Itinerary

Ready to experience Norway from city streets to mountain valleys and spectacular fjords? This adventure takes us from the vibrant capital of Oslo, across the mountains to Voss, and finally to beautiful Bergen – the gateway to the fjords.

We start in Oslo, where we'll discover the Norwegian capital together, from its modern waterfront and iconic architecture to its lively neighbourhoods and Scandinavian atmosphere. Then it's time for one of the highlights of the journey: travelling by train across Norway towards Voss, surrounded by changing landscapes, mountains, lakes and valleys.

In Voss, we'll slow things down and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere of one of Norway's best-known adventure destinations before continuing by train to Bergen. Here, colourful wooden houses, historic streets and the famous harbour welcome us to the west coast.

And of course, a Norwegian adventure wouldn't be complete without getting out on the water. We'll experience an included fjord cruise from Bergen, sailing between dramatic mountains, waterfalls and narrow fjord landscapes.

Three destinations, scenic train journeys, Norwegian fjords and a new group of travel companions: this is Norway the WeRoad way.

Welcome to Oslo

Welcome to Norway! Once we've checked in, it's time to meet our new travel companions and start discovering Oslo together. We'll head into the centre and get our first taste of the Norwegian capital, walking along Karl Johans gate towards the Royal Palace and discovering the mixture of historic buildings, Scandinavian city life and modern architecture that makes Oslo unique.

From the Opera House to Oslo's Waterfront

We continue towards the waterfront and the spectacular Oslo Opera House, where we can walk onto its famous sloping rooftop and take in our first views across Oslofjord. From here, we'll explore Bjørvika, passing the Barcode skyline and MUNCH area. Depending on timing, we can continue towards Akershus Fortress and Aker Brygge before enjoying our welcome dinner together and getting to know the group.

A modern floating wooden sauna with large glass windows and a lifebuoy rests on the water near an urban shoreline.

Oslo Beyond the City Centre

Today we'll discover another side of Oslo, combining culture, neighbourhoods and nature. We can explore Aker Brygge and Tjuvholmen before heading towards Vigeland Sculpture Park, home to more than 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. The day is deliberately flexible, giving us the freedom to experience Oslo according to the group's interests rather than rushing through a fixed checklist.

Choose Your Oslo

The afternoon is ours to personalise. Art lovers can visit the MUNCH Museum or National Museum, while those interested in Norwegian exploration can discover museums such as Fram. Or we can simply explore Oslo's cafés, waterfront and neighbourhoods. And there's another very Nordic option: a floating sauna by Oslofjord, followed by a cold-water plunge for anyone brave enough!

A passenger train traveling along railway tracks on a steep, lush green forested mountain slope.

WOW: Crossing Norway by Railway

Today the journey itself becomes one of our experiences. We'll board the Bergen Railway and leave Oslo behind as forests and valleys gradually give way to the dramatic Norwegian highlands. From our windows we'll watch the landscape transform as the railway climbs across the mountains separating Eastern and Western Norway. Sit back, grab a window seat and enjoy one of the most scenic journeys of our adventure.

Welcome to Voss

Eventually we'll descend towards Voss, surrounded by mountains, valleys and water. After checking in, we'll explore the town and walk around Vangsvatnet lake, getting our first taste of wild Western Norway. Voss is famous for outdoor adventure, but sometimes the simple things are memorable too: fill up your bottle with Norway's excellent tap water and enjoy the mountain surroundings.

Rural houses and green farm fields along a lake with snow-capped mountains in the background.

WOW: Voss From Above

We wake up in Norway's adventure capital, surrounded by the landscapes of Western Norway. Depending on the season, weather and group interests, we can take the optional Voss Gondola to Hangurstoppen, where panoramic views open across the mountains, valleys and Vangsvatnet. Those wanting even more adventure can explore Voss's seasonal activities, ranging from hiking and rafting to winter snow experiences.

From the Mountains to Bergen

Later, we'll say goodbye to Voss and board our train towards Bergen. The journey takes us deeper into Western Norway before we arrive in a city squeezed beautifully between mountains and sea. After checking in, we'll head towards Vågen harbour and get our first look at the colourful wooden buildings of Bryggen, before enjoying Bergen's atmospheric centre together.

Colorful wooden gabled waterfront buildings stand in a row along a stone harbor quay lined with tires.

WOW: Sailing Into the Norwegian Fjords

This is the day many of us pictured when we decided to travel to Norway. We'll leave Bergen behind and head onto the water for our included fjord cruise. Steep mountains rise around us as we sail through Western Norway, passing waterfalls, small communities and deep fjord waters. Grab a place outside on deck: this is one of those moments where the photos simply don't do the landscape justice.

Bryggen & Historic Bergen

Back in Bergen, we'll explore the city's historic heart. We'll wander through UNESCO-listed Bryggen, with its colourful wooden façades and narrow passages, and discover Bergen's history as an important Hanseatic trading city. We'll continue around Vågen harbour and the Fish Market, with time to experience Bergen's maritime atmosphere and perhaps try fresh Norwegian seafood or traditional Bergen fish soup.

Bergen From Above & Our Final Night

Want one last panoramic WOW? We can take the optional Fløibanen funicular to Mount Fløyen and look down across Bergen, the harbour, mountains and waterways leading towards the fjords we've just explored. Tonight is our final evening together, so we'll head back into Bergen for dinner, drinks and one last night celebrating everything we've experienced across Norway.

A boat leaves a waterfront harbor lined with historic buildings and green hills under a clear blue sky.

Goodbye Norway!

One last Norwegian morning! Depending on our departure times, we can return to Bryggen, wander through Bergen's wooden streets, visit a museum, walk around the harbour or simply find a cosy café for one final coffee together. In six days we've experienced three completely different sides of Norway: modern Oslo, adventurous Voss and historic, fjord-side Bergen.
