Itinerary

Bali is perhaps the most famous island in all of Indonesia and and we definitely understand why!

We start our once-in-a-lifetime tour from Seminyak, but we cannot stay long: the UNESCO heritage rice fields of Jatiluwih await us, along with the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan temple, which overlooks Lake Bratan creating magical reflections in the water. At Wanagiri Hill we will ride one of Bali's famous swings while at Lake Batur we will admire a sunrise that we will never forget. No Bali trip is completed without going to Ubud. Here, we will discover temples, rice fields and palaces as well as local restaurants to sample unique vegetarian and vegan dishes. We will then go back Kuta, where it all began – last bit of beach time in Seminyak before we say goodbye!

This trip will be a total immersion into the Indonesian culture to discover everything this country has to offer.

Welcome to Bali!

Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can decide when and where you want to depart! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travels to your needs.

Check-in at the hotel in Seminyak and join the Welcome Meeting to meet the rest of the group. We use the afternoon to settle in and recover from the jet lag! In the evening we go searching for the most characteristic restaurant to taste some typical dishes - coconut rice anyone?

Lush green terraced rice paddies and palm trees cover a hillside under a partly cloudy blue sky.

Let's get lost in the rice fields

Good morning Bali! We get ready to start exploring the island. Let's start from the rice fields, undoubtedly one of the first things that come to mind when talking about Bali: we visit Jatiluwih, same of the most beautiful rice terraces on the island. They have also become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We walk amongst the rice terraces and take our time to appreciate this landscape - and find the best spot to take some photos!

Indonesian temples

After lunch we leave for Lake Bratan, also one of the most iconic places in Bali. We cannot miss the Temple of Ulun Danu Bratan dedicated to the goddess of water Dewi Danu. We then continue to the Handara Gate, Bali’s Gate! Make sure your cameras and phones are charged because we already know we’ll drain the battery with all the photos we’ll take.

A woman, seen from behind, rides a large swing high above a lush jungle filled with palm trees.

A day full of adventures

After a big breakfast today, we dive into the Balinese rainforest—thick foliage, mysterious sounds and that mix of humidity and wonder that pulls you straight into nature.

We reach Gitgit, one of Bali’s most famous waterfalls. Powerful cascades, lush greenery and a touch of mist set the scene. We can swim, stand under the waterfall, take photos and enjoy the moment—soaked but happy. On the way back, we can stop at a local warung for a hot meal and a fresh juice.

Alternatively, we can choose a bicycle excursion through the tropical forest—think misty trails, abandoned temples and scenic winding paths, quite the adventure!

At the end of the day we'll continue on to Ubud, the beating heart of the island.

A woman seen from behind walks on a path towards an ornate split stone gate, with lush green trees and a mountain in the background.

Cooking class

Let's get ready to immerse ourselves in the Balinese culinary traditions with a private cooking class in the village of Bongkasa! We'll cook local dishes like the 'Gedang Mekuah' soup and the 'Pepes Ikan' grilled fish wrapped in banana leaf.

An afternoon to enjoy (and share!)

After lunch, it’s up to us! Temples, swings or a quad ride? We can start in Tegalalang and hop on the famous swings overlooking the rice terraces. Alternatively (or both, if we move quickly), we can take some time for ourselves with a purification ritual (Melukat) at the Taman Mumbul temple. The final option is a two-hour quad adventure.

Can’t decide? Our Group Leader will help us choose the best plan for the group. What matters is getting an early night—tomorrow’s wake-up call is very early.

A unique sunrise

We wake up around 2am (yes, it's early, but it is worth it!) and go out to enjoy a spectacular sunrise on Mount Batur. We then return to the hotel or, alternatively, we could go to the thermal baths of Toya Bungkah to relax big time – we have earned it!

Rafting, temples and the Monkey Forest

We head back to Ubud and—if we’ve got the courage and the energy—we take on the Ayung River with an exciting rafting session. After lunch, we've got time to explore Ubud and might want to take in some of its stunning temples like Pura Taman Saraswati and Puri Saren Palace.

Alternatively we can visit the Botanical Garden or walk the Campuhan Ridge, a lovely trail just outside Ubud leading to a scenic viewpoint over the valley.

Another spot we can’t miss in Ubud is the Monkey Forest: a sacred sanctuary where the monkeys rule. We’ll watch them in their natural habitat—climbing, swinging, grooming each other and, of course, stealing sunglasses from tourists…

A day at the beach

Good morning Ubud! Finally, a gentler wake-up call! We’ll use this day for any activities we don’t want to miss and couldn’t fit in earlier. When we’re ready, we head to Seminyak for our last day in Bali—yes, by the sea!

The last day

We wake up in the city where we started this journey, ready to make the most of our final day! This morning everyone can choose the activity they prefer: we could take part in a yoga class or choose total relaxation with a nice massage!

In the afternoon we have free time for some pre-departure shopping - or any other activity that pops into our minds! Last but certainly not least, our last dinner together before the end of the tour, so let's enjoy it to the fullest!

Check-out and farewell

We have to say goodbye: see you on the next WeRoad adventure!
