Itinerary

Five days in the Out Islands of the Bahamas: a private boat to the swimming pigs, Thunderball Grotto and the nurse sharks of Compass Cay, plus Stocking Island, the Tropic of Cancer and sandbars that appear only at low tide.

The Exumas are 365 cays scattered on a sea that goes through every possible shade of blue, and almost no group trip goes there. We will stay on Great Exuma, the main island, in the relaxed little town of George Town, and use it as a base to explore. One day on a private boat just for us will take us to the stars of the archipelago: the famous swimming pigs of Big Major Cay, the cave of Thunderball Grotto where James Bond swam, the friendly nurse sharks of Compass Cay, the iguanas of the cays and a sandbar in the middle of the sea.

The other days we will live like locals: a boat across the harbor to Stocking Island, with its beach bar famous for stingrays and Sunday pig roasts, a hike to the wild Atlantic side, and a road trip south to Little Exuma and the Tropic of Cancer Beach, often voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Five days of turquoise water, fresh conch salad and absolutely no rush, with evenings at the local fish fry under the palms. Welcome to the Out Islands!
