Argentina and Brazil: Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls from Both Sides & Rio

Itinerary
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure across two nations brimming with life, culture, and passion. In just 9 days, we’ll journey through Argentina and Brazil - from the lively streets of Buenos Aires, with its historic quarters and soulful tango nights, to the awe-inspiring Iguazú Falls, finishing in the vibrant heart of Rio de Janeiro, the “marvellous city.”
Our journey begins in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, where we’ll wander through charming districts such as Palermo and San Telmo, soaking up the city’s authentic atmosphere. And in the evening? A magical night at a milonga, dancing tango among the locals as the music sweeps us away.
The thundering Iguazú Falls will leave us speechless with their sheer power and beauty. We’ll explore both the Argentine and Brazilian sides, admiring the cascades from different perspectives.
From there, we cross into Brazil, where Rio de Janeiro will dazzle us with its energy: from the iconic Christ the Redeemer watching over the city, to Sugarloaf Mountain, the Sambadrome, and the golden sands of Ipanema and Copacabana. We'll take a capoeira and samba class on Copacabana beach as well as explore the Rocinha favela, were we'll connect with a local community supporting social inclusion and cultural engagement.
After a trip like this, we’ll return home knowing we’ve been truly captivated by South America - and we’ll already be dreaming of coming back!

Welcome to Argentina!
Check-in: Our adventure begins in Buenos Aires!
Flights to and from the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide when and where you want to depart! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travels to your needs.
Welcome to Buenos Aires, often called the Paris of South America! Upon landing in the Argentine capital, we’ll dive straight into the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Welcome meeting: after checking in at our hotel, we gather for the welcome meeting and raise a glass to the beginning of this unforgettable adventure: click here to see how it works!
First group dinner: perhaps at a traditional parrilla, where the legendary Argentine asado is more than just a meal: it’s a social ritual that celebrates Argentine culture. Between mouthfuls, we’ll hear stories about a city that moves to the rhythm of the tango, a passionate dance born in its oldest neighbourhoods.
This is only the beginning!

Discovering Buenos Aires
Exploring Recoleta, Retiro & Palermo
Today we set out to discover two of Buenos Aires’ most iconic neighbourhoods, Recoleta and Retiro, before heading to Palermo in the afternoon.
Guided walking tour: elegant European-style boulevards, grand avenues and stories of the city’s past, with a stop at the Recoleta Cemetery, resting place of Evita Perón, whose monumental tombs resemble miniature architectural masterpieces.
Empanada and mate: we pause for a typical empanada snack, then our guide introduces us to the ritual of mate ("ma-teh"): what it means to Argentines, how it’s prepared and how best to savour it.
Murals in Palermo: the city’s trendiest district, with leafy avenues, fashionable cafés, creative boutiques and streets adorned with vivid murals by local and international artists.
Tango at a milonga? The evening is free, but we recommend a milonga: whether you take to the dance floor or simply soak up the atmosphere, tango and live music are a way of life in Buenos Aires.

San Telmo and La Boca: the beating heart of Buenos Aires
The Soul of San Telmo & the Colours of La Boca
Today we explore two of the most emblematic neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires: San Telmo and La Boca.
Morning in San Telmo: a bohemian quarter of cobblestone streets, antique markets and historic cafés, where past and present intertwine. Along the way we stop for a perfectly baked empanada, crisp on the outside and juicy within.
The colours of La Boca: next is La Boca, where Caminito welcomes us with its colourful houses and the rhythm of tango in the air. This is the cradle of tango, and an impromptu dance may tempt us as we pass by.
Football fans? No visit would be complete without a stop at La Bombonera, the legendary home of Boca Juniors, one of the most celebrated clubs in the world.
Street food stop: a sizzling choripán or a hearty milanesa a la napolitana from a local food stall, flavours that tell the story of the fusion between European and Latin American traditions.

From Buenos Aires to Iguazu Falls
The Brazilian side of Iguazu National Park
It’s an early start today! After one last Argentine breakfast, we set off for the airport.
Flight to Iguazú: next stop, the spectacular Iguazú Falls. On arrival, a private transfer takes us across the border into Brazil and straight to our hotel.
The Brazilian side: once settled, we set off on a guided tour of the Brazilian side of Iguazú National Park, where the trails reveal thundering waterfalls, shimmering rainbows and panoramic views.
Tomorrow promises even more time to marvel at the falls.

The Argentine side of Iguazu National Park
Strong emotions? Guaranteed!
Today one of the most anticipated moments of the trip awaits us: the Iguazu Falls, seen from the Argentine side.
To the Devil’s Throat: walking along the forest trails, the roar of the water gets closer and closer, until we reach the Devil's Throat, an immense wall of water shrouded in clouds of steam.
Even more adrenaline? If you’re up for it, there’s the option of a boat tour directly beneath the falls, right into the spray, as a giant shower envelops you from head to toe.
More of a hiker? Those who prefer can continue trekking, discovering new corners of this natural masterpiece.
The day ends with a return to the hotel: tomorrow Rio awaits us.

Arrival in Rio de Janeiro & the Spirit of Rocinha
Arrival in Rio de Janeiro: Capoeira, Samba & Capirinha
We depart early in the morning on a flight from Iguazú Falls to Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel for check-in and some well-deserved time to relax.
Capoeira and samba on the beach: in the afternoon, at Copacabana Beach, an introduction to capoeira and samba, an acrobatic performance and some fun ice-breaking games. The school we partner with promotes the social inclusion of children and young people from the Rocinha community by providing cultural and artistic development opportunities and strengthening family ties.
Beachside aperitif: a fruit caipirinha with traditional Brazilian petiscos.
Beach volleyball at sunset? Those with energy to spare can join a game, just like the locals.
We then get ready for our first evening in Rio.

Discovering Rio: from the Cristo Redentore to Pão de Açúcar
Icons of Rio de Janeiro
Today we can join an optional tour with a local guide to uncover the most iconic landmarks and neighbourhoods of Rio de Janeiro.
Cathedral and Escadaria Selarón: we can start at the striking Rio Cathedral, a modern building that contrasts with the city’s colonial past, then wander up the colourful Escadaria Selarón, its mosaic tiles a symbol of Rio’s artistic spirit. Perhaps we’ll even add our own touch to the mural!
Inside the Sambadrome: we can step inside the legendary Sambadrome, where the energy of carnival lives all year round and the parades transform the city each February.
Up to Christ the Redeemer: we can ascend to Christ the Redeemer, the city’s greatest icon and one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, with sweeping views over the city and time for selfies and group shots.
Sugarloaf Sunset & Carioca Nightlife
In the afternoon, we continue our discovery of Rio with another of its icons.
Cable car up Sugarloaf: the Bondinho cable car can take us up the majestic Sugarloaf Mountain. From the summit, a 360° panorama unfolds: Copacabana’s golden sands on one side, the city’s historic centre on the other, and the ocean beyond.
Sunset at the top: we stay until sunset, as the sky turns pink, purple and orange.
Carioca nightlife: as night falls, we head into the heart of Carioca nightlife, between lively bars, buzzing clubs and music.

Last day in Rio: relax in Copacabana or Ipanema? Or Take a Favela Tour!
Beaches of Rio & Farewell Celebration
On our last day in Rio, there’s the chance to see another side of the city.
Fancy a visit to Rocinha? Today you have the option to visit Rocinha, the largest favela in Rio de Janeiro, and experience the vitality of a community that, despite its challenges, has developed a strong sense of identity, expressed through music, street art and an atmosphere of genuine warmth.
This is Rio beyond the postcards, where resilience and creativity thrive: a city of contrasts, colours and energy, where joy and everyday reality intertwine, not only beaches and samba.

I have travelled with a few tour operators but nothing compares to the We Road experience and this is down to a few factors. The concept of group travel guided with a leader/trip coordinator, the compact/action packed trip and of course the amazing list of countries that We Road covers! I am just back from the Argentina, Iguazu falls and Brazil experience and would highly rexcomend this! Thank you to our amazing group leader, Yaser, coordinating such an amazing trip. A true expert in coordination, problem solving on the spot, flexing to the groups desires, making things happen (Paraguay), amongst many other things. Yaser truly catered to the group and made everyone feel comfortable. He kept spirits high throughout, through his positive personality, and kept us informed and on time to fit everything in on this action-packed adventure. We are truly a lucky group to have had Yaser guiding us throughout, in unknown countries and cultures that we passed through. Highly reccomend We Road and if you can't decide on which trip, this one was a top experience!!!

I was on my first WeRoad and it's hard to imagine it any better! Splendid group, Travel Coordinator perfect in timing and manner, an unforgettable holiday! The only downside was the Accommodation not being very satisfactory, especially the one in Rio, quite disastrous!
