Itinerary

An organized group trip to Indonesia to discover Bali and Lombok , perhaps the two most famous islands of the entire archipelago. We will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Indonesian culture and fall in love with it, first in Bali, where the slow rhythms and calm vibes will allow us to take a journey also (and above all) within ourselves, and then in the wild Lombok, which is a less famous little Bali and touristy, and perhaps for this reason still authentic and fascinating.

Our journey starts in Seminyak , one of the most famous beaches in Bali, and from nearby Kuta , another iconic place in this corner of Indonesia. However, we don't stay here for long: the exclusive island of Menjangan awaits us, a small earthly paradise - to reach it we will cross the typical landscapes of this country, made up of tidy rice fields and temples that emerge from the green vegetation. Our journey then continues in the spiritual Ubud : here we will immerse ourselves in the vibes of the place, first exploring the famous Monkey Forest (where we will make friends with some monkeys) and then finding peace in Tirta Empul, a temple where we can participate in a traditional rite of purification, and finally putting ourselves to the test in a cooking class, to learn how to cook some local dishes. We pass through Sideman , the most authentic area of Bali, and come full circle to Lombok with a stop at the incredible Gili Islands , where there is no means of transport outside of bicycles, donkeys and horses - and boats, of course! It will be a full immersion to discover Indonesian culture, food, the traditions of this country, as spiritual and welcoming as it is beautiful.

Check-in: Our trip starts from Seminyak

Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!

We'll take the afternoon to settle in - and recover from jet lag! We find ourselves on the beach for the first Indonesian sunset - so we get our trip off to a great start! - and then we go together in search of the most characteristic restaurant we can find and taste some typical dishes. The choice is really wide, but to start there is no doubt: coconut rice for everyone!

A day to recover

The best way to get rid of jet lag?! Simple: a day of rest - it helps you recover your strength, relax and give your best in the following days. A good dose of relaxation and free time awaits us in Seminyak . We can stay here and enjoy the long beach dotted with beach bars, or wander around the shopping streets to buy some local souvenirs or try a Balinese massage; or, we are very close to another icon of the island: Kuta , a small paradise for surfers, where we could throw ourselves into the waves! Here the sea is gentle and we won't have any problems even if it will be our first time on the surfboard : one thing is certain though... we will make some slips and it will be funny! The day is all to ourselves until sunset, when it's the right time to sit in one of the many poufs overlooking the sea and sip a nice cocktail. This evening it's repeated: we find a bar that inspires us to try Balinese arak-based cocktails - just to give us the energy to do a dance step!

En route to Menjangan

Good morning Bali! Waking up in this little earthly paradise makes everything sweeter: we get ready and then we are ready to start exploring the island. We load our backpacks on the minivan and set off in a northerly direction: our final destination is the island of Menjangan , but along the way we have time to visit some unmissable places. Let's start with a bang with the Tanah Lot , a beautiful Hindu temple located on an islet 100 meters off the south-east coast of Bali. Built by a priest in the 16th century, the temple is dedicated to the guardian spirits of the sea and is believed to be guarded by dangerous sea serpents. When the tide is high, the rock on which Pura Tanah Lot is located is almost completely submerged, but for a few hours a day it is possible to walk to the temple without almost getting wet.

We then continue with a visit to the Belimbing rice fields , an authentic spectacle of nature! We stop to have something to eat and continue to our hotel that will welcome us this night!

Time to explore and relax

It's time to explore another part of Indonesia: the underwater one. The island of Menjangan, an authentic paradise on earth , is in fact known above all for its seabed and the life that hides under all that water. The word "Menjangan", in reality, derives from the Javanese language and means deer - well yes, in addition to a multitude of colorful fish in these parts we will also be able to spot the wild deer that populate the island and, sometimes, peep out on the beach . It's all about having patience, and we certainly don't lack it: after spending the day snorkeling and boat excursions, we await the sunset (and the deer) on the beach. Is there a better way to end another Indonesian day?

Lets go to Ubud!

Unfortunately it is already time to leave this little corner of paradise but the next stop is no different: today we head to Ubud , a picturesque town developed on the gentle slopes that rise towards the central mountains of the island of Bali. Surrounded by splendid tropical vegetation and typical rice terraces, Ubud is also one of the main centers of historical-artistic interest on the island: it is precisely in this area that the millenary culture of Bali developed. Before arriving in Ubud we can agree on a couple of "journey break" stops , such as the local markets along the way or the famous Jatiluwih rice fields . The choice is ours: straight ahead or journey with a stop?

In the evening we are spoiled for choice: Ubud is also the culinary capital of the island of Bali, so a special prize goes to those who identify the best traditional Balinese cuisine restaurant (group leader excluded!).

Rice fields and cooking class

Mystical, special, unique: here is the perfect description for this small Balinese town. Sideman is surrounded by rice fields and lush vegetation: a peace and atmosphere reign here that is completely different from the rest of the island and for this reason it is one of the most special and magical areas of Bali. We will visit a local house and witness the traditional weaving techniques and process, we will walk among the rice fields immersing ourselves in daily life that flows slowly and peacefully, we will observe the exotic plantations and we will discover everything about the exclusive Subak irrigation system, we will try our hand at a short course of traditional cuisine and finally we will have the opportunity to taste Jamu , a traditional herbal drink. Oh, of course, lunch is also included. Let's return to Ubud in the afternoon: maybe we'll take advantage of it for a yoga lesson , what do you think?

Lets explore Ubud

Today we are ready to explore the city: there are many temples scattered everywhere, we can start from Pura Taman Saraswati and then continue by visiting the Puri Saren Palace . We can go to the Botanical Garden or walk along the Campuhan Ridge , a pleasant walk that takes us just outside Ubud to a panoramic point from where we can admire the valley. Alternatively, we can reach the Tirta Empul temple, just outside Ubud, and take part in a purification ritual to get in touch with our deepest spirituality.

Another place that we cannot fail to visit here in Ubud is certainly the Monkey Forest : let's enter this sacred place where the monkeys are the real masters and try to make friends. Let's be careful though: monkeys are little thieves and it won't take them long to steal our glasses and hats - which we will then have to return in exchange for food! Towards the evening we go for a walk at the market , where we can find local craft products: is it time to think about souvenirs?

A resort swimming pool overlooks a sandy beach with lounge chairs and red umbrellas as the sun sets over the ocean and hills.

Lets reach a new island!

Today we leave for Lombok , an island east of Bali, a surfer's paradise. We take a ferry and as soon as we arrive we go straight to our accommodation in Mandalika Beach to put down our backpacks, so as to enjoy the afternoon free to explore the surroundings. We can already take a dip in these crystal clear waters and relax before exploring the island in the next few days. A fish-based dinner and then we recharge our batteries with a good night's sleep!

Beach time

Everyone knows the Gili Islands, which are located near Bali (the well-known Trawangan, Air and Meno) but few can say they have been to the Gili of Lombok ! These virgin islands, located south-west of Lombok, are much less frequented than all the other islands in the area so today a full immersion awaits us in these calm waters, far from the rest of the world, to relax and snorkel - mask and snorkel included!

We transfer by minivan to the Sekotong area and from here we board a fast launch to reach Gili Nanggu, Gili Kedis and Gili Tangkong . We enjoy a delicious local lunch on one of the islands and continue our exploration of underwater life: we will return to the regenerated hotels!

Discovering Lombok

Good morning WeRoaders! We are already on our tenth day of travel, so there is a bit of freedom: today the day is completely at our disposal! We can relax in the hotel, bask on one of the many nearby beaches or discover the culture and traditions of Lombok. An example? We can visit a traditional Sasak village , renowned for their handmade terracotta and ceramics, and then continue to the southern area, where the beautiful Mawun beach awaits us. We can stop for lunch in a traditional restaurant and then head towards the famous Tanjung Aan beach , long and heavenly, ideal for taking a dip, relaxing and watching the surfers challenge the waves! What do you think? Not bad huh?

Lets go back to Bali

Today we return to the starting point: a transfer, a ferry and another transfer await us, so let's make ourselves comfortable and show off our best travel playlist! We arrive in Canggu in the afternoon and prepare for the evening: a last dinner all together to toast our adventure and off we go, we launch into the Balinese nightlife, ready to enjoy these last hours in pure WeRoad style, to the fullest!

Check out and goodbye

Bye bye Bali, it's time to say goodbye - and say goodbye. We'll see you very soon on the streets of the world!
