Indonesia 360°: Bali, Java, and Lombok

Itinerary
A 12-day group adventure across Indonesia, island-hopping between Java, Bali, and Lombok. We’re talking pure, unadulterated exploration: wild nature, hidden temples, cheeky monkeys, and beaches that look like they’ve been photoshopped. That’s the short version, but keep reading—we’re pretty sure you’ll be hitting that ‘book’ button before you finish.
After landing in Bali, we’ll head straight to Java—an island of pure charm and contrasts. Here, we’ll tick off one of the trip’s absolute highlights: sunrise on Mount Bromo, surrounded by lunar landscapes and smoking craters. The next day? We’re jumping into 4x4 jeeps to venture through plantations and rural villages, getting up close and personal with the most authentic side of Java.
Next up is Ubud, the spiritual heart of Bali: endless green rice paddies, the famous Monkey Forest, and temples tucked away in the jungle. Then it’s off to Lombok—the wild, off-the-beaten-path island. Think dream beaches in Senggigi, traditional Sasak villages, and inland trekking. And of course, no trip is complete without popping over to the Gili Islands for some snorkeling in turquoise waters and sunset drinks.
We’ll wrap things up at a beach club in Seminyak, cocktails in hand, sand between our toes. This is one of those trips that truly makes you feel alive. Backpack on—let’s go!

Welcome to Indonesia!
Check-in: our adventure kicks off in Bali!
Round-trip flights to and from the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide where to depart from, at what time, and with your preferred airline... This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!
Check-in at the hotel in Bali (here’s how the meeting works!) and then we’ll all head to dinner to start getting to know each other and get ready to experience this magical adventure! The first dish to try here? Obviously nasi goreng, made with rice, vegetables, and meat!

Malang: history, color, and pure authenticity!
All aboard the becak!
This morning it's already time to say goodbye to Bali (but we'll be back soon!) as we set off for Java. We land in Surabaya and head straight to Malang, a perfect mix of colonial charm and local culture. Hopping on a becak (local rickshaw), we'll start exploring the city: from Boulevard Ijen, with its elegant Dutch villas and flower-lined streets, to the vibrant Chinese temple, a symbol of the harmony between Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism.
A must-see stop is Kampung Jodipan, the rainbow village born from a student project that turned it into an explosion of color, perfect for photos! Then, we'll head to the Tugu Monument and the flower market, before immersing ourselves in the authentic atmosphere of Kampung Kayoetangan, where life flows slowly among shops and traditions. Our last stop is Toko Oen, a historic cafe with a colonial vibe, before heading to the hotel for a quick shower – the evening continues, obviously! It's only day two, surely we aren't tired already?!

Discovering East Java, all the way to the slopes of Mount Bromo.
On the road through Indonesian landscapes
Did we manage to get a few hours of sleep? Perfect, because the alarm is set for 2 AM and there's no time to linger under the covers. Bundle up (it’s freezing, so layer up!) and then we’ll hop in a jeep that will take us almost to the top of the mountain in less than half an hour. From there, we’ll admire the sunrise over Mount Bromo – the main reason we made the trip!
We’ll arrive just before the sun peeks over the horizon: watching Mount Bromo slowly light up as the sun’s rays hit it is going to be incredible; it’ll leave us speechless for a while. Let’s soak in this unique moment in the heart of nature. Then, we’ll head back to base camp, still buzzing from the sunrise, and set off for our next stop, Kalibaru: lush plantations, countryside, and fresh hill air – the quieter, more rural side of Java.
*Bring warm layers: temperatures on Bromo can drop below 10°C (50°F)

Jeep tour through the plantations and transfer to Banyuwangi
We’ll set off in the morning in a local jeep to explore the Kalibaru countryside: traditional villages, crops, and the Margo Utomo plantation. Between dirt roads and lush green landscapes, we’ll discover local tropical crops, see how the land is worked here, and chat with the local farmers. No staged performances for tourists, just the real daily life of this corner of Java. Closed-toe shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle are your best friends today. Naturally, the crops we visit depend on the season—nature calls the shots.
After lunch, we’ll head to Banyuwangi, our final stop before returning to Bali.

From Java to Bali: let's discover a new island!
Kawah Ijen: acid lake and blue fire
Alarm set for early again... but trust us, it’s worth it, because we’re heading up the Ijen volcano. This place is famous for two pretty unique features: it’s home to the world’s largest acid lake and those famous blue flames! Getting to the top of the volcano isn't too tough, but the second part of the trek gets a bit more intense. At this point, we’ll need to descend into the crater to reach the acid lake and catch a glimpse of the blue flames—those mesmerizing blue flickers caused by sulfur reacting with oxygen. The descent requires a bit of focus and the route gets trickier thanks to the lake's gases—we'll be equipped with masks, of course, but it’s a decent workout, which is why the descent is optional. If we decide to venture into the heart of the volcano, though, we’ll be well-rewarded: sunrise here hits differently!
Welcome to Bali!
Once we’re back at the starting point (the whole excursion takes about 6 hours), we’ll grab our backpacks and hit the road to Bali. First a minivan, then a ferry, and we’re back on the most famous island in Indonesia, where our journey began and where it now continues. After recharging our batteries, we’ll decide what’s next: we could head to the Git Git waterfalls for a swim, or check out the iconic Ulun Danu Bratan temple. We’ll arrive in Ubud by evening, where we can finally kick back… maybe with a nice massage!

Ubud: Monkey Forest and an afternoon of yoga
Sacred Monkey: getting up close with Indonesian mythology
This morning, we can choose to visit a true rainforest oasis right on the edge of the city. Beyond the cute monkeys—the real hosts here—who’ll try to make friends with us (aka steal our snacks), our attention will be drawn to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. It’s a temple as wonderful as it is bizarre, thanks to the sheer number of statues depicting animals and mythical creatures from Indonesian folklore.
Afternoon of pure relaxation!
Let's spend the rest of the day just the way we like. Ubud is one of the world capitals for yoga and spirituality, so what better place to take a class or visit a temple to cleanse your spirit, like Tirta Empul? If you prefer the great outdoors, we can take a walk through the rice paddies: for those who aren't too tired to keep moving, the area around the city is packed with forests, temples, and waterfalls!

Amidst rice paddies, adventure, and Balinese tradition
Time to get cooking!
Let's keep exploring Ubud, the beating heart of Bali, where nature and culture collide in the best way possible. We'll get lost among the spectacular Tegalalang rice terraces, exploring postcard-perfect landscapes on a quad bike—expect mud, hidden trails, and rural villages along the way.
We can also check out the mystical Goa Gajah, a temple carved right into the rock, famously known as the Elephant Cave. And to really get a taste of authentic Balinese tradition, we'll dive into a cooking class: surrounded by fragrant spices and local recipes, we'll master the art of making classics like nasi goreng and sate ayam.

Lombok: next stop, Senggigi!
Bye-bye, Bali!
After these incredible days in Bali, it’s time to say goodbye to the island... and set off for the next one! After hotel pick-up, we'll head to Sanur port, ready to set sail for Lombok! In about 90 minutes, we’ll land in Bangsal, where the vibe changes instantly: fewer crowds, more authenticity.
The rest of the day? It’s up to us! Plenty of free time, perfect for exploring local warungs or chilling on a postcard-perfect beach. Lombok is waiting for us!

Sea, beaches, and total relaxation in Lombok.
Paradise on Earth
Waking up to the gentle sound of waves and a light sea breeze rustling through the palms. No rigid schedule, just pure relaxation: the sea in front of us is a perfect shade of turquoise, making a dip impossible to resist. After a refreshing swim, we let the sun lull us on loungers with an endless view, tropical cocktail in hand.
In the afternoon, we decide to explore the underwater world: mask, snorkel, and go. We're diving into a natural aquarium. The corals are exploding with color, and tropical fish swim around us in a perfect dance. With a bit of luck, we even spot a sea turtle watching us curiously before disappearing into the deep blue. The day ends just like that, with the sound of the sea and the realization that we're in a corner of the world where time seems to stand still.

Yoga, surfing, and massages – how does that sound?
Today, we're not thinking about a thing!
How about a morning yoga session? Your mat is the soft sand, and your soundtrack is the gentle sound of waves breaking on the shore. Take a deep breath, stretch it out, and let go of all that tension. Time slows down here, and every movement feels like a gift to yourself. Or, if you’re craving a bit more adrenaline, grab a surfboard and try to tame those waves—it's your call!
But the relaxation doesn't stop there—it’s time for a well-deserved Balinese massage. Let the expert hands of local therapists work their magic while coconut-scented oils melt away every trace of fatigue. It’s the kind of experience that reconnects you with your body and the slow, easy rhythm of this magical place. The sunset catches us off guard again with its breathtaking colors, and we’re already dreaming of the next adventure. Tomorrow? Here in Indonesia, we’re the ones setting the pace of our holiday.

Back in Bali: last night under the stars
Beach clubs and unforgettable memories
It’s never easy to leave Lombok. We’ve gotten used to the island’s slow pace, the sound of the ocean waking us up, and those fiery, picture-perfect sunsets. But today marks our return to Bali, the final stop on a trip we wish could last forever.
We set sail this morning, wind in our hair, eyes fixed on the horizon. As Bali’s silhouette comes into view, we’re hit with a mix of emotions: nostalgia for the days behind us and pure excitement for an evening that’s bound to be legendary. Destination? Seminyak, to make sure our final night is one for the books.
As the sun starts its slow descent, we’re ready to wrap up this adventure the right way: by hitting one of the island’s most iconic beach clubs. Bali, thanks for every sunset, every wave, and every single emotion. This isn’t goodbye, just a "see you later"!
Goodbye, Indonesia! It's been a blast.
Check-out and goodbyes
We're all getting ready to head back home: let's be real, you're never the same person after a trip as you were when you left. We’ve seen new places, met incredible people, soaked up different cultures, and had experiences that completely shift how you see the world. These are the memories that stick with you forever and become the best stories to share once you're back!
