Itinerary
Mexico is a country of contrasts, colours and extraordinary landscapes, and this trip is designed to show you more than the stereotypes. From colonial cities to mangrove jungles and crystal-clear waters, we’ll explore the many sides of this vibrant destination.
Together, we’ll discover Playa del Carmen and its golden beaches and snorkel among the Caribbean’s coral reefs in Tulum, in places that feel almost unreal, where nature and history blend seamlessly. Our journey runs through the heart of Mayan civilisation, between ancient pyramids and hidden temples, before ending in Cancún, a modern city known for its beaches, energy and nightlife.

Welcome to Mexico
1 night: Cancun
Check-in: the adventure begins in Cancun!
Roundtrip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.
Upon arrival, check in to your hotel in Cancun and get ready to discover the city's vibrant nightlife.
Kick-off celebration: we start the tour with delicious tacos, guacamole and, of course, tequila.
Cheers to the start of an unforgettable journey!

Rio Lagartos, Las Coloradas and Ek Balam
1 night: Valladolid
Everything turns pink!
We're kicking off our Mexican adventure in style!
Boat tour in Rio Lagartos: first stop, the Rio Lagartos Biosphere Reserve, literally paradise on earth. On a boat tour on the river we will be able to observe birds, flamingos, crocodiles and more.
The pink waters of Las Coloradas: next, we will have the opportunity to see Las Coloradas, an incredible area of the reserve where the lagoon and salt marshes turn pink, thanks to tiny crustaceans that release a substance into the water.
Get your cameras ready: even the least Instagrammers among us won't be able to resist this magical sight!
Ek Balam, the black jaguar
After a satisfying lunch we hit the road, with the option of a pit stop at a cenote, then an optional visit to a Mayan city.
Fancy a cenote? Cenotes are magnificent caves where natural freshwater pools form: the perfect escape from the scorching midday heat.
On to Ek Balam? Once temperatures are more bearable, we can continue to the ancient Mayan city of Ek Balam, whose name means "black jaguar": a powerful city with incredible paintings, vaults and complex murals.
Up the Acropolis: we climb the main Acropolis, 32 meters high, for a breathtaking view of the whole archaeological site!
Rather skip it? If we wish, we can head straight to Valladolid.
Let's discover Valladolid
As evening approaches, we reach Valladolid for a stroll through its charming town center.
Francisco Canton square: we start at the colonial square, with a magical atmosphere reminiscent of a Zorro film.
Churches and convents: the impressive San Gervasio Cathedral, the vibrant San Bernardino de Siena Convent with its colorful murals, and the Iglesia de Candelaria.
A dip in the cenotes: to beat the heat, a refreshing dip in the Xkeken and Samula cenotes, known for their beauty and popular among photographers.

Chichén Itzá - one of the Seven Wonders of the World
1 night: Mérida
Inside a Mayan masterpiece
This morning we explore Chichén Itzá, one of the world's most magnificent and well-preserved archaeological sites: a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It has endured violent conflicts throughout history and remains an exceptional example of Mayan architecture.
In the Pelota Fields: here we can imagine ourselves playing in one of the largest Pelota Fields in all of Yucatan, where the Maya practiced a sport similar to football.
Cenote Santa Barbara
After this dive into history, we head to Cenote Santa Barbara, with its freshwater pools nestled in caves.
Lunch on the way: we stop for lunch before reaching the cenote.
At the cenote: a truly enchanting experience in close communion with nature, and we take our time before retracing our steps back to our van.
On to Mérida: tonight's destination is the vibrant city of Mérida.

Mérida, ruins or beach
1 night: Mérida
Merida and mezcal
This morning we explore the vibrant city of Mérida. How shall we spend the day?
Into history? History enthusiasts have the option to visit the ruins of Kinich Kak Moo, where we can climb the pyramid for a panoramic view.
Craving beach vibes? Alternatively, we can choose Playa de Progreso, a stunning beach with turquoise waters.
A toast with Mezcal: in the evening Mérida comes alive with bustling stalls and music, the perfect time to raise a toast with traditional Mezcal!

Archaeology, crafts and spirituality
1 night: Campeche
Uxmal, city of legends
Today we visit Uxmal, a very impressive archaeological site that exudes an aura of mystery. Its name means "city built three times".
Temple of the Soothsayer: legend has it that if we clap our hands at its steep staircase, we may hear the sacred Quetzal bird chirping. The temple also holds the story of a king with prophetic abilities.
The masks of Chaac: we encounter the fascinating masks of Chaac, the rain god.
Charming iguanas keep us company all along the way!
On to Campeche
In the afternoon we can choose how to dive deeper into Mexican culture. The options are many:
Chocolate or sombreros? The Chocolate Museum in Uxmal, or the art of making the sombrero, one of the symbols of Mexican culture.
A stop at Pomuch Cemetery? It may seem ominous, but a culture also expresses itself through its funeral rituals, and this stop could reveal something really interesting.
More archaeology or a Temazcal? If we still want archaeological sites, we can stop at the Edzna site; for a true spiritual experience, we can also arrange a Temazcal, a type of ceremonial sauna typical of pre-Hispanic indigenous peoples.
After our activity, we head to Campeche, where we spend the night.

Calakmul, ruins in the jungle
1 night: Bacalar or Chetumal
Into the jungle
Early start today! A 4-hour journey takes us to the Xpujil area, in the heart of Yucatan.
Exploring Calakmul: a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over a thousand structures, immersed in the lush greenery of Central America.
Up the stone giants: two remarkable stone giants over 50 meters tall, and climbing their stairs rewards us with a breathtaking view of the surrounding jungle.
On to Bacalar: a long minivan transfer to Bacalar, and depending on arrival time, we might be able to dive straight in with a boat trip across the lagoon.
The next two nights are in Bacalar or nearby Chetumal: our Group Leader will reveal the final destination. Time to slow down and enjoy the remaining days in Mexico.

The Bacalar Lagoon
1 night: Bacalar or Chetumal
Seven shades of blue
Time to discover a breathtaking lake the Mayans called the "seven-coloured lagoon": the water resembles the Caribbean, with an incredible array of shades of blue. Can we accurately identify all seven colours with their Pantone numbers?
Boat trip on the lagoon: we enjoy this paradise on a boat trip.
Sunset and night: a spectacular sunset, then the night in Bacalar or Chetumal.
If we're staying in Chetumal, return transfers to the lagoon are provided. Chetumal, the capital of Quintana Roo and just 40 km from Bacalar, is calm, safe and authentic, far from mass tourism and perfect for groups seeking genuine experiences.

Tulum
1 night: Playa del Carmen
Sun and sea
A great classic not to be missed, just three hours from Bacalar: Tulum!
Fancy the archaeological site? This morning we can choose to visit the Archaeological Site of Tulum: Templo de las Pinturas, El Castillo (the great pyramid, strategically positioned), Templo del Dios del Viento, El Palacio, Templo de la Estela and Templo del Dios Descendente.
Beach time: lunch and early afternoon are for relaxing. Swimsuits on, into the waves!
Its fortress, white sand beach and crystalline waters make Tulum one of the most iconic destinations in all of Mexico.
Bye bye Tulum!
In the late afternoon we gather our things and hop back on our minivan to the city that welcomes us tonight: the very famous Playa del Carmen!

Playa del Carmen and Cozumel
1 night: Playa del Carmen
Beach day
This morning we wake up in Playa del Carmen, probably after a noche loca. One of the most famous beaches in Mexico, with the Caribbean, its stunning coral reef and a vibrant atmosphere: it deserves a couple of days.
Still full of energy? If we're eager for another excursion, Cozumel could be our next stop: an island with a marine reserve protecting the coral reef and its marine life. Here we can go diving and snorkelling to get a closer look at dolphins, manatees and sea turtles.
Evening in the centre: as the sun sets, the city centre comes alive with bars, restaurants, music and discos, for another unforgettable evening!

Holbox or Isla Mujeres
2 nights: Holbox or Isla Mujeres
Island life
For our final two days in Mexico, we're soaking up the sea and heading off to paradise!
April to September, Holbox: if you're visiting between April and September, we set course for Holbox. Haven't heard of it? That's exactly why we picked it: a hidden gem, perfect for some tranquility.
October to March, Isla Mujeres: if you're traveling between October and March, we head to the more popular Isla Mujeres instead.
What to do on the island? Each day we decide together: a boat tour, snorkeling, biking or a nearby island. And if we're in Holbox from mid-May to mid-September, we can even swim with the gentle giants of the ocean, whale sharks (no cage needed!).
Either way, we steer clear of the Riviera Maya's busier spots: total relaxation, stunning beaches, great vibes and gorgeous waters.

Last night in Cancun
1 night: Cancun
Return to Cancun
On our last day we say goodbye to Holbox (or Isla Mujeres, depending on the season) and head back to Cancun, with a full day to explore. We might feel a twinge of sadness, but the memories we've made will stay with us forever.
One last dive into Mayan history? We can check out the museum or visit the El Meco or El Rey archaeological sites.
Rather soak up the sun? If we're looking for beach time, we can head to popular beaches like Playa Tortugas.
Farewell evening: we can't forget delicious tacos, tortillas, cervezas and tequila to celebrate our Mexican adventure together. Let's toast and hit the dance floor!
