Ready to discover the cultural beauty of Sri Lanka, with breathtaking landscapes, white sand beaches and crystal clear water? We start from the capital, Colombo, and travel around the island, from the eighth wonder of the world to stunning beaches: Galle, Ella, Udawalawe National Park, Nuwara Eliya and the archaeological sites of Polonnaruwa, Dambulla and Sigiriya, before soaking up the sun around Trincomalee. An unforgettable tour around the "teardrop of India", from delicious cuisine to deep, moving religious traditions. You'll want to capture every frame on Instagram, but the best memories will already be engraved in your heart.

Welcome to Sri Lanka!
1 night: Negombo
Check-in: our adventure starts in Negombo
Roundtrip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.
Check-in at the hotel in Negombo: we're close to the country's capital, the gateway to an incredible adventure.
In the evening we get to know each other better and, as per tradition, we start making friends with "feet under the table".
Sri Lankan recipes are similar to Indian cuisine, but original and delicious: on an island with a tropical climate, coconuts and fish are always on the table!

From Negombo to the southern beaches via Galle
1 night: Udawalawe
Start the journey
After breakfast at our hotel in Negombo, we head south. Ready to go?
We pass through the capital of the island, Colombo, with a short visit at the discretion of the group.
Before Galle, we can visit a renowned sanctuary for the protection of turtles: specialists monitor the hatching of the eggs and the baby turtles are looked after in special tanks.
Galle, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is a delight to explore on foot: old trading port, Dutch colonial buildings, old mosques and churches, grand palaces and museums. In the narrow streets of the old town: elegant cafes, quirky boutiques and restored hotels owned by local and foreign artists, writers, photographers and designers.
After lunch we set off for tonight's destination, Udawalawe: we'll sleep in a tent in nature!

Elephant safari and the road to Ella
1 night: Ella
Udawalawe National Park
Safari time! We're 160 km from Colombo, in one of the national parks established to preserve the country's fauna, mainly elephants.
Since 1972, the 30 hectares of nature reserve overlooking the Walawe river have been home to around 600 elephants, in herds of around 50 members each. The vegetation is not very dense (and they're not exactly small): the chances of spotting them are very good.
Look up and you'll see many species of birds: black-headed ibis, peacocks, hawks and eagles.
On the way to Ella we can stop at the Buduruwagala temple, an ancient Buddhist temple from the 10th century, carved into the rock with 7 Buddha statues.
Ella is a very small town with all services: restaurants, guesthouses, markets, tea shops, tuk-tuks. All around: mountain air, rocky peaks, groves with lakes and waterfalls, streams and rivers. Another side of Sri Lanka!

Ella: sunrise hike and Nine Arch Bridge
1 night: Ella
Sunrise on Little Adam's Peak
Today we wake up before dawn and set off for Little Adam's Peak. Why, you ask? Getting to the top is one of the most epic things you can do in Ella!
No guide needed: a marked trail gets us up the mountain just in time for sunrise. Starting from the main road in Ella, the hike shouldn't take more than 1 hour.
After sunrise, another trail takes us to the famous Nine Arch Bridge.
We finish at Ella Rock for a breathtaking view.
After all that walking, how about a nice cold beer? And food, lots of food…

Among the tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya
1 night: Nuwara Eliya
The most famous train ride in the world
Have you heard of the most spectacular train journey in the world? That's how the Nuwara Eliya–Ella route is described!
A special track climbs between the mountains and tea plantations: a two-hour journey through unique panoramas, an explosion of colours that stays in your mind forever.
In Nuwara Eliya we visit one of the most unique tea plantations in the area and taste tea straight from the artisan factories, where the leaves are processed.
Another short transfer and we reach our final destination, off the beaten track.

Towards Kandy: rafting and the Temple of the Tooth
1 night: Kandy
Did someone say rafting?!
Ready for some adventure? Surrounded by nature, we let the explosive force of the water carry us away!
An exciting and fun white water rafting experience.
We then continue towards Kandy to visit the famous Temple of the Tooth, considered one of the most sacred places in Buddhism, with some impressive Sri Lankan architecture.

Dambulla and a sunset at Pidurangala Rock
1 night: Dambulla
Towards the golden triangle
We wake up in Kandy, but right after breakfast we say goodbye to this pleasant town and head north.
First stop: Dambulla, an ancient site of 5 caves, expertly excavated and beautifully decorated, full of Buddhist statues and breathtaking green views. A must in Sri Lanka!
Watch out for the monkeys: they will try to steal everything from you, even your glasses!
We then continue to Sigiriya, or more precisely Pidurangala Rock, for a breathtaking sunset.

Sigiriya, Lion's Rock and Polonnaruwa
1 night: Dambulla
History, culture and a cooking class
We wake up in Sigiriya to see one of the most famous symbols of Sri Lanka: Lion's Rock, considered by some the eighth wonder of the world.
We take on 1200 steps, but it's worth it: the usual photo in front of the 'lion's claws', a stop at the beautiful frescoes and, at the top, a dizzying view over an infinite expanse of trees.
After lunch we head to Polonnaruwa, an archaeological complex of monuments and temples: renting bikes or tuk tuks is the best way to move between one area and another.
Later we test our culinary skills in an authentic cooking class of local specialties. Hungry, eh? Get ready for some awesome food!
We also spend this night in Sigiriya, before setting off towards the next destination.

Time to relax on the East coast
2 nights: Trincomalee
Finally, we reach the sea
After some intense travelling, 2 days of relaxation by the sea are just what we need to recharge our batteries!
Two days at your complete disposal, to enjoy however you like.
Sunbathing, surfing lessons, swimming, beach volleyball matches and anything else that crosses your mind: the important thing is to relax and enjoy these 48 hours of pure enjoyment.

Return to Negombo/Colombo via Anuradhapura
1 night: Negombo
Let's enjoy the last day
The journey is long, but the stop on the way is really worth it: Anuradhapura, the sacred city of Sri Lanka.
One of the leading civilisations of Asia and the world lived here, making the city a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's about 200 km from Colombo, the commercial capital, in the North Central Province.
Covering 40 sq km, its archaeological site is one of the largest in the world. The ruins come in 3 types: the stupas, bell-shaped brick buildings from a few meters to 340 meters in circumference; the Monasteries, with columns, platforms and foundations; the Pokuna, the tanks that supplied drinking water to the city.
Here there is also the Sri Maha Bodhi, the sacred fig tree grown from a shoot of the tree under which the Buddha was enlightened.
Back in Negombo just in time for our last dinner together, to celebrate and relive the highlights of our adventures. Our last night in Sri Lanka: let's make it unforgettable!
