Welcome to Calgary!

Roundtrip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.

Arrival in Calgary to check in and meet your group leader and fellow WeRoaders! Today will be about exploring Calgary, getting to know each other and heading out for a relaxed welcome dinner.

Sunlight hits the peaks of snow-capped mountains which reflect in a calm, turquoise lake surrounded by a pine forest.

The mountains are calling!

Today we pick up our cars and head West, towards the mountains. Our first destination? Banff National Park, watching the landscape shift from prairie to peaks. Today we will do our first hike, Tunnel Mountain Hike, a moderately challenging 4.3km loop trail.

In the evening we will stay over in Banff, relaxing and resting before exploring the town in the evening.

A wide, calm lake is flanked by steep, forested mountains under a blue sky with fluffy white clouds.

Lakes, canoes and hiking, oh my!

Today we will head over to the magical Lake Minnewanka, the lake of spirits. For 10,000 years, the deep, glacial waters of Lake Minnewanka have captivated all who walk its shores. Archaeological sites along the lake reveal artifacts dating back more than 14,000 years, offering a powerful connection to the past.

We will explore this mystical place through the Stewart Canyon trail. This 7.6km hike is a nice leisurely one, great to rest up a bit!

After the hike you also have the option to canoe across the magnificent waters to view the lake from a whole new perspective!

A turquoise river with white rapids flows through a rocky gorge surrounded by dense green forest and moss-covered rocks.

Into the Canyon!

Today we will take the scenic Bow Valley Parkway on our way to our next destination, Lake Louise. Along the way, gets your cameras ready for a stopover at Johnston Canyon. Here we will explore the lower and upper falls, completing two different short hikes to experience the wonderful waterfalls and the canyon. These hikes are considered easy with a length of around 5km.

We will then continue onwards to Morant's Curve, a scenic viewpoint near Lake Louise, where we can see the dramatic bend of the Bow River.

Tonight we will stay the night in Lake Louise and settle beside one of Canada's most iconic lakes.

Plains of Six Glaciers Hike

Lace up your boots and summon your best energies, today we tackle one of the most famous hikes, Plains of Six Glaciers. This 14km, moderately challenging hike, is a loop near Lake Louise. This hike will give us amazing panoramic mountain and glacier views and also a stopover at the iconic Plain of Six Glaciers teahouse, to recharge before continuing on our hike.

After challenging ourselves this way, it's only fair for us to spend the rest of the day relaxing at Lake Louise.

A wooden lodge on a forested peninsula is reflected in a turquoise alpine lake with mountains in the background.

Yoho National Park

Today we venture to Yoho National Park. With unlimited choices for hiking trails, we can choose and tailor which suits us best after yesterday's challenge.

Yoho National park is home to some scenic locations such as Emerald Lake, Lake O'Hara and glacier-fed waterfalls like Laughing Falls, and Takakkaw Falls.

An elevated view of a bright turquoise lake surrounded by dense pine forests and rocky mountains under a cloudy sky.

Icefields Parkway

Another scenic drive awaits today, cruising along the Icefields Parkway on our way to Jasper.

Today's marvels include a stop over at Peyto Lake Lookout by walking through a sub-alpine forest. We will also stop over at Bow Lake, where we can just admire another beautiful glacier-fed lake, or venture into a 9km hike to Bow Glacier Falls.

However, if we are feeling particularly adventurous, we can complete the Athabasca Glacier hike, an optional guided glacier walk.

We finish the day in Jasper, a small yet lively community in Jasper National Park.

Lakes of every shade

Today we keep things a bit more relaxed with a visit to Jasper National Park, where a short scenic loop hike around some lakes will keep us mesmerised but entertained.

The rest of the day is ours for the taking, relax, take on another hike? The world is your National Park!

A small island with pine trees sits in a calm turquoise lake, surrounded by forests and snow-capped mountains.

Cruisin'

Take a dive into one of Jasper's jewels: Maligne Lake. Today we will board a scenic cruise which will take us to Spirit Island, a spiritual place for the Stoney Nakoda First Nation and one of the most famous photographed views of the Canadian Rockies.

After the cruise we can stop at Maligne Canyon for a short hike amongst waterfalls and dramatic rock formations.

Back down South

Today we have a long drive turning back down South for the final leg of our adventure. This time our destination is Kananaskis Country. We will say our goodbyes to Icefields Parkway one last time, enjoying the views for a final occasion.

To break up the trip we can stop at different viewing points before stopping for lunch at Saskatchewan River Crossing, a remote stop surrounded by mountain peaks where three rivers meet. The perfect point to rest and stretch our legs before continuing our journey.

Finally, we will arrive at Kananaskis Country, where between dramatic valleys and alpine scenery we will take it slow and unwind before our final mountain adventure.

The final hike

Our final hike leads us to the stunning Ptarmigan Crique, a trail filled with wildflowers, waterfalls and panoramic mountain views. This hike is considered easy, so how better to finish our hiking challenge?

As a perfect goodbye, we will visit Kananaskis Nordic Spa, to soak in the hot and cold pools to help our muscles finally rest and start to recover, all whilst surrounded by lush forest and peaks.

We will also return to Calgary for our goodbye dinner and final night.

Check-out and goodbye

All great things come to an end. Today we drop off the cars and get ready to say goodbye to our new buddies. One final group breakfast (or coffee) before we get on our flights. Until next time, Rockies team!
