Itinerary

Suspended between past and present, Edinburgh is a city that amazes in every season. Ancient and modern, elegant and gothic, mysterious and welcoming: a perfect mix for an unconventional weekend.

On this 3-day, 2-night trip, we'll wander through the cobbled streets of the Old Town, climb up to the majestic Edinburgh Castle, stroll through scenic hills, and dive into Scottish culture with whisky, legends, and gothic novel vibes. We'll discover the city hidden in its alleys and underground passages, get lost among dusty bookstores and independent shops, and warm up with a pint in one of its historic stone pubs.

It'll be a short but packed city break, designed for those who want to experience a European capital with soul and character - whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or just a fan of a good Scottish pub, you'll find your corner of Scotland here. With your backpack on and curious eyes, Edinburgh awaits to tell us its stories... whispered by the wind among the spires.

Between ancient stones and first toasts

We touch down in the Scottish capital and, before we know it, we’re in the heart of the city. One look at the sharp rooftops of Old Town is enough to set the tone: this won’t be a standard weekend away. We let the city lead the way — the distant hum of bagpipes, voices drifting through narrow closes, footsteps echoing along the Royal Mile.

We make our way up to Edinburgh Castle, perched on a hill, suspended between a brooding grey sky and the darker edge of Scotland’s character. From there, we head back down through cobbled streets, wandering past shopfronts, historic pubs and viewpoints that feel straight out of a gothic novel — without trying too hard to be one.

In the evening, we come together for a proper welcome: dinner in one of the city’s most iconic pubs. Classic local dishes, the first shared laughs, and the start of a trip that may be short, but is set to pack a punch.

Scotland tells us its stories

After an early breakfast, we set out to properly explore the historic heart of the city. Edinburgh Castle takes centre stage, with a past shaped by battles, crown jewels and stories of queens, prisoners and power.

Leaving the castle behind, we follow the Royal Mile back through independent bookshops, tweed stores, inviting cafés and quietly photogenic corners.

As evening draws in, we meet outside the entrance to a place many visitors never see: The Real Mary King’s Close. It’s time to head underground, into a maze of hidden streets and sealed passageways steeped in legend - from ghost stories to accounts of the plague. Beneath the city, time feels suspended, and some say not everything down here ever moved on. The atmosphere is gripping, immersive and, undeniably, a little unsettling.

Afterwards, we slow things down with a whisky in a historic bar - well earned after a day like this.

Check-out and farewell

It’s the final day, but the city still has a few surprises left. We start with a relaxed breakfast before heading up to Calton Hill, one of Edinburgh’s most impressive viewpoints. From here, the city opens up in full: the castle standing proudly above it all, the elegant lines of New Town, and rolling green hills stretching into the distance.

There’s time to explore at your own pace before the afternoon brings our goodbyes. We leave with shared laughs, memorable views and stories to take home - and a sense that Scotland doesn’t need embellishment to make an impression.
