In Sri Lanka, for beach time, the south coast draws visitors to places like Mirissa and Unawatuna, while the east coast is popular in a different season.
Shorter trips, around 8 days, usually focus on a few core areas built around temples and ocean time near Sigiriya and Kandy.

December to March is generally best for the west and south coasts, while April to September is often better for the east coast.
Sri Lankan food can be a highlight of the trip, with rice and curry and fresh seafood common on a group tour here.
