Hi WeRoaders! I’m Sema — originally from Turkey, now living in the Netherlands for almost 10 years.
After several years working in tech as a data scientist and software engineer (including in travel-related companies!), I took a step back in 2024 to follow a long-time dream: traveling through South America for 7 months. That journey reminded me how much I value connection — with people, nature, and different ways of life — and made me realize that I want travel to stay a meaningful part of how I live and connect with others.
My love for discovering new places started back in my Erasmus year in Germany, and since then I’ve always found ways to fit travel into my life — whether it’s a weekend trip or a longer adventure. I love meeting people from different backgrounds, learning about history and culture, tasting local food, and simply being present in new surroundings. Some of the things I enjoy most while traveling: dancing salsa in Colombia or Cuba, hiking through mountain landscapes like Patagonia or the Andes, wandering in cities full of stories, or getting lost in the wild beauty of nature. I also love baking sourdough, yoga, long walks, and lately I’ve been having a lot of fun surfskating 🛹.
I believe traveling is even more special when shared — so I’m really looking forward to the journeys we’ll take together, with open minds and open hearts.
