Itinerary

What’s better than starting your Caribbean adventure on the enchanting island of Puerto Rico? A destination where tropical rhythm, Latin passion, and North American energy blend into one unforgettable experience.

Our journey begins in San Juan, a colorful capital alive with music, street art, and a vibrant cultural mix. From there, we’ll head deep into the lush El Yunque National Forest—the only tropical rainforest in the U.S.—where waterfalls, trails, and wild beauty create the perfect playground for explorers.

Next, we sail to Culebrita, a pristine island crowned by the world-famous Flamenco Beach, often ranked among the most beautiful on Earth. Down south, the surreal pink salt flats of Cabo Rojo await, glowing like a dream against the turquoise sea.

We’ll kayak through bioluminescent bays, spot manatees near tranquil mangroves, and—if the season is right—watch whales breach off the western coast. For thrill-seekers, surfing in Rincón and sunset drinks at Crash Boat Beach bring the perfect mix of adrenaline and chill. Before returning to San Juan, we’ll visit the breathtaking Window Cave (Cueva Ventana) for one final view to remember.

This isn’t just a trip—it’s an adventure for the soul. You’ll make new friends, live unforgettable moments, and fall in love with the natural and cultural magic of Puerto Rico — the island that has it all.

San Juan, The Capital

Welcome to San Juan, the vibrant capital of Puerto Rico — where the adventure kicks off! Get ready to meet your travel crew at our welcome meeting before diving straight into the city’s colorful streets, alive with rhythm, history, and that unmistakable Caribbean energy. As the sun sets, we’ll feast on a hearty Puerto Rican dinner — think mofongo, arroz con gandules, and slow-roasted lechón, all paired with an ice-cold piña colada (born right here!). Laughter, music, and the smell of plantains fill the air — the perfect way to start your island escape. And the night doesn’t stop there… will we chill under the stars or hit the dance floor in Isla Verde resort strip which is known for its bars, nightclubs and casinos. Salsa beats tonight? After all, San Juan is the birthplace of salsa — and the party’s just getting started!

Waterfall and natural ponds

Today’s all about nature, adventure, and that wild Puerto Rican energy! We’re heading deep into El Yunque National Forest — the only tropical rainforest in the entire U.S. and a true natural wonder. Get ready to hike through lush emerald canopies, spot tropical birds and coquí frogs, and cool off under hidden waterfalls that tumble into crystal-clear natural pools. The air smells like rain and adventure — this is Puerto Rico at its purest! After our jungle escape, we’ll recharge with a traditional Puerto Rican dinner: crispy tostones, fresh-caught seafood, and a hearty plate of mofongo (mashed plantains with garlic and love). Add a splash of piña colada and good company, and you’ve got the perfect end to a day in paradise.

Luquillo or Farjado

Depending on where we stay tonight, we’ll dive into the local magic of Luquillo or Fajardo — two gems of Puerto Rico’s east coast.

If it’s Luquillo, get ready for laid-back surf vibes, golden beaches, and sunset strolls that feel straight out of a postcard. We’ll wander by the famous Luquillo Kiosks, where sizzling grills, music, and mojitos fill the night air — the perfect place to toast to new adventures (and maybe a little romance!).

If we’re in Fajardo, the ocean is our backdrop — this coastal hub is known for its sparkling marinas, island views, and the bioluminescent bay that glows under the stars. After dinner by the water, we might dip our toes in the glowing lagoon or dance under the moonlight. Whether it’s the easygoing charm of Luquillo or the sea breeze of Fajardo — tonight is pure Puerto Rican magic.

Culebra & Culebrita

Get ready for a dreamy island escape as we sail from Puerto Rico to Culebra and Culebrita — two Caribbean gems that feel like paradise found! Our adventure begins with a scenic ferry ride or private boat, where turquoise waters sparkle under the sun. Once on Culebra, we’ll soak up the world-famous Flamenco Beach, ranked among the top beaches globally for its powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters — perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or just lounging hand-in-hand.

Then, we’ll hop to Culebrita, a tiny, uninhabited islet with hidden coves, pristine coral reefs, and a romantic lighthouse. Snorkel in calm lagoons, spot tropical fish, and feel the freedom of untouched nature. With warm sun, gentle waves, and powder-soft sands, this day is designed for adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable memories. By sunset, we’ll toast to the Caribbean magic — a picture-perfect, Instagram-ready day.

Vieques & the Glowing bay

If the time of year is right and it’s the perfect night, we’ll escape to Vieques Island for an unforgettable experience in the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay — Mosquito Bay. Paddle hand-in-hand through glowing waters that sparkle with every stroke, surrounded by mangroves and the soft sounds of nature. This magical night is pure romance and adventure, perfect for couples and friends alike. Imagine snorkeling under stars, feeling the glow light up around you, and capturing memories that last forever. Vieques isn’t just a destination — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime Caribbean experience that will dazzle your senses and steal your heart. If it’s not the perfect time to see this phenomenon, don’t worry — there are three bioluminescent bays in Puerto Rico.

"Ruta del lechon"

Before reaching La Parguera, we’ll stop along Puerto Rico’s legendary Ruta del Lechón — the island’s famous “pork highway.” Here, open-air lechoneras slow-roast whole pigs over charcoal for hours, filling the air with the irresistible aroma of crispy skin and tender, smoky meat. This stretch of road is a food lover’s paradise and a must for anyone wanting to taste authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Locals gather here every weekend to eat, dance, and celebrate, turning lunch into a true fiesta. Pair your lechón with arroz con gandules, fried plantains, and a cold local beer, and you’ll understand why this meal is the island’s ultimate comfort food. It’s the perfect stop to fuel up, laugh together, and savor the real flavor of Puerto Rico before continuing south toward the vibrant colors, art, and rhythm of Ponce.

La Parguera

We’ll arrive in La Parguera by late afternoon, just in time to catch the sunset painting the mangroves gold. This laid-back coastal village in Puerto Rico’s southwest is famous for its calm lagoons, colorful stilt houses, and warm, unhurried charm. If we have time, we’ll dip our toes in the water or grab a drink by the pier before sitting down for a hearty dinner — think fresh seafood and mofongo at Moons Bar & Tapas or El Karacol, local favorites known for their island flavors and ocean views.

Then, as darkness falls, the real magic begins: a bioluminescent bay tour, where every paddle stroke lights up the sea around us. It’s one of the most romantic, awe-inspiring sights in Puerto Rico — a glowing natural wonder you’ll remember forever. If the glow doesn’t appear tonight, don’t worry — we’ll have another chance in Luquillo later in the trip.

These pink salt flats shift color with the sunlight, creating a dreamlike mirror effect that’s perfect for photos and birdwatching. From here, we’ll continue to the dramatic Los Morrillos Cliffs and the iconic Cabo Rojo Lighthouse, standing proudly above turquoise waters where the Caribbean and Atlantic meet. The views are breathtaking — the kind that make you fall in love with travel all over again. As evening falls, we’ll head to El Poblado de Boquerón, a lively coastal village filled with open-air bars, music, and the scent of fried fish and tostones. It’s the perfect place to end the day — a mix of local life, sea breeze, and Caribbean rhythm that captures the true essence of Puerto Rico’s west coast. Is it time to party?

Surf in the USA

Today, it’s all about living like a local in Rincón, Puerto Rico’s surf capital and laid-back coastal paradise. Start your morning with the golden sun over Domes Beach, where surfers from around the world chase perfect waves. For the adventurous, join a 2-hour lesson with a local surf instructor — ride the waves, fall, and laugh your way through an unforgettable experience. Prefer to relax? Lounge on the soft sand with a Piña Colada in hand, soaking up the Caribbean sun. As the day winds down, we’ll head to a sunset cocktail spot overlooking the ocean, where the sky ignites in shades of orange and pink. Stroll along Steps Beach, watch the surfers, sip your cocktail, and feel the laid-back surf-town vibe. Today is all about adventure, relaxation, and living the authentic Rincón lifestyle like a true islander.

We’ll continue to the Bandera de los Reyes, a massive hillside flag painted by local artists after Hurricane María as a symbol of hope and unity — and one of the island’s most photographed viewpoints. Next, we’ll explore El Parterre, the city’s oldest landmark, built around the Ojo de Agua, a natural spring that supplied Spanish ships in the 1500s and helped Aguadilla flourish as a coastal port. Then it’s time for the sea: we’ll head to Crash Boat Beach, where turquoise waters, colorful fishing boats, and lively food kiosks create the perfect Caribbean vibe for lunch. The afternoon continues at Peña Blanca Beach, a peaceful hidden cove of white sand and crystal clarity, the perfect sunset spot.

Survival beach adventure

Survival Beach is one of Puerto Rico’s most stunning hidden gems, perfect for a group adventure on the northwest coast near Aguadilla. Accessible by a scenic 20–25 minute hike from Surfer’s Beach, the beach rewards you with dramatic limestone cliffs, golden sand, and sparkling turquoise waters — a truly Instagram-worthy setting. The wide shoreline makes it ideal for team photos, group games, or just relaxing together. Explore tidal pools, natural rock formations, and hidden coves while soaking in the Caribbean sun.

The window cave

This afternoon, we’ll explore Cueva Ventana (Window Cave), one of Puerto Rico’s most iconic natural landmarks. Perched high on a limestone cliff above the Arecibo River valley, the cave offers a breathtaking panoramic view that frames lush greenery, winding rivers, and distant mountains — a perfect Instagram-worthy spot for your group photos. The short hike to the entrance is easy and scenic, passing tropical vegetation and small streams, giving everyone a chance to connect with Puerto Rico’s natural beauty. Inside the cave, stalactites and stalagmites create a mystical atmosphere, while the cliffside viewpoint delivers a dramatic perspective of the Caribbean landscape below. Cueva Ventana is not only a geological wonder but also a cultural and historical site, as the Taíno people once used it for shelter and ceremonies. A must-see for group adventures and photography enthusiasts exploring Puerto Rico’s northwest.

Back to San Juan

Back in San Juan, we’ll celebrate the end of our adventure in true Puerto Rican style. First, we’ll visit the world-famous Casa Bacardí, the historic home of the island’s legendary rum. Choose between an immersive rum tasting, learning the craft behind Puerto Rico’s iconic spirit, or a cocktail-making class, mixing tropical creations under expert guidance. Explore the distillery, vibrant murals, and rooftop terrace with stunning San Juan views — perfect for group photos and unforgettable moments. Afterwards, we’ll head to a magical dinner in Old San Juan, where cobblestone streets, lantern-lit plazas, and colonial charm set the scene. Enjoy hearty mofongo, fresh seafood, and local cocktails as we toast our journey. To end the night, we’ll dance to salsa rhythms, moving together to the infectious beats of Puerto Rico and celebrating a farewell full of laughter, music, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Back to the Capital

Our final morning in San Juan arrives too soon. The city feels different now — familiar, warm, and full of memories. We’ll wander once more through its colorful streets, stopping for souvenirs in local shops where laughter and music spill out onto the cobblestones. Maybe a hand-painted tile, a bottle of Puerto Rican rum, or simply a photo that captures the spirit of this island we’ve come to love. Every corner seems to echo the stories we’ve lived together — from rainforest trails to glowing bays and golden beaches. As we share one last coffee overlooking the old fort or the sea, it’s time for goodbyes — to Puerto Rico, but also to the friends who became family. We’ll leave a piece of our hearts here, carrying with us the rhythm, warmth, and magic of an island that made us feel so alive.

What's the time zone in Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico is in the Atlantic Standard Time (AST) zone. It does not observe daylight saving time, so clocks stay the same all year round. If it is 12 pm in the UK, it will be 8 am in Puerto Rico. If it is 12 pm in New York City, it will be 12 pm in Puerto Rico as well, as Puerto Rico shares the same time with the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone when the US is on standard time. However, when the US switches to daylight saving time, Puerto Rico is one hour behind the Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Which currency is used in Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico uses the United States Dollar (USD). You won't need to worry about exchanging currency if you're coming from the United States. However, if you're traveling from the UK or Europe, you may want to exchange your British Pounds (GBP) or Euros (EUR) to USD before arriving. You can do this at currency exchange centers or major banks. The exchange rates can vary, so check them before you go.

Just keep in mind that some small businesses might prefer cash payments, so having some cash on hand can be useful.

Do I need to tip in Puerto Rico?

In Puerto Rico, tipping is customary and similar to the United States. For restaurants, a tip of 15 to 20 percent of the bill is standard. If you're at a bar, you might tip around a dollar per drink. For taxis, rounding up the fare or adding a few dollars is appreciated. Hotel staff like bellhops usually receive a dollar per bag, and housekeepers might get a few dollars per day. Make sure to check if a service charge is already included in your bill to avoid double tipping.

Keep in mind that your appliances should be compatible with 120 V to avoid damage.

What is the Money Pot and how does it work?

The question of all questions! Here’s some more information:

  • The Money Pot is a common fund collected in local currency from all travellers on the trip and managed by your Travel Coordinator.
  • It is used to streamline payments for extra activities, goods and services that the whole group decides to do. This guarantees flexibility in choosing activities and excursions at the destination in line with the mood of the group.
  • It is typically collected on the first day of the trip in local currency, although at times, the Travel Coordinator may ask for it to be paid before departure.
  • You’ll find the Money Pot amount on the website under the section ‘What’s included in the Money Pot’. To find this look for ‘What’s included’, scroll down to ‘Money Pot? Click here’ and you’ll find the details.
  • The amount varies depending on the destination chosen.
  • It is usually used for group expenses that all travellers decide to take part in, but sometimes if you opt out of an activity it might make more sense for it to come out of the Money Pot. In these cases the Coordinator will return the amount for this activity back to you at the end of the trip.
  • It is estimated based on the experience of other groups but can vary depending on what activities your group is keen for. As such, the Travel Coordinator may need to increase the amount during the trip.
  • If not all of the Money Pot is spent, the difference will be returned to all travellers at the end of the trip.
  • The Money Pot also covers the Travel Coordinator’s share of the activities included in the Money Pot, except for those activities that are free for the Travel Coordinator.
  • If you pay in advance for part of the Money Pot before the trip for certain non-refundable optional activities, unfortunately, the amount cannot be refunded if the trip is cancelled.
What payment methods can I use?

We offer several payment methods to fit every need:

1. Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express);
2. Instalment payment with Klarna (you’ll pay for the trip in three equal amounts);
3. PayPal (for selected destinations);
4. Revolut Pay to pay even faster straight from your Revolut account.

Can I cancel or modify my booking?

In case of cancellation up to 31 days before departure, you will receive a 100% refund of the WeRoad trip price. If you make a change, a price adjustment will be applied to the new trip chosen – meaning, if the new trip is cheaper, we will refund the difference; if it’s more expensive, you will need to pay the difference.

If you’ve purchased the Flexible Cancellation Option (which you can add in the first step of the booking process), you can request a cancellation or trip change until 8 days before departure. In case of cancellation, you’ll receive a 100% refund of the WeRoad trip price, minus the cost of the Flexible Cancellation option.

Within your booking you will find the "Change Your Trip" section at the bottom right, just underneath your booking details. For your original booking if you selected the Private Room, Flexible Cancellation or entered any discount code, gift card or voucher, before confirming the change we will let you know if anything isn't applicable to the new trip and you can decide whether to proceed or not. If you have any issues please do get in touch with the WeRoad team and we'll be able to help.

It's not possible to move to a 'sold out' trip and with any trips that are 'on request' we will need to check availability with our local partners so please do get in touch if you want to move to an 'on request' trip. Please bear in mind that if the trip has the 'final spots' status, there may be no places left in either the male or female room.

How to request a cancellation or change to your trip? Send us an email at [email protected] or a WhatsApp on +447716573700. Please share the booking reference for the trip you want to cancel or change, and, in case of a change, the new trip you would like to join.

For our trips we usually use locally owned accommodation instead of big hotel chains. It’s our favourite way to really experience the local culture and, whenever we can, support the local economy. Typically, you’ll stay in hotels, apartments, guesthouses and hostels with the same standard maintained across all trips in the same destination.

The list of accommodation for your trip will be shared with you by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful details for your adventure!

Yes! We might not know the flights for everyone else in the group, but there are ways to find out which flights your fellow WeRoaders will be taking.

1. All travellers can share their flight details after booking on their My WeRoad account so that other travellers on the same trip can see these details anonymously.

2. Alternatively you can join our Facebook group: Solo Travellers | WeRoad Community – (here is the extended link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/963298767843213 ) Look for a post about the trip you’re interested in or ask the group admin for help in getting in touch with your future travel companions!

Each group will be joined and led by one of our experienced Travel Coordinators, who’s there to ensure everything runs smoothly and the group feels well-supported.

If you’d like to know more about our typical WeRoad groups do reach out to us on WhatsApp on +44 7716573700.

Can I see who’s in the group before I book the trip?

Yes! If you're curious, you can take a sneak peek at the group before booking.
You’ll find the info in the ‘Group’ section for each trip on the departures page, showing how many WeRoaders have already booked.

If a location is mentioned, is it guaranteed that we’ll spend the night there?

For some trips, in the itinerary section, you’ll find the number of nights and the location (not the hotel) where you’ll be spending the night(s). The location shown is the one we usually go for on most trips, but in some cases, you might stay in a nearby town. This will depend on logistics or availability of accommodation.

The list of accommodation for your trip (and therefore also the exact locations) will be shared by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful information for your adventure!

Who is the Travel Coordinator and what is their role on the trip?

The WeRoad Travel Coordinator is an experienced and skilled traveller who will be the perfect companion for your trip. They will manage all the logistical aspects of the itinerary like transport, timings, accommodation, restaurant bookings and meeting points, so that you can enjoy the trip without this hassle. They’re there to support the group, ensure everything runs smoothly and will no doubt make the trip a lot of fun along the way too!

The Coordinator will set up a WhatsApp group approximately 2 weeks before departure. This will be the moment to ask any pre-departure questions and get to know the rest of the group! If the trip you are interested in already has a Travel Coordinator assigned, you can contact them before booking. Their details will be on the trip page, or you can search for their name here. After booking, you will find their contact details in your My WeRoad account, under ‘Bookings and Trips’ > ‘Your Upcoming Trips’ > ‘Trip Details’.

Will I be sharing a room?

Yes, on all our trips you will share a room with other WeRoaders in your group. By default this will be people of the same gender, unless you tick ‘I'm OK with a mixed gender room’ when you book. The bathroom will either be private or shared only with other travellers on the trip. The rooms might be twins, triples, quadruples or multi-share (up to 8 people in exceptional cases), depending on the destination and availability.

You will never share with people from outside of the WeRoad group, except in certain cases for local experiences, which are specifically mentioned in the itinerary or communicated before booking. These typically involve specific nights in unique accommodation like tents, homestays, or camping, offering a more adventurous travel experience in exchange for some comfort.

On some of our trips we can offer a private room for an additional cost. Just tick the ‘Private Room’ option at checkout to get this added. For some of our trips if you book as two travellers together you can add this private room free of charge. Look out for this option at checkout.

Please note that if you do book a private room with a friend/partner this could be either a double or a twin room so please email [email protected] if you have a preference on this.

How can I be part of the WeRoad community?

When you set off on a WeRoad trip, you’re officially a WeRoader – and as we often say, 'once a WeRoader, always a WeRoader'. This means that once you’re part of the community, a little piece of WeRoad will always stay with you.

But you’re not just a WeRoader during your trips, far from it! The community is alive and active all year round: you can stay in touch by following and interacting on our social media channels, like the Facebook group or the Instagram profile. You can also come along to one of our many events that we run in different cities worldwide. Check out and sign up to our events by downloading the WeMeet app here
