Itinerary

Escape the daily grind and breathe in the freshest air in England!

We are heading to the Lake District National Park for a weekend that perfectly balances rugged adventure with good old-fashioned British pub culture. Our base is the vibrant market town of Keswick, the undisputed capital of the Northern Lakes, where slate cottages nestle beneath giant peaks.

Forget about boring walks; we are here for the views. This isn't a one-size-fits-all trip—on Saturday, you choose your own adventure! Take the scenic route to Walla Crag and the famous Surprise View for a cliff-edge panorama that will blow your mind (and your Instagram feed), or challenge yourself to conquer Skiddaw, England’s fourth-highest mountain.

We’ll cross ancient stone bridges, skim stones on the glittering waters of Derwentwater, and marvel at the mystical Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle. But it’s not just about the hiking. This is a WeRoad trip, which means our evenings are dedicated to making new friends over hearty Cumbrian food (did someone say sticky toffee pudding?), roaring log fires, and tasting local ales in some of the UK’s most authentic pubs. It’s the ultimate 48-hour reset from city life. Boots on, pints pulled—let's go!

The Northern Lakes

Make your way to the heart of the Lake District! We meet in the late afternoon in Keswick, a town surrounded by giants (mountains, that is). After checking into our accommodation and meeting our Group Leader, we’ll head straight out to experience the local culture. That means one thing: the pub. We’ll enjoy a hearty Welcome Dinner at a local institution—think steak and ale pies or the famous local goulash—and toast to the weekend ahead. If the sky is clear, we might take a short stroll to the lake shore to see the stars reflected in the water.

The Ultimate View vs. The Big Summit

Fuel up on a hearty full English breakfast because today the mountains are calling! We offer two incredible ways to experience the fells:

  • Option 1: The Scenic Route (Walla Crag). For maximum views with moderate effort, we hike up to Walla Crag and the famous Surprise View. We’ll gaze down at the islands of Derwentwater before looping back via the ancient Ashness Bridge.

  • Option 2: The Big Mountain Challenge (Skiddaw) Feeling gritty? Join the crew tackling Skiddaw, England’s fourth-highest mountain. It’s a tough climb, but standing on the summit looking out over Scotland is unbeatable.

The Reward

We all reunite in the late afternoon. After a hot shower, we head straight to the Keswick Brewery (or a local craft beer house) for our included Tasting Flight. There is no better way to celebrate a summit than with a paddle of fresh Cumbrian ales! Dinner and a lively night out follow—you’ve earned it.

A circle of large standing stones sits in a grassy field with rolling hills and mountains in the background under a blue sky with white clouds.

Castlerigg Stone Circle

We can’t leave without a touch of history. On our final morning, we take a gentle walk up to Castlerigg Stone Circle. It’s one of the oldest in Britain (older than Stonehenge!) and sits in a dramatic amphitheatre of mountains. It’s a magical place and the perfect spot for a final group photo. We’ll head back into town for a traditional Sunday Roast to refuel before saying our goodbyes around 3 pm. You’ll leave with muddy boots, full stomachs, and a new crew of hiking buddies.
