Southwest Express: Zion, Antelope Canyon & Grand Canyon by Helicopter

Itinerary
The American Southwest is the landscape everybody has seen in a movie and almost nobody has walked into. We fix that in five days. We start in Zion, wading up the Narrows with a local guide and all the gear, and we spend the evenings in Springdale, where the canyon walls glow red right outside the door.
Then we head into Navajo land for Upper Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, and we sleep two nights on the edge of the Grand Canyon. Sunset at the rim, a helicopter flight over the canyon and a last dinner together under a sky full of stars. Two days off work, a lifetime of screensavers!

Las Vegas - Zion
1 night: 1st night: Springdale
We skip the Strip and are at the gates of Zion by sunset
Round-trip flights are not included, so you choose where and when to fly from. Check the Find your flight section for some options.
We meet in Las Vegas at lunchtime and leave the neon behind. Next stop: Utah!
Across the desert: two and a half hours of desert later we cross into Utah and roll into Springdale, the little town at the mouth of Zion Canyon.
Welcome dinner: our first dinner together, with the canyon walls turning red above us. Time to meet the group and plan tomorrow's adventure.

Zion: the Narrows
1 night: 2nd night: Springdale
The Narrows with a pro guide and full gear, not in sneakers from the rental shop
Today we walk up the Virgin River into the Narrows, where the canyon closes to a few meters and the walls rise over 300 meters. Ready to get our feet wet?
Hiking the Narrows: a local guide leads us, and we have canyoneering shoes, neoprene socks, poles and dry packs.
Plan B on the trails: if the river is too high, the guide takes us on one of Zion's classic trails instead.
Free evening in Springdale: back in town, the evening is ours: craft beer, a dip in the pool or a short walk to watch the stars come out over the canyon.

Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend
1 night: 3rd night: Grand Canyon South Rim
A Navajo-guided slot canyon and the Grand Canyon rim by sunset, in the same day
We drive to Page, in Navajo Nation. Three icons in one day: are we ready?
Into Upper Antelope Canyon: with a Navajo guide we walk into Upper Antelope Canyon, with its light beams, curved sandstone and the most photographed canyon on the planet.
To the edge of Horseshoe Bend: a short walk takes us to Horseshoe Bend, where the Colorado River makes its famous U-turn 300 meters below us.
Sunset at Desert View: we enter the Grand Canyon from the east and stop at Desert View for our first sunset over the canyon, before checking in on the South Rim.

The Grand Canyon from the sky
1 night: 4th night: Grand Canyon South Rim
We see the canyon from the rim, from the trail and from a helicopter
Rim, trail and sky: today we see the Grand Canyon from every angle!
Up for sunrise? Early risers catch sunrise at Mather Point. Then we walk a stretch of the Rim Trail and, for those who want more, a short descent on the South Kaibab Trail to Ooh Aah Point.
Helicopter over the canyon: in the afternoon a helicopter takes us over the Grand Canyon for about 45 minutes, the only way to understand how big this place really is.
Farewell dinner and stars: our last dinner together, then out to Hopi Point for a sky so dark you can see the Milky Way.
Grand Canyon - Las Vegas
1 night: Departure
Through the Mojave to the Hoover Dam
Back to Las Vegas today.
Through the Mojave to the Hoover Dam: we drive back through the Mojave Desert, with a stop at the Hoover Dam, and we're at the airport in the afternoon, in time for evening flights.
End of WeRoad services. See you on the next trip!
