Itinerary

Ready for a trip packed with fresh snow, adrenaline, and epic après-ski? We’re off to discover one of the most iconic ski areas in the French Alps: Alpe d’Huez. Perfectly placed near the lively city of Grenoble—where mountain energy meets culture and great food—this winter playground offers 250 km of immaculate slopes, soaring to 3,300 meters, plus the legendary Sarenne: Europe’s longest black run at a jaw-dropping 16 km.

Whether we’re seasoned riders or just starting out, there’s terrain here for everyone. And we’re right in the heart of the Isère ski region—so if the group’s feeling adventurous, we can explore even further. Les Deux Alpes tempts with its glacier and wild freeride opportunities, while Chamrousse offers another taste of Alpine magic.

Skiing, snowboarding, raclette feasts, snow parties, new friendships, and maybe even a nighttime run—the French Alps are calling. See you on the slopes!

Check in

This trip begins in Lyon LYS before 4:00 PM; once we are all gathered there, we pick up the rental cars together and head toward Grenoble. After about an hour and a half on the road, we arrive directly at our hotel, where we check in and have our welcome meeting. It’s the perfect moment to break the ice (not the one on the slopes—that can wait!) and start getting into the spirit of the trip.

Afterwards, we head out to explore Grenoble, a vibrant university city framed by Alpine peaks. Between charming historic streets, stylish cafés, and sweeping mountain views, it’s easy to fall into its lively rhythm. We might toast our first evening with an aperitif, share a bubbling raclette, or sample a local craft beer in one of the city’s cozy spots. Consider it the warm-up - both for our engines and our hearts - before the days of snow, downhill thrills, and après-ski that lie ahead.

A row of red Coca-Cola branded deck chairs sit empty in the snow, facing a mountain range under a blue sky.

Adrenaline on the snow

Good morning, skiers and snowboarders - ready for action? Four days of snow, adrenaline, and laughter await in the heart of the French Alps. Alpe d’Huez is our playground, with 250 km of slopes to explore: from high-speed descents for seasoned riders—including the legendary Sarenne, a 16 km black run—to gentler pistes for cruising, snapping photos, or pausing for a warming vin chaud.

No gear? No problem - everything’s available to rent on site. And once the lifts stop, the fun shifts gears: après-ski parties, live music, ice skating, and hearty Alpine dinners with friends. Our base in Grenoble keeps the evenings lively, with its mix of bistros, local bars, and stunning mountain backdrops. Feeling adventurous? We can mix things up with day trips to other nearby resorts, like Les Deux Alpes or Chamrousse.

Skis or board strapped in—it’s time to ride.

Check out and goodbyes

Our express ski week has come to an end! You can choose to set off in the morning, or take advantage of the fresh mountain air to stay a few more hours in the charming French city of Grenoble. We look forward to the next WeRoad adventure!
