Itinerary
From the Savannah to Zanzibar: a journey through the vast wild areas of East Africa, home to the so-called Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhinoceros) and many other wild animals. We start in Arusha with a walking safari in Arusha National Park, hoping to spot its cute monkeys. Then the real safari begins: Tarangire National Park, home to more than 500 species of birds, and Lake Manyara, where lions like to climb trees.
In Ngorongoro we look for black rhinos, wildebeests and zebras, then get lost in the plains of the Serengeti National Park, with pink flamingos and more. A quick stop in Karatu to meet the native Bushmen, then we fly to Zanzibar: Kendwa beach, the Indian Ocean, snorkelling, relaxation and postcard sunsets. A complete tour of the peoples, habits and customs of this land!

Hello Tanzania!
Check in: our journey starts in Arusha
Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!
Check-in at the hotel in Arusha and time to meet the rest of the group!
An evening to recover from the long flight, with a drink by the pool.
Some food together to toast to the beginning of our safari adventure!

Arusha National Park: walking among the monkeys
Monkey paradise
Let the adventure begin! We meet our guide and head to our first day of safari.
Arusha National Park is famous for its blue monkeys and is the only park in the area where we can see the beautiful Colobus monkeys.
It's also possible to do a Walking Safari: a walk through the park in close contact with the animals, escorted by the park rangers.
What better way to start our adventure than by walking in nature?

Tarangire National Park: the real safari begins
Heading north to Tarangire
We set off north to Tarangire National Park. Will we already see the famous lions?
Wildlife is at its most spectacular between June and September, in the dry period, when thousands of wildebeests, buffaloes and antelopes migrate to the river in search of water.
Lions, leopards and other predators follow the herds: that famous circle of life.
The park is home to over 500 varieties of birds, so binoculars and spotting scopes at the ready!
In the evening we move to Karatu, where we spend the night.

Lake Manyara: tree-climbing lions and Mto wa Mbu
Safari day and a bike ride
After breakfast we head to Lake Manyara National Park for a day of safari, spotting as many wild animals as we can!
The park is known for its tree-climbing lions (cool, right?!), covers 390sqkm and is a sanctuary for over 400 species of birds: pink flamingos, pelicans, storks, Ibis and Egyptian geese.
There is also a huge herd of buffalo and elephant. Will we be lucky enough to see it? Fingers crossed!
We visit Mto wa Mbu, a local village where representatives of more than 120 different tribes live together in peace.
By bicycle through streets full of the scents and colours of local craftsmanship, from paintings to wooden objects, and a stop at the local market.

Ngorongoro: a world heritage crater
Safari to the Ngorongoro Crater
New day, new safari! We descend by jeep into the crater and spend the whole day on safari.
Ngorongoro is one of the largest craters in the world: 20 km wide, 2,286 m above sea level, surrounded by very steep walls and covering 260 square km.
One of the best wildlife viewing areas, where we can even see black rhinos, if we're lucky!
Over 30,000 animals live here, almost half of them zebras and wildebeests: no coincidence it's listed as a world heritage site!

The Serengeti Plains
The endless plains
We wake up early and set off in our jeeps: in a couple of hours we reach the Serengeti National Park.
It's undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, with wildebeests, antelopes and gazelles passing through during migration.
Arguably one of the best days of the tour: hopefully we'll see some incredible animals up close!

Serengeti National Park: the land of lions
Lobo Valley
At dawn we set off again for Lobo, in the remote northern Serengeti.
The Lobo Valley is one of the natural routes of the annual wildebeest migration.
This area has one of the highest concentrations of lions in Africa, which we admire from the safety of our jeep. Don't forget your camera!
Our last day in this spectacular park: we cross it from north to south looking for the animals we missed. We have to see them all!
In the evening we return to our accommodation in Karatu.

Karatu: Local Culture
Immersion in local culture
Today we visit the natives who live on Lake Eyasi.
The Bushmen, locally known as Hadzabe or Tindiga: the Hadzapi people are an original hunter-gatherer population of East Africa.
Then the Taturu, sometimes known as Mang'ati, who still live according to their traditional customs.
In the afternoon we move to Arusha to catch our flight to the beaches of Zanzibar. Time to relax!

Zanzibar and the Indian Ocean
Markets and the first ocean sunset
Today we're armed only with flip flops and swimsuits!
During the day we can visit local markets and explore the area.
In the afternoon, beach time with the Indian Ocean in front of us.
Let's put our feet up and enjoy the first ocean view sunset of our trip!

Zanzibar: Snorkelling on Kendwa beach
Into the sea!
A free day: let's decide together how best to use our time here in Zanzibar.
Shall we just relax on Kendwa beach?
Maybe then an exciting boat tour among crystal clear waters and white beaches.
Plenty of opportunity for snorkelling enthusiasts!

Zanzibar: bays, islands and sunset cocktails
Relax and crystal clear water!
It's our last full day together in Tanzania: beach, sea and plenty of choice.
Venture into one of the many bays and islands of this African island, or stay and relax on the beach?
After the endless African savannah, the immense herds, the dawn among the acacias, the local tribes, the beaches and the crystal clear water, it's time to say goodbye to Tanzania.
But not before toasting this adventure together with cocktails at sunset!
Goodbye Tanzania!
Check-out and goodbye
See you on the next adventure with WeRoad!
