Egypt 360°: From the Giza Pyramids to the Red Sea
The trip in a nutshell
A trip to Egypt is a journey back in time to uncover one of the world's oldest civilizations: a dry and desert land made rich and fertile by the Nile River, where the kingdom of Ancient Egypt thrived. We'll feel like little Indiana Joneses as we explore ancient pyramids and tombs, from Luxor to Abu Simbel and the iconic Pyramids of Giza. What will truly amaze us is how these magnificent structures have survived the slow passage of time, enduring wars, looting, and abandonment to reach us today, allowing us to still marvel at their splendor.
Our group adventure begins in Cairo, where the famous Giza Pyramids and the iconic Sphinx tower over the modern skyline of the capital. Right from the start, we’ll feel like we’re stepping into an ancient history book. Heading south, we’ll uncover tombs, monuments, and necropolises preserved by rock and sand for centuries. In Aswan, we’ll stand in awe of the monumental Ramses statues at Abu Simbel, while in Luxor, we’ll delve into the vast Karnak temple complex and the Valley of the Kings, the majestic resting place of rulers from the Old Kingdom of Egypt.
Before heading back to Cairo, we’ll enjoy a relaxing day in Hurghada, where we can dive into its crystal-clear waters for 24 hours of well-deserved relaxation. Egypt will take us back to school, but this time, we won't be learning history from books – we’ll be exploring these incredible and ancient wonders of humanity firsthand.

Itinerary
Welcome to Egypt!
Check in: Our journey begins in Cairo
Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!
It’s impossible to arrive in Cairo and not be captivated by this ancient city. The first settlement here dates back to Roman times, but just a bit further south, we find the ruins of Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, founded in 3,100 BC. In short, you can feel the weight of history the moment you set foot here.
We’ll take this opportunity to get to know each other better during our first dinner together – the perfect chance to taste the local cuisine and kick off this adventure on the right foot!
Included: overnight stay with breakfast
Not Included: Meals and drinks
The Giza Pyramids
Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos
Today begins with an undeniable symbol: we’re heading to Giza, the first of many UNESCO World Heritage sites we'll visit on this trip, and certainly the most famous historical and archaeological site in all of Egypt. Here, we’ll stand before the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos—the three most iconic Egyptian pyramids in the world. However, the true star of the day is the legendary Sphinx, perhaps the most renowned attraction.
It will be awe-inspiring to finally see these colossal monuments with our own eyes, the ones we’ve only ever glimpsed in schoolbook photos. These remarkable structures have stood the test of time, and we’ll take all the time we need to truly appreciate their breathtaking beauty.
Dashur
If time allows, we won’t miss a visit to nearby Dashur, always guided by a knowledgeable local guide who will unveil the secrets of these ancient place
A long journey
After exploring this fascinating corner of Egypt far and wide, we head to the train station and board a night train. Tonight, we’ll travel across half of Egypt, and by tomorrow morning, we’ll wake up in Aswan, ready for new adventures. We’ll have dinner on board, settle into our bunks, and enjoy the evening together. Who knows, maybe we’ll all squeeze into one compartment for a game of cards!
Included: overnight stay with breakfast, local guide, private transport with driver, entrance fees to Giza archaeological site and the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), night train and dinner
Money pot : any other entrance fees
Not included: Other meals and drinks not mentioned above
In the south of Egypt: we arrive in Aswan
An island in the middle of the Nile
We wake up far south of the capital: during the night, our train has taken us from Cairo to Aswan, a city along the Nile, just beyond Lake Nasser. Aswan, like much of Egypt, has ancient roots. In fact, during ancient Egypt, stone caravans departed from here to supply the materials used in constructing the Giza Necropolis, which we visited just yesterday. After dropping off our backpacks at the hotel, we’ll decide together how to spend the day.
One idea is to take a transfer to Elephantine Island, situated in the middle of the Nile near Aswan. Here, as in much of Egypt, we’ll encounter noteworthy archaeological remains—including evidence that a Jewish colony may have taken refuge here to escape deportation to Babylon.
Included: overnight stay with breakfast, local guide
Money pot: any entrance fees
Not included: Meals and drinks not mentioned above
The Temple of Abu Simbel
Cultural discovery
This morning, the alarm will ring at dawn… or maybe not! Today, we have the chance to visit the stunning Temple of Abu Simbel, but it means sacrificing a few hours of sleep. The excursion is completely optional, so it’s up to us to decide whether we choose the pillow or history. Trust us, getting up early is absolutely worth it!
The Temple of Abu Simbel is one of the most significant monuments in Egyptian history and culture, especially from the Pharaonic era, built around 3,000 years ago. The site features two main temples carved into the rock, but the Great Temple is the most famous. It was commissioned by Ramses II to deify himself, and on its facade, we see the imposing 20-meter-high statues of Ramses II.
What’s fascinating is that we’re not standing in the exact spot where Abu Simbel was originally built. In 1964, the entire archaeological site was moved by UNESCO after Egypt's president announced plans to construct a dam and artificial lake near the temples, which could have damaged them. The site was carefully dismantled and rebuilt 65 meters higher and 210 meters further back, where we see it today. We admire it in all its glory, grateful for the efforts to protect and preserve such beauty.
We’ll return to Aswan in the late afternoon, where we can relax and enjoy the evening together.
Included: overnight stay with breakfast, local guide
Money pot : Transportation and Entrance to Abu Simbel
Not included: meals and drinks
On the road verso Luxor: Kom Ombo ed Edfu
Ancient buildings
Goodbye, Aswan, it’s been a real pleasure! Today, we’re heading towards Edfu, but along the way, we’ll make a quick stop at Kom Ombo, a place of worship built during the Ptolemaic dynasty. We’ll stretch our legs while getting our daily dose of history!
We’ll then continue on to Edfu, where we’ll once again stand before an ancient place of worship, dating back to the Old Kingdom but having undergone several restorations. The structure here is unique and is called the "Telescope"—and it won’t take long to see why!
Towards Luxor and its East Bank!
We hit the road again, this time heading to a destination that’s impossible not to know—or at least not to have heard of: Luxor, here we come!
We’ve arrived at the site of Egypt's capital during the Middle Kingdom—the ancient city of Thebes. Even today, Luxor remains one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. In the afternoon, we’ll focus on exploring the magnificent Karnak Temple complex, located on the east bank of the Nile. The uniqueness of this site lies in the fact that over the span of 1,600 years, every pharaoh or king left their mark, making what we see today practically an open-air history book.
Included: overnight stay with breakfast, local guide, and private transport with driver, Kom Ombo and Edfu monuments entrance fees
Money pot: any other entrance fees
Not included: meals and drinks
The Valley of the Kings
An unforgettable experience!
Good morning, Luxor! We’re ready to be captivated by your history, secrets, and beauty! And what better way to start the day than with a hot air balloon flight at dawn? It’s sure to be a Bucket List experience—something to do once in a lifetime!
If yesterday we explored Luxor on the east bank, today we’re shifting to the west bank. After so many days of exploring these incredible archaeological sites, we’ll feel like little Indiana Joneses, ready to uncover more treasures, and today will be no exception! Our guide will lead us to the impressive Colossi of Memnon, which have stood tall for over 3,400 years, and then on to the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of numerous pharaohs are housed. For 500 years, this was the final resting place chosen by Egypt’s sovereigns.
More tombs!
We continue our exploration of Ancient Egypt with a visit to the funerary temple of Hatshepsut, also known as Djeser-Djeseru. Dedicated to the solar deity Amun-Ra, this remarkable site is also where Howard Carter, the famous archaeologist, once lived. Carter is renowned for discovering the tomb of Tutankhamun, the pharaoh who reigned at the end of the XVIII dynasty and is famously associated with the alleged curses that befell the archaeologists involved in unearthing his tomb!
Included: overnight stay with breakfast, local guide
Money pot: entrance fees to the sites
Not included: meals, drinks and hot air balloon flight (subject to availability)
The Red Sea

We’re nearing the end of our journey through Egypt, but there’s still something missing, right? Something like sand, a crystal-clear sea, and some much-needed relaxation! We’ll leave early in the morning from Luxor to head to Hurghada, where 24 hours of all-inclusive relaxation await us. Have you already dug your swimsuit out of your suitcase?
In the afternoon, we’ll have free time to unwind on the beach or join one of the many available excursions!
Included: all-inclusive overnight stay, local guide and private transport with driver
Money pot: optional excursions
Not included: drinks
We return to Cairo
Back to Cairo!
We’re heading back to Cairo! Although the journey hours are quite long, we can use this time to reminisce about all the moments we’ve shared together—filled with history, adventure, and incredible monuments.
Surely, our last dinner together will be an emotional one: from strangers to friends in just a few days. Let’s raise a toast to ourselves and to this fantastic adventure!
Included: overnight stay with breakfast, local guide and private transport with driver

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions
Round-trip flights are not included in any of our trips because we like to give you autonomy and flexibility: you can choose the airline you want to fly with, the departure airport that suits you best, and how many and which stops you want to make.
Since flights are not included, you also have more flexibility with your travel dates: if possible, you can arrive at your destination a few days earlier or return home a bit later – or even continue independently to a nearby destination!
This is the question of all questions, and here’s the answer, broken down into points!
The Money Pot is a common fund collected in local currency from all tour participants and managed by your Travel Coordinator.
It is used to streamline paymentsfor extra activities, goods and services that the whole group decides to do and to guarantee flexibility in choosing activities and excursions at the destination in line with the mood of the group.
It is typically collected on the first day of the trip in local currency, although at times, the Travel Coordinator may ask for it to be paid before departure.
You’ll find the amount of the money pot on the website under the section ‘What’s included in the money pot’ – how do you get there? Look for ‘What’s included’, scroll down to ‘Money pot? Click here’, and you’ll find the details.
The amount varies depending on the destination chosen.
It is used exclusively for group expenses that ALL participants decide to take part in.
It is estimated based on the experiences of other groups but can vary depending on the needs of the group itself. As such, the Travel Coordinator may need to increase the amount during the trip.
If not all of the money pot is used, the difference will be returned to all participants at the end of the trip in equal amounts.
The Money Pot also covers the Travel Coordinator’s share of the activities included in the money pot, except for those activities that are free for the Travel Coordinator.
If you pay in advance part of the money pot before the trip for certain non-refundable optional activities, unfortunately, the amount cannot be refunded in case of trip cancellation.
We offer several payment methods to meet all needs:
1. Credit or debit card from Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
2. Installment payments for certain countries only
If you choose the deposit and balance option, you can pay the balance from your MyWeRoad Personal Area via bank transfer.
Anyone who books a WeRoad trip has the option to cancel or modify the trip – including both the dates and the destination – free of charge up to 31 days before departure. In case of cancellation, you will receive a 100% refund of the WeRoad trip price. (Deposits will be refunded in the form of a gift card valid for 365 days from issue date.) If you make a change, a price adjustment will be applied to the new trip chosen – meaning, if the new trip is cheaper, we will refund the difference; if it’s more expensive, you will need to pay the difference.
If you’ve purchased the Flexible Cancellation Option (which you can add in the first step of the booking process), you can request a cancellation or trip change until 8 days before departure. In case of cancellation, you’ll receive a 100% refund of the WeRoad trip price, minus the cost of the Flexible Cancellation option. Deposits will be refunded in the form of a gift card valid for 365 days from issue date.
How to request a cancellation or change to your trip? Send us an email at [email protected] or a WhatsApp on +447716573700. Please share the booking reference for the trip you want to cancel or change, and, in case of a change, the new trip you would like to join.
In general, we always choose local accommodations, avoiding large hotel chains, because we love to experience the culture of the place and, whenever possible, contribute to the local economy. Typically, our accommodations are hotels, apartments, guesthouses, and hostels run by local entrepreneurs, with the same standard maintained across all trips in the same destination.
For our Collection trips, which are our premium category, the accommodations are always 4 or 5-star or carefully selected boutique hotels.
The list of accommodations for your trip will be shared with you by your Travel Coordinator between 5 and 3 days before departure, along with other useful details for your adventure!
If you're wondering why WeRoad trips have a money pot, we’re assuming you already know what it is. If not, or if you have any doubts, we invite you to read all the information here!
Let’s quickly recap: The Money Pot is a common fund collected in local currency from all tour participants and managed by your Travel Coordinator. It’s used to speed up payments for extra activities, goods and services that the whole group decides to do and to guarantee flexibility in choosing activities and excursions at the destination in line with the mood of the group.
But let’s get to the point: why the money pot? First of all: it gives us a lot of flexibility. In all WeRoad trips you will have a bunch of Must See/Must Do activities already included - these are experiences, places or activities that simply cannot be missed! Any extra activities is decided by the group, why? Because each group is unique and may have particular wants or desires and the Money Pot allows each group to customise their trip to make it perfect for their requirements!
It also helps us speed up payments – imagine being in the subway in New York City, one by one purchasing the ticket...a nightmare right? Thanks to the Money Pot, the Travel Coordinator can simply purchase the tickets for everyone making the entire processes smoother! Any leftover money will be returned at the end of the trip and split equally amongst all participants.
In some destinations, buying goods or services on site is more economical as you are able to negotiate the price - places like Morocco, or South East Asia, bargaining is part of the culture. As such, our Travel Coordinators will be able to secure the best deal for all participants.
The amount of the money pot is specified in each trip – look for this button
which will take you to a detailed breakdown for each trip, like this:

If a Travel Coordinator has already been assigned to the trip you're interested in, you can easily find their introduction post in the group via the website: in the tour list, click on 'Ask the coordinator', or in the trip details page, in the coordinator section, click on 'Ask [coordinator's name] for information on this trip in our Facebook group'. For both cases, see the screenshots below!

In all our groups, the Travel Coordinator and participants speak English – knowing how to speak and understand English is therefore a fundamental requirement to participate in our trips.
On average the groups are made up of 6-15 people, with a minimum of 3/4 participants and a maximum of 15.
All our travellers are in theirs 20s, 30s and 40s. If you're very curios to know the age range of the group for a tour you're interested in, you can contact us by WhatsApp at +447716573700
Regarding the male-female ratio, this is not guaranteed and varies trip by trip.
Yes! If you're curious, you can take a sneak peek at the group before booking – although, in our opinion, that kind of spoils the surprise! You’ll find the info in the ‘Group’ section for each trip on the departures page, showing how many WeRoaders have already booked. Click the little arrow and you’ll even see their gender and ages – but hey, that’s exclusive info, so we’ll ask you to log in or sign up to see that!
You can spot this info in the screenshots below:

Yes, in all our trips you will share a room with other same-sex travellers, and the bathroom will either be private or shared only with fellow participants of the trip. The rooms we select can be doubles, triples, quadruples, or multi-bed (up to 8 people in exceptional cases), depending on the destination and availability.
There are never dorms with people outside the WeRoad group, except in certain cases for local experiences, which are specifically mentioned in the itinerary or communicated before booking. These typically involve specific nights in unique accommodations like tents, homestays, or camping, offering a more adventurous travel experience in exchange for some comfort.
During the booking process, you can also choose to opt for a mixed room: in this case, if needed, only those who have agreed to this option may share a room with travellers of a different sex. If you are booking for multiple people together and select this option, the room will not be exclusive to your group but may be shared with other travellers in the group.
The WeRoad Travel Coordinator is an experienced and skilled traveller and will be the perfect companion for your trip. They will be available for any eventuality and will manage all the logistical aspects of the itinerary (transports, timings, accommodations, meeting points, etc.), so you can enjoy the trip without any worries!
You will have the chance to get to know them when the WhatsApp group is created approximately 2 weeks before departure - this will be the moment to ask any pre-departure questions and get to know the rest of the group! If the trip you are interested in already has a Travel Coordinator assigned, you can contact them before booking – their details will be specified in the schedule or on the trip page, or you can search for their name here. After booking, you will find their contact details in your Personal Area, under ‘Bookings and Trips’ > ‘Your Upcoming Trips’ > ‘Trip Details’.
When you set off on a WeRoad trip, you’re officially a WeRoader – and as we often say, 'Once a WeRoader, always a WeRoader'. This means that once you’re part of the community, a little piece of WeRoad will always stay with you, even if you no longer travel with us.
But you’re not just a WeRoader during your trips, far from it! The community is alive and active all year round: you can stay in touch by following and interacting on our social media channels, like the Facebook group or the Instagram profile. We can also meet up for a dinner or a trek together at one of the events organised by our coordinators around the world!
