A bit of history

Good morning, Campeche! It's time to say goodbye as we head to the breathtaking Uxmal archaeological site. From the moment we arrive, a mysterious aura envelops us. Legend has it that clapping our hands at the Temple of the Soothsayer's steep staircase will summon the sacred Quetzal bird's chirping. Let's try it and see! Uxmal, meaning "city built three times," showcases stunning temples adorned with Chaac's rain god masks. Keep an eye out for the fascinating iguanas that will accompany us on our journey. Let's embark on this extraordinary adventure!

Merida

Next, we continue our journey towards Merida. Upon arrival, we'll take a leisurely stroll through the city's historic centre, immersing ourselves in its fortified charm and cosmopolitan vibes. Merida, known as the "white city," boasts magnificent buildings and monuments crafted from a strikingly clear limestone. Explore the city's museums, art galleries, restaurants, and shops, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. As evening falls, Merida comes alive with bustling stalls and captivating music.

One of the 7 wonders

Get ready for our last Mayan ruin, the icing on the cake! Can you guess where we're headed? It's none other than Chichén Itzá, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Despite the violent wars that once engulfed the city, it remains remarkably well-preserved. We'll have the chance to explore the expansive Pelota Fields, where the Maya played a sport similar to football. If we're lucky, we might even witness the incredible optical effect during the spring and autumn equinoxes, where the feathered serpent god Kukulkan appears to descend the temple's 365-step staircase. Get ready for a breathtaking experience!

Cenotes

On our eleventh day of travel, there's one essential experience we can't miss: a visit to a cenote! We'll stop for lunch at the stunning Ik Kil, renowned as one of the most beautiful cenotes in Mexico. Don't forget your swimwear!

In the afternoon, we hit the road again, with approximately three hours of travel ahead. Our final destination is Cancun, where our incredible journey comes to an end. Let's make the most of our time left in this tropical paradise!
