Itinerary

Ready for the wild heart of Costa Rica? Here nature isn’t a backdrop, it’s everywhere: rainforests, volcanoes and Pacific beaches, all connected by that unmistakable pura vida vibe. We start in San José, getting to know the group, then head into the countryside where coffee and cacao are part of everyday life: at a local farm we go from harvest to tasting.

Next is Arenal, where the iconic volcano watches over jungle trails and natural hot springs. We then climb into the cloud forests of Monteverde, one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, with hanging bridges and waterfalls. Finally we trade mountains for the Pacific: in Manuel Antonio it’s sunset sails, wildlife encounters and time on the beach. We won’t spoil everything, but if you want adventure, nature and unforgettable moments, this might be the one.

Check-in: our adventure starts in San José

Roundtrip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.

Check-in at the hotel in San José, then out we go. Hungry yet?

  • Evening in Escalante: we discover the lively neighbourhood of Escalante, packed with bars and restaurants.

  • Our first casado: the perfect opportunity to taste our first casado: rice, beans, salad, fried plantain and meat or fish.

Sips, Bites & Jungle Sights

We leave the city as the scenery turns into rolling green hills and dense jungle on the way to Arenal, one of Costa Rica’s most iconic regions.

  • From harvest to cup: at a local farm we follow coffee and cacao from harvest to cup, among freshly prepared chocolate infused with local spices and the aroma of roasted beans.

  • Our own mocha: we craft it with ingredients grown right where we stand. Not a bad caffeine fix, right?

  • Cooking class: then into the kitchen to prepare traditional Costa Rican dishes, making our own “gallos” in a laid-back setting.

A warm introduction to the culture before heading deeper into the rainforest.

A large volcano stands behind a dense tropical jungle with palm trees and red flowers under a blue, cloudy sky.

Trails, Views & Thermal Dips

Time for Arenal’s wild side!

  • Trails at the foot of the volcano: we start by wandering trails at the foot of the volcano, through dense tropical forest with iconic views. Eyes peeled: this is prime wildlife territory, and you never know what might be hiding in the trees.

  • A soak in the hot springs: in the afternoon we slip into naturally heated hot springs tucked deep in the jungle: a well-earned soak after the hike.

A tall, narrow waterfall cascades down a cliff in the center of a dense, green rainforest, viewed through an opening in the trees.

Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve

We climb into the misty mountains of Monteverde, where the air cools and the clouds roll in. This is one of the most biodiverse cloud forests on the planet, and we feel it the moment we arrive.

  • Into the Santa Elena Cloud Forest: in the afternoon a local guide leads us through the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve: towering trees vanishing into the mist, vibrant birdlife and curious creatures.

Cool air, drifting clouds and nature at its most magical. Monteverde is something else!

Small waves roll onto a sandy beach where people swim near large rock formations and a lush green hill under a blue sky.

Ocean Bliss

We leave the misty mountains of Monteverde and descend towards the Pacific coast: layers off, sunscreen on. Clouds out, palm trees in, and suddenly everything feels like tropical holiday mode.

  • By catamaran along the coast: in the afternoon we board a catamaran and cruise the coastline, relaxing and maybe spotting some marine life.

  • Sunset at sea: then the sunset puts on a show: golden skies and soft pinks.

Camera roll full, mood very good!

An aerial view of a tropical peninsula covered in dense forest, featuring a curved sandy beach and turquoise ocean water.

Surf, Kayak… or Just Chill

Today is ours to make the most of: why not dive straight in? There are plenty of ways to spend it:

  • Manuel Antonio National Park? A visit is always a good idea: we can hike jungle trails, spot wildlife, stumble upon hidden beaches and (very likely) be watched by a monkey or two.

  • Feeling adventurous? If so, we can level things up with optional activities like surfing or rafting, beyond the postcard views.

  • Just the beach? And if all that sounds like too much effort, the beach is right there: soft sand, warm water and no pressure at all.

Active, relaxed or in between: it’s our day, our pace.
