Itinerary
The list of wonders on this legendary West Coast tour is not a short one! We start from the City of Angels, Los Angeles, and head into the unspoiled wilderness: the Grand Canyon, the iconic Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, the world-famous Zion National Park and the majestic Death Valley. And of course, the city of sin, Las Vegas!
Cars are our faithful travel companions in the purest On The Road USA spirit: we drive part of the iconic Route 66 to Flagstaff, dive our gaze into the majestic Grand Canyon, where everything seems still and silent but even in the scorching sun there are life forms adapted to these temperatures, explore the secrets of Monument Valley and the Navajo tribe on a guided jeep excursion, then get lost in the red rock walls of Antelope Canyon. After a night of madness in Las Vegas and a stop in Death Valley, we return to modern Los Angeles in the best way possible: surfing the waves in Venice Beach and waiting for the sunset on the Santa Monica Pier.

Welcome to the USA!
Check-in: our adventure starts in Los Angeles
Roundtrip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.

Hotel check-in in Los Angeles and welcome meeting. Beverly Hills will have to wait a little longer.
First dinner as a group: tonight we get together for our first dinner (hamburgers or hot dogs?!).
Tomorrow we leave for Palm Springs: what better place to start getting to know each other?

On the road to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park
We're on the road baby!
Good morning WeRoaders, our on-the-road is about to begin! After breakfast, we head to the car rental and can finally sit in our cars. The drive is not long, and it's up to us to decide how many stops to make and which ones: a true on-the-road is above all freedom.
Joshua Tree National Park: in Palm Springs we leave our backpacks at the hotel and head straight to Joshua Tree National Park, in southeastern California: striking desert landscapes, iconic Joshua trees and a wide variety of natural wonders.
Photos in the Coachella Valley: we're in the Coachella Valley, home to the world-famous festival, with perfect spots for a photo op in full Coachella Style (watch out for the outfit!).

The iconic Route 66
From Palm Springs to Flagstaff
Today the road is the real star… and what a road! Does the name Route 66 ring a bell? We'd better get an early start: there are many miles to cover.
Time travel in Oatman: from Palm Springs we head to Oatman, Arizona, between 3 and 4 hours away: a tiny town between the Black Mountains, towering over the Mojave Desert. Just over half a century ago it was a strategic base for miners and prospectors, and among donkeys, miners and cowboys it feels like a movie.
Down Route 66: then we drive down the iconic Route 66 to Flagstaff.
A stop in Seligman or Hackberry? On the way we can stop in Seligman, birthplace of historic Route 66 and full of drive-ins, or at the Hackberry General Store, a gas station turned museum store, themed 66 of course.
And if you haven't seen "Cars", now is the time!

A wonder of the natural world: the Grand Canyon
Just... wow!
Right after breakfast we visit the Grand Canyon, one of the most famous parks in the United States, second perhaps only to Yellowstone. The first emotion? Pure awe: the vastness of the canyon, its immense depth and the towering multicoloured cliffs make us feel tiny in the face of nature's grandeur.
From Mather Point to Powell Point: we start at Mather Point and move on to Powell Point, a rock peninsula from which we can observe the major and minor rapids and hear the roar of the water below us.
Down into the canyon? We have plenty of time and plenty of trails to explore: we can go deeper into the canyon, but remember, getting back up is quite a climb!

Another iconic spot: Monument Valley
Navajo spirit and culture
Another day, another park! Today we journey into the iconic landscapes of Monument Valley, one of the most sacred places of the Navajo Nation: more than just a geological wonder, it holds deep spiritual significance for the Navajo people and plays an important role in their creation story.
At our own pace: surrounded by towering sandstone buttes and mesas, we take in the views, enjoy a short hike or simply soak up the atmosphere.
On to Page: after our visit we continue to Page for the night, ready for another unique natural wonder: Antelope Canyon.

Into the Antelope Canyon
Are we in an Apple screensaver?
Today we can't miss Antelope Canyon, where the sun's rays shine through the walls of a world-famous slot canyon. Over millions of years, flash floods and wind, with running water laden with sand and debris, carved narrow, winding passages in the Navajo sandstone.
Through the slot canyon: beautiful narrow passages and a play of light and shadow on smooth, carved sandstone walls: a photographer's paradise. You've charged your camera battery, haven't you?
Two nights in Bryce Canyon: in the late afternoon we move on to Bryce Canyon, where we stay for a full two nights: time for some laundry maybe?

Hoodoos everywhere: the Bryce Canyon
Hoodoo hunting
Bryce is not really a canyon, more a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheatres. We visit the largest, the Bryce Amphitheater, in the heart of the area, with hoodoos everywhere we look: deep grooves created by the erosion of water, wind and ice in the rock.
Hike to the valley floor? We will have a chance to take one of the trails that lead us down to the bottom of the valley, through an almost fairy-like landscape.
Legend has it that the hoodoos are an ancient Legendary People, turned to stone by the Coyotes as punishment for evil deeds: if a rock moves, don't worry, it's just a bunch of ghosts!

Zion National Park and Las Vegas
Another park... maybe the last one?
Our destination today is the famous Zion National Park: cliffs plunging some 3.000 feet, distinctive bright red and white colors, carved rocks flanking hanging valleys and small waterfalls cascading down the high walls. Hands on your cameras!
Choosing our trek: there are trekking routes for all tastes, so we decide together which one to take.
Up to Angels Landing? One of the most famous leads to the breathtaking view from Angels Landing: a bit of a struggle, but the whole valley opens up in a 360-degree perspective on the park.
The sin city
In Las Vegas, when darkness comes, everything lights up: an unparalleled show! You can't be in the city of sin without a crazy night.
A limo ride? We get all dolled up and consider renting a limo (quite common around here!).
Picking the club: then we decide which of the many clubs to celebrate in.

The last park: Death Valley
Furnace Creek
After a crazy night, we head from Las Vegas to the lowest and hottest point in North America: Death Valley, with sand, salt flats, hills, canyons and jagged rock formations. The story goes that in 1849 a group of prospectors died crossing it, looking for a shortcut to the central valleys of California.
Furnace Creek and the viewpoints: the tour starts at Furnace Creek, the main center of the valley, then on to Zabriskie Point and Dante's View, located at 1,800 feet.
Down to Badwater Basin: next come Artist Drive and Artist's Palette, all the way to Badwater Basin, the salt lake decreed the lowest point in North America.

On the road to Los Angeles
Sunrise, Griffith Observatory and the City of Angels
Early risers can wake up before the sun for an incredible sunrise in the middle of… nothingness. Written like that it sounds bad, but it's absolutely worth it!
On the road to LA: we enjoy these last moments of peace, then spend most of the day on the road to the last leg of this adventure: Los Angeles.
Stop at Griffith Observatory: from Ridgecrest it's about two and a half hours to Griffith Observatory, just outside Los Angeles: a must-stop for the view and the enveloping atmosphere of the "Golden State".
Dinner and cocktails in LA: we settle into our place in LA, have dinner in a typical restaurant and spend the evening in a bar, sampling a good cocktail.

Santa Monica and Venice Beach
The perfect ending
This morning we arrive at the Santa Monica Pier, where Route 66 ends: we drop off the cars and pick up the bikes!
On to Venice Beach: we continue to Venice Beach, with its endless white sand beaches, surfers and street performers.
Sunset happy hour: during happy hour we enjoy a nice drink along the beach, watching the sun set over the sea.
If it wasn't clear already, today is a relaxing day among the beautiful beaches of L.A., to end our American trip in the best possible way: we deserve it!
