Thailand Beach Life Summer: Bangkok's Train Market, Koh Tao & Koh Samui

Itinerary
This itinerary has 2 versions
A summer and a winter one. If you are looking for the departure dates forThailand Beach Life Winter: Phuket, Krabi & the Emerald Cave Lagoon, click here!
From Bangkok to Koh Tao and Koh Samui: a trip through this Southeast Asian country, its culture, traditions and above all its beautiful islands. No wonder it's a Beach Life! We start in Bangkok, with its glittering skyscrapers and frenetic pace, from Khao San Road to Chinatown and thousands of street food stalls.
Via Surat Thani, a ferry takes us to the sea: Koh Tao for two days, then Koh Samui, with natural landscapes and Thai nightlife, said to be even wilder on the southern islands than in Bangkok. Back in the city for our last two days: the floating market, the famous Train Market crossed by train tracks, and a guided food tour.

Welcome to Thailand!
Check-in: our adventure starts in Bangkok
Roundtrip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.
Check-in at our Bangkok hotel and Welcome Meeting.
We meet in a city that symbolizes Southeast Asia: chaotic streets, traffic, honking horns and markets selling a bit of everything. The first impact is intense!
Let's start with food: the best way to get acquainted is at the table. Our guess for the first dish of this culinary journey: pad thai for everyone!

Discovering Bangkok
Temples or Ayutthaya?
We're in one of the most vivid cities of Southeast Asia, and today we decide together which side of it we want to explore.
Bangkok's temples? We can take a walk among the city's temples to Wat Pho, with its giant reclining golden Buddha, and Wat Arun, the "Temple of Dawn", across the river: we can reach it with a short boat ride.
Or a trip to Ayutthaya? If we're more into culture and spirituality, we can organise a half-day trip to Ayutthaya, and on the way we can stop at the Summer Palace of Bang Pa-In, a 17th-century blend of East and West.
Strolling among the ruins? The city destroyed by the Burmese army in 1767 is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and we can stroll among its most impressive remains: Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, with its brick and stucco reclining Buddha and bell-shaped chedi on a raised mound with steps up to the Buddhist image, and Wat Mahathat, with the Buddha head embedded in a tree trunk.
Bronze Buddha and three chedis? We may then continue to the bronze Buddha at Wat Phra Mongkhon Bophit and the Royal Monastery Wat Phra Si Sanphet, with its three iconic chedis.
The most important thing: be back in Bangkok for the overnight train or VIP bus to Surat Thani, we can't miss it!

Koh Tao: turtles island
Is this paradise?
This morning we reach Surat Thani, but there's one last stretch: we move to Koh Tao by ferry!
Snorkelling with turtles? The island is famous for turtles and snorkelling, and those who feel like it can go exploring the crystal-clear seabed. Maybe we can even see some turtles and, fingers crossed, swim with them!
Two days on the island: we have two whole days on this island paradise to unearth the most beautiful beaches and enjoy the nightlife.

Discovering Koh Tao
Deep in the sea
Waking up in Koh Tao with sunshine and the smell of the sea: what more could we want? A typical day here sounds like this:
Around the local market: for starters, we can take a stroll around the local market, where we can find everything from quirky hats to unique souvenirs.
Snorkelling and diving: then a refreshing dip at one of the breathtaking beaches, some snorkeling to discover the marine life and an underwater adventure: the diving here is crazy!
Seafood lunch: for lunch, we can indulge in fresh seafood at a seafront restaurant, lulled by the tropical breeze.
Sunset boat ride: to end the day, a boat ride at sunset, sipping cocktails and dancing to the rhythm of local drums.

Koh Samui: tropical paradise
To a new island!
Today we move to Koh Samui: after breakfast, we reach the port and board the ferry.
Crossing by ferry: we enjoy the sea on the way, and if we're really sleepy, we can take a nap lulled by the waves.
Afternoon to recharge: we settle into the facility, and in the afternoon we can rest and recharge our batteries for our first evening in Koh Samui.
We now know what to expect from Thai nightlife: ready to dance the night away on the beach?

Another two days in Koh Samui
Island hopping to Koh Tan and Koh Madsum
Two whole days at our disposal: we love it! We can plan them around the activities that interest us most, with the support and suggestions of our group leader.
Boat trip to two islands? One idea: after breakfast, we can use the morning for a boat excursion to Koh Tan and Koh Madsum, two small islands in the Mu Koh Samui archipelago surrounded by a colourful coral reef.
Diving and snorkelling? Almost deserted, with barely 50 inhabitants and accessible only by sea, they're little marine paradises where we can dive and snorkel. It's up to us!

Back to Bangkok
Off to Bangkok
Time to leave these wonderful islands: raise your hand if you're sad!
Free morning by the sea: the morning is completely free for a few more hours of sea and rest.
Ferry and flight to Bangkok: then the last ferry ride and our afternoon flight back to Bangkok via Surat Thani.

Bangkok, one last time
Last night in Bangkok
Back in the city for our last full day!
Train Market and floating market? If we feel like it, we can visit two characteristic markets: the famous Train Market, literally crossed by train tracks, and the floating market.
Tuk tuk street food tour: to close, a tuk tuk street food tour with a local guide and a final drink.
What better way to say goodbye?

Goodbye Thailand

Time to say goodbye: see you on another adventure!

My Thailand trip with WeRoad was honestly an amazing experience, especially because it was my first time traveling outside of the country. Choosing WeRoad gave me so much peace of mind because I never had to worry about what we were doing next, where we needed to be, or how we were going to get there. It made me feel much more comfortable and confident about traveling internationally, and I definitely think I made the right choice by booking with WeRoad. One of the biggest reasons the trip went so well was our guide, Ryan. Even though this was his first time leading a trip, he did an incredible job. He was organized, prepared, and always made sure we knew what was happening next. Whenever there was a question he didn’t know the answer to, he was quick to find out rather than leaving us wondering. There were a few little hiccups along the way, as you would expect with any trip, but Ryan handled them calmly and made everything feel under control. At no point did I feel unsafe, lost, or worried about what was coming next, and that really says a lot about how well he handled the trip. The itinerary was packed, but in the best way. From the train market and the Grand Palace to the 10-hour train ride and traveling between the different islands, every day felt like a new adventure. At times it definitely felt hectic, but I was always excited about what we were doing next. It felt like WeRoad had put a lot of thought into making sure we experienced as much of Thailand as possible rather than simply checking off tourist attractions. I was also pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. Going into my first international trip, I honestly expected some of the accommodations to be much worse than they were, but I was really happy with them overall. Another huge part of what made this trip special was our group. We all seemed to mesh incredibly well, and everyone was so easygoing and fun to be around. I think the group dynamic made an already great trip even better. If I have one concern about taking another WeRoad trip in the future, it would actually be wondering whether I’ll get as lucky with the group chemistry as I did this time! If I had to offer constructive feedback, I think the biggest challenge was simply how fast-paced the itinerary could feel at times. There was a lot packed into the trip, and while I personally loved having so much to experience, I could see how some travelers might want a little more downtime between activities or travel days. That said, the busy schedule was also part of what made the trip so exciting for me. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to international travel. WeRoad took away a lot of the stress and uncertainty that comes with traveling somewhere completely new and allowed me to focus on enjoying the experience, meeting people, and seeing Thailand. I’m already looking forward to my next WeRoad trip!

Incredible trip! Very very full on with long travel days and a packed itinerary, so be aware of that. We saw and did so much in 9 days that the trip flew by! Absolutely loved every moment

It was a very intense and enjoyable experience. In just a few days, it allowed me to do so many activities and discover many places and aspects of Thai culture. From the city markets, Temples, and Palaces, to the enchanting diving and excursions in the southern islands. The more demanding moments and transfers were also interspersed with moments of relaxation in the excellent facilities booked by the agency.""An absolute must-do experience

It was my first time travelling on a trip of this type and I loved it! A way to travel alone without doing it alone. Everyone in the group got along super well, the Travel Coordinator made it super easy for us… and with the security that there is an agency behind you that backs you up in case there is any problem. I will definitely do it again!

The trip to Thailand between Bangkok, Koh Tao and Koh Samui was overall interesting for the destinations visited and for the group, but the experience was strongly conditioned by the organisation of the travel, which in my opinion is the main aspect to consider before choosing this itinerary. The islands are very beautiful and absolutely worth it, especially Koh Tao for the sea and activities like snorkelling. However, the time actually spent on both was very limited: due to the long transfers, we managed to see little and to experience only a small part of what these destinations offer. Koh Samui also offers pleasant moments, while Bangkok is an interesting stop but rather sacrificed in terms of time. The critical point, however, concerns the management of the transfers. The journey from Bangkok to Koh Tao was very long (about 22 hours in total), and this effectively reduced the two days planned on the island to little more than one real day, also considering the fatigue upon arrival. The same applies to the return from Koh Samui to Bangkok: the day that was supposed to be partly free was entirely occupied by travel (from 6:45 to 17:30), with no actual time for activities or relaxation. It should also be highlighted that what was reported in the programme did not turn out to be in line with reality, especially regarding the travel: the description provided does not accurately reflect the real impact of the routes nor the amount of time actually available at the various stops. An important aspect to know is that these times are not clearly perceptible before departure, because the times and the actual duration of the travel are not indicated in the programme. This can lead to different expectations compared to what one experiences during the trip. Personally, I believe that the itinerary could be improved by optimising the transfers (for example with internal flights or faster solutions), because currently a significant part of the trip is absorbed by logistics. In our case, the total time spent travelling was about 36 hours. In summary, it is a trip that I recommend for the destinations and for the group experience, but I would suggest it above all to those who are aware of the rather intense pace and the long routes necessary to reach the islands. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a more relaxed trip or with more actual time on site, it might not be the ideal choice. I therefore advise you to inform yourself well about the travel before departure and evaluate if this type of organisation is in line with your expectations.
