Northern Italy Express: Milan, Lake Como & Turin

Itinerary
Northern Italy in miniature: elegant, tasty, creative, effortlessly chic. In five days you'll trade Milan's polished boulevards for Lake Como's postcard villages, then step into Turin's arcaded piazzas and royal history. Expect cobblestone streets, alpine air drifting off the lake, unhurried espresso breaks, and at least one perfect aperitivo at golden hour with people who were strangers 48 hours ago.
We open in Milan, Italy's fashion and design capital including Duomo rooftop, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Castello Sforzesco. Then we swap skyscrapers for shorelines with a day escape to Lake Como, riding a century-old funicular before sailing between Bellagio and Varenna. We close with a day trip to Turin, tasting the chocolate that made it famous and wandering the arcades of the first capital of unified Italy.

Welcome to Milan

Check-in: our adventure starts in Milan
No flights or transfers are included, so you're free to arrive on your own schedule. The group meets in Milan at 18:00. After check-in, we head straight into the Navigli district for an aperitivo welcome drink as the canals catch the evening light — the classic Milanese way to kick off a trip. Dinner afterward is relaxed and optional, a chance to start putting names to faces before the real exploring begins tomorrow.

Milan Highlights
1 night: Milan
Milano Classics
A full day in Italy's most stylish city. Start at the Duomo, then climb to its rooftop terraces for a view over the city's spires and, on a clear day, the Alps beyond. From there, stroll the 19th-century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan's grandest shopping arcade, before crossing to Castello Sforzesco and a green break in Parco Sempione. The afternoon is yours: art at the Brera Gallery, browsing the fashion district's flagship stores, or simply people-watching over a coffee in one of the piazzas. In the evening, the group regroups for a proper trattoria milanese dinner, think risotto alla milanese and ossobuco.

Lake Como: Bellagio & Varenna
1 night: Milan
Lake Como Adventure
Time to trade the city for the lake. A morning train takes us to Como, where the mountains drop straight into the water. First stop: the historic Como–Brunate funicular, a short, steep climb rewarded with sweeping views over the lake, worth the short walk further to the Volta Lighthouse for the best panorama of the day. Back down at the shore, we board a ferry across the water to Bellagio, the "Pearl of Lake Como," for a wander through its steep, flower-draped alleys. A second ferry hop takes us to Varenna, quieter and just as beautiful, for gelato by the water before the train back to Milan.

Turin: First Capital of Italy
1 night: Milan
Day Trip to Turin
A morning train carries us to Turin, elegant and understated where Milan is flashy. Between baroque palazzi and café-lined arcades, Turin tells the story of Italy's unification, this was the country's first capital. Highlights include Piazza San Carlo, the city's grand baroque living room, and the Mole Antonelliana, Turin's iconic spire and home to the National Cinema Museum. No visit is complete without tasting bicerin, Turin's signature layered drink of coffee, chocolate, and cream. Those with extra time can duck into the Egyptian Museum, the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities outside Cairo, before the evening train back to Milan for one last group dinner.
