Ciao everyone! My name is Valerio, and I'm from a beautiful gem in Italy called Puglia, but I've been living in Houston since 2021. I know what you're thinking: Why?! The first reason is my job. I'm a cancer scientist, and my work brought me to the US, home to some of the best cancer centers in the world. But the second, and most important, reason is my insatiable curiosity to see new places and meet people from different cultures. My dream was to come to this part of the world, and once I've explored enough, I'm sure I'll move to another continent to discover that one too. I truly believe happiness comes from the unknown, and the only way to find it is to take that first step. Besides this little philosophical paragraph, I'm a very social and friendly person, and I have my family to thank for that, as well as for the 50-person dinners at every family celebration! I'm very active, always playing or trying new sports, and I also love nature, so hiking, camping, and RV trips are often my way to go. Last but not least, I have a background as a chef, so I'm usually the one cooking for everyone. And you might wonder: How did I end up doing cancer research? A mystery of life! But remember that first step toward happiness? Well, it's more or less the same story. I feel this is going to be an amazing journey. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and I'm finally here! I'm living my dream, and I'm so happy to share this excitement with all of you!
