Itinerary
A trip to Egypt is a journey back in time to one of the world's oldest civilisations: a desert land made rich and fertile by the Nile River, where the kingdom of Ancient Egypt thrived. Our group adventure begins in Cairo, where the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx tower over the modern skyline. Heading south, we uncover ancient tombs, monuments and necropolises preserved by rock and sand, surviving wars, looting and abandonment.
In Aswan we stand in awe of the Ramses statues at Abu Simbel, while in Luxor we delve into the Karnak temple complex and the Valley of the Kings, the resting place of Egypt's rulers. Before heading back to Cairo, we enjoy 24 hours of well-deserved relaxation in the crystal-clear waters of Hurghada. We'll feel like little Indiana Joneses: this time, history isn't learned from books, it's explored firsthand!

Welcome to Egypt!
Check-in and first dinner in Cairo
Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!
Our journey begins in Cairo: it's impossible not to be captivated by this ancient city!
The first settlement here dates back to Roman times, but just a bit further south lie the ruins of Memphis, Egypt's ancient capital, founded in 3,100 BC.
Our first dinner together is the perfect chance to get to know each other, taste the local cuisine and kick off this adventure on the right foot.

The Giza Pyramids
Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos
Today begins with an undeniable symbol: Giza, the first of many UNESCO World Heritage sites on this trip and the most famous historical and archaeological site in all of Egypt.
We stand before the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos, the three most iconic Egyptian pyramids in the world.
The true star of the day? The legendary Sphinx, perhaps the most renowned attraction.
We finally see with our own eyes the colossal monuments we only knew from schoolbook photos, and take all the time we need to appreciate them.
A detour to Dashur
If time allows, we won't miss a visit to nearby Dashur, with a knowledgeable local guide unveiling the secrets of this ancient place.
A long journey on the night train
After exploring this corner of Egypt far and wide, we head to the station and board a night train across half of Egypt.
We have dinner on board, settle into our bunks and enjoy the evening together.
Who knows, maybe we'll all squeeze into one compartment for a game of cards!
By tomorrow morning we wake up in Aswan, ready for new adventures.

In the south of Egypt: we arrive in Aswan
An island in the middle of the Nile
We wake up far south of the capital: overnight, the train has taken us from Cairo to Aswan, on the Nile just beyond Lake Nasser.
During ancient Egypt, stone caravans left from here with the materials used to build the Giza Necropolis, which we visited yesterday.
After dropping off our backpacks at the hotel, we decide together how to spend the day. One idea? A transfer to Elephantine Island, in the middle of the Nile near Aswan.
Here we find noteworthy archaeological remains, including evidence that a Jewish colony may have taken refuge here to escape deportation to Babylon.

The Temple of Abu Simbel
An optional early start
This morning the alarm rings at dawn… or maybe not! The excursion to the Temple of Abu Simbel is completely optional: pillow or history? Trust us, getting up early is absolutely worth it.
Built around 3,000 years ago, the Temple of Abu Simbel is one of the most significant monuments in Egyptian history and culture, especially from the Pharaonic era.
Of the two main temples carved into the rock, the Great Temple is the most famous: Ramses II commissioned it to deify himself, and his imposing 20-meter-high statues stand on its facade.
In 1964 UNESCO moved the entire site after Egypt's president announced plans for a dam and artificial lake near the temples: it was dismantled and rebuilt 65 meters higher and 210 meters further back.
We return to Aswan in the late afternoon to relax and enjoy the evening together.

On the road to Luxor: Kom Ombo and Edfu
Ancient buildings
Goodbye, Aswan, it's been a real pleasure! Today we head towards Edfu, with a quick stop along the way.
Kom Ombo: a place of worship built during the Ptolemaic dynasty. We stretch our legs while getting our daily dose of history!
Edfu: another ancient place of worship, dating back to the Old Kingdom and restored several times.
Its unique structure is called the "Telescope", and it won't take long to see why.
Towards Luxor and its East Bank!
Back on the road to a destination that's impossible not to have heard of: Luxor, here we come!
This was the site of Egypt's capital during the Middle Kingdom: the ancient city of Thebes, still one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
In the afternoon we explore the magnificent Karnak Temple complex, on the east bank of the Nile.
Over 1,600 years, every pharaoh or king left their mark here: it's practically an open-air history book.

The Valley of the Kings
An unforgettable experience!
Good morning, Luxor! What better way to start the day than a hot air balloon flight at dawn? A true Bucket List experience, once in a lifetime.
Yesterday the east bank, today the west bank: after so many archaeological sites, we feel like little Indiana Joneses ready to uncover more treasures.
Our guide leads us to the impressive Colossi of Memnon, standing tall for over 3,400 years.
Then on to the Valley of the Kings, home to the tombs of numerous pharaohs: for 500 years, the final resting place chosen by Egypt’s sovereigns.
More tombs!
We continue exploring Ancient Egypt at the funerary temple of Hatshepsut, also known as Djeser-Djeseru.
Dedicated to the solar deity Amun-Ra, it's also where Howard Carter, the famous archaeologist, once lived.
Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun, the pharaoh who reigned at the end of the XVIII dynasty, famously linked to the alleged curses on the archaeologists who unearthed it!

The Red Sea
A little well-deserved relaxation
We're nearing the end of our journey through Egypt, but something's still missing, right? Sand, a crystal-clear sea and some much-needed relaxation!
We leave Luxor early in the morning for Hurghada, where 24 hours of all-inclusive relaxation await. Have you already dug your swimsuit out of your suitcase?
In the afternoon, free time to unwind on the beach or join one of the many available excursions.

We return to Cairo
Museum, shopping and a final dinner
This morning we wake up early and head back to Cairo. The journey is quite long, but a great chance to look back on all we've experienced together: history, adventure and incredible sights.
Once in the city, we choose what to do: if time allows and we're still keen on Egyptian history, we might visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest in the world.
Or we simply explore the city centre for some last-minute shopping or a cup of tea.
Our final dinner together will be a special one: in just a few days, we've gone from strangers to friends. Let's raise a glass to this unforgettable adventure!
