurants, you can leave any loose change or round up the bill. For porters or hotel staff, a small tip of 20-50 baht is a nice gesture. Taxis do not require a tip, but rounding up to the nearest 10 baht is common practice. Remember, tipping is at your discretion and based on the level of service you received.

What's the internet like in Thailand? Should I buy a SIM card? How available is Wi-Fi?

In Thailand, the internet connection is generally good, with Wi-Fi widely available in hotels, cafes, and restaurants, especially in urban areas like Bangkok and Chiang Mai. However, for more reliable and on-the-go access, it's a good idea to buy a local SIM card or an e-SIM data plan. You can find SIM cards from providers like AIS, DTAC, or TrueMove at the airport and convenience stores. They offer affordable data packages, making it easy to stay connected while exploring the country.

What language do they speak in Thailand?

In Thailand, the official language is Thai. Here are a few useful Thai expressions you might hear or want to use:

  • Hello: Sawasdee (สวัสดี)
  • Thank you: Khop khun (ขอบคุณ)
  • Yes: Chai (ใช่)
  • No: Mai chai (ไม่ใช่)
  • How much?: Tao rai? (เท่าไหร่?)

Knowing a few phrases can really enhance your experience in Thailand!

What kind of plugs are used in Thailand?

In Thailand, the plugs used are Type A, B, and C. The voltage is 220 volts, and the frequency is 50 Hz. If you're coming from a country with different plug types, like the UK or the USA, you'll need a universal adapter to fit these sockets. This ensures your devices can be safely charged without any issues. Make sure your electronics can handle the 220 volts or get a voltage converter.

What’s the main religion in Thailand?

The main religion in Thailand is Buddhism, with about 95% of the population being Theravada Buddhists. You’ll find many beautiful temples and Buddhist practices integrated into daily life. Important religious holidays include:

  • Makha Bucha
  • Visakha Bucha
  • Asalha Bucha

When visiting temples or participating in religious events, it's respectful to dress modestly. For women, this means covering shoulders and knees.

What should I pack for Thailand?

Packing for Thailand is exciting, as you'll be exploring a beautiful and diverse country.
Here's a handy list of what to put in your backpack:

  • Clothing:
    - Lightweight t-shirts and tank tops
    - Shorts and skirts
    - Lightweight pants or long skirts for temples
    - A light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings
    - Swimwear
  • Shoes:
    - Comfortable walking shoes or sandals

    - Sunglasses
    - Lightweight backpack for day trips

  • Toiletries and Medication:
    - Sunscreen and insect repellent
    - Travel-sized shampoo and body wash

What is the Money Pot and how does it work?

The question of all questions! Here’s some more information:

  • The Money Pot is a common fund collected in local currency from all travellers on the trip and managed by your Travel Coordinator;

  • It is used to streamline payments for extra activities, goods and services that the whole group decides to do. This guarantees flexibility in choosing activities and excursions at the destination in line with the mood of the group;

  • It is typically collected on the first day of the trip in local currency, although at times, the Travel Coordinator may ask for it to be paid before departure;

  • You’ll find the Money Pot amount on the website under the section ‘What’s included in the Money Pot’. To find this look for ‘What’s included’, scroll down to ‘Money Pot? Click here’ and you’ll find the details.
  • The amount varies depending on the destination chosen;

  • It is usually used for group expenses that all travellers decide to take part in, but sometimes if you opt out of an activity it might make more sense for it to come out of the Money Pot. In these cases the Coordinator will return the amount for this activity back to you at the end of the trip;

  • It is estimated based on the experience of other groups but can vary depending on what activities your group is keen for. As such, the Travel Coordinator may need to increase the amount during the trip;

  • If not all of the Money Pot is spent, the difference will be returned to all travellers at the end of the trip;

  • The Money Pot also covers the Travel Coordinator’s share of the activities included in the Money Pot, except for those activities that are free for the Travel Coordinator;

  • If you pay in advance for part of the Money Pot before the trip for certain non-refundable optional activities, unfortunately, the amount cannot be refunded if the trip is cancelled;

  • Activities paid through the Money Pot: they are carried out by third-party local suppliers and their conditions apply; WeRoad does not intervene in their management nor assumes any responsibility. For details on the money pot, see the General Terms and Conditions
What payment methods can I use?

We offer several payment methods to fit every need:

1. Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express);
2. Instalment payment with Klarna (you’ll pay for the trip in three equal amounts);
3. PayPal (for selected destinations);
4. Revolut Pay to pay even faster straight from your Revolut account.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes, but the available options depend on the status of your trip and when you make the request.

If your trip is not yet confirmed
You can cancel your booking by emailing hello@weroad.com
free of charge, up to 31 days before departure.
Please note: if it’s your first unconfirmed booking, you will only be asked to provide a credit card, PayPal, or Revolut as a guarantee, but nothing will be charged. From the second unconfirmed booking onwards, a mandatory £/$0100 deposit will be required.

If your trip is confirmed
Fees are not refundable in cash. You are entitled to cancel up to 31 days before departure, but after this deadline, cancellation is no longer possible.

Flexible Cancellation
If you purchased the Flexible Cancellation option (available in the first step of the booking process), you can cancel your trip up to 8 days before departure and receive a 100% refund of the price, including the deposit and private room fee. The only non-refundable amount is the cost of the Flexible Cancellation option itself.

How to cancel your trip

  • Write to hello@weroad.com
  • indicating your booking code.
  • We will reply as soon as possible applying the cancellation conditions for your booking.

PLEASE NOTE: before cancelling, keep in mind that you can move your booking to another trip or a different dateFind out how!

What type of accommodation should I expect on your trips?

For our trips we usually use locally owned accommodation instead of big hotel chains. It’s our favourite way to really experience the local culture and, whenever we can, support the local economy. Typically, you’ll stay in hotels, apartments, guesthouses and hostels with the same standard maintained across all trips in the same destination.

The list of accommodation for your trip will be shared with you by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful details for your adventure!

Can I find out my travel groups' flights?

Yes! We might not know the flights for everyone else in the group, but there are ways to find out which flights your fellow WeRoaders will be taking.

1. All travellers can share their flight details after booking on their My WeRoad account so that other travellers on the same trip can see these details anonymously.

2. Alternatively you can join our Facebook group: Solo Travellers | WeRoad Community – (here is the extended link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/963298767843213 ) Look for a post about the trip you’re interested in or ask the group admin for help in getting in touch with your future travel companions!

3. If the Coordinator has already been assigned to the trip you’re keen for, you can easily find their Facebook post on the website. Click 'Ask the Coordinator' and follow the link here.

How is a group made up in average?

Generally, our groups have an average of 11 people. Everyone on our trips speaks English, and travellers join us from across the UK, Europe and beyond. Our trips are open to travelers between 25 and 49 years old. The indicated age is meant to give you an idea of the type of group, but it's not a strict limit: it's possible to participate even with a few years more or less, as long as you can keep up with the pace and energy of the group you're traveling with.

Each group will be joined and led by one of our experienced Travel Coordinators, who’s there to ensure everything runs smoothly and the group feels well-supported.

If you’d like to know more about our typical WeRoad groups do reach out to us on WhatsApp on +44 7716573700.

Can I see who’s in the group before I book the trip?

Yes! If you're curious, you can take a sneak peek at the group before booking.
You’ll find the info in the ‘Group’ section for each trip on the departures page, showing how many WeRoaders have already booked.

Click the little arrow and you’ll even see their gender and ages – but hey, that’s exclusive info, so we’ll ask you to log in or sign up to see that!

If a location is mentioned, is it guaranteed that we’ll spend the night there?

For some trips, in the itinerary section, you’ll find the number of nights and the location (not the hotel) where you’ll be spending the night(s). The location shown is the one we usually go for on most trips, but in some cases, you might stay in a nearby town. This will depend on logistics or availability of accommodation.

The list of accommodation for your trip (and therefore also the exact locations) will be shared by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful information for your adventure!

Who is the Travel Coordinator and what is their role on the trip?

The WeRoad Travel Coordinator is an experienced and skilled traveller who will be the perfect companion for your trip. They will manage all the logistical aspects of the itinerary like transport, timings, accommodation, restaurant bookings and meeting points, so that you can enjoy the trip without this hassle. They’re there to support the group, ensure everything runs smoothly and will no doubt make the trip a lot of fun along the way too!

The Coordinator will set up a WhatsApp group approximately 2 weeks before departure. This will be the moment to ask any pre-departure questions and get to know the rest of the group! If the trip you are interested in already has a Travel Coordinator assigned, you can contact them before booking. Their details will be on the trip page, or you can search for their name here. After booking, you will find their contact details in your My WeRoad account, under ‘Bookings and Trips’ > ‘Your Upcoming Trips’ > ‘Trip Details’.

Will I be sharing a room?

Yes, on all our trips you will share a room with other WeRoaders in your group. By default this will be people of the same gender, unless you tick ‘I'm OK with a mixed gender room’ when you book. The bathroom will either be private or shared only with other travellers on the trip. The rooms might be twins, triples, quadruples or multi-share (up to 8 people in exceptional cases), depending on the destination and availability.

You will never share with people from outside of the WeRoad group, except in certain cases for local experiences, which are specifically mentioned in the itinerary or communicated before booking. These typically involve specific nights in unique accommodation like tents, homestays, or camping, offering a more adventurous travel experience in exchange for some comfort.

On some of our trips we can offer a private room for an additional cost. Just tick the ‘Private Room’ option at checkout to get this added. For some of our trips if you book as two travellers together you can add this private room free of charge. Look out for this option at checkout.

Please note that if you do book a private room with a friend/partner this could be either a double or a twin room so please email hello@weroad.com if you have a preference on this.

How can I be part of the WeRoad community?

When you set off on a WeRoad trip, you’re officially a WeRoader – and as we often say, 'once a WeRoader, always a WeRoader'. This means that once you’re part of the community, a little piece of WeRoad will always stay with you.

But you’re not just a WeRoader during your trips, far from it! The community is alive and active all year round: you can stay in touch by following and interacting on our social media channels, like the Facebook group or the Instagram profile. You can also come along to one of our many events that we run in different cities worldwide. Check out and sign up to our events by downloading the WeMeet app here
