Itinerary

This five-day express tour is the perfect way to experience the best of Morocco in a short time: rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes and warm hospitality in an enchanting country that has been fascinating travellers for centuries. We start in the vibrant, bustling streets of Marrakech, with its ancient medina and colorful souks, where the traditional way of life has remained unchanged for centuries.

Then we get a taste of desert life in the Agafay Desert: a night in a tented camp and a Bedouin dinner under the stars, a true desert experience you'll never forget. Next we move to the Atlantic coast and the charming town of Essaouira, known for its laid-back vibe and beautiful beaches. And the sunset? Not to be missed!

Welcome meeting: click here to see how it works!

Upon arrival we check into the hotel and get ready for the vibrant sights, tantalizing smells and lively sounds of Marrakech.

  • Up on a rooftop: we make new friends while soaking in the atmosphere from a rooftop bar, as the city comes alive at night.

  • Djemaa el Fna by night: we take in the Djemaa el Fna night market, where we can try delicious food and watch the street performers.

Let's raise a glass to the start of an unforgettable journey!

A smartphone is perched on a cactus, overlooking a vast desert landscape with snow-capped mountains in the distance under a blue sky.

A morning in Marrakesh

After the magic of Marrakesh by night, it's time to explore the city in daylight. Breakfast first, then we meet our local guide.

  • Into the old Medina: an in-depth tour of the atmospheric old Medina, its narrow streets and vibrant souks, diving into the culture and history of Marrakesh.

  • Through the ancient kasbah: a stroll admiring the intricate Moroccan architecture of the palaces and mosques.

  • Fresh juice break: we stop for an ice-cold fresh fruit juice, then carry on through the city.

A great way to get an authentic sense of Marrakesh!

The rock dunes of Agafay

In the afternoon we bid farewell to Marrakesh and head to the Agafay Desert.

  • Past Berber villages: on the way we pass traditional Berber villages, with the option to stop for green tea and views of the Atlas Mountains in the distance.

  • Relax or ride a camel? The mesmerizing rock dunes of Agafay are the backdrop for our desert camp: we can relax in the peaceful solitude or take a camel ride.

  • Sunset and Berber dinner: we find the perfect spot to watch the sunset, then gather around the campfire for a traditional Berber dinner under a sky full of stars.

  • Night in a Bedouin tent: we sleep in our tent, ready to wake up in the heart of the desert.

A market stall displays colorful ceramics, tagines, and leather bags in front of a large, rustic blue wooden door.

The road to Essaouira

Who's up for a desert sunrise at Agafay? We wake up early to watch a new day dawn over the spectacular rock dunes.

  • Towards the Atlantic: after breakfast, before the heat of the desert intensifies, we hit the road towards the cooler Atlantic coast.

  • Views from the window: we sit back, relax and watch the Moroccan landscape change as we prepare for the next leg.

Morocco by the sea

We finally reach Essaouira: on a vast, sweeping bay on Morocco's southwestern coast, against a backdrop of lush wooded hills, it's the seaside town we've been looking for. With a bustling marina, quaint white and blue houses and a souk-filled medina, there's plenty to keep us busy.

  • City walls or beach? We can walk the city walls that separate the medina from the Atlantic, or head to the beach to relax.

  • Fancy something active? On the beach we can try windsurfing or horse riding.

Sunset is not to be missed, as the fishing boats meet the golden sky!

An elevated view of a bustling city square crowded with people and market stalls at dusk, with terracotta buildings in the background.

A morning in Essaouira's Medina

Our final morning in Essaouira: time to relax or take one last stroll through the Medina, a UNESCO world heritage site whose unique mix of Moroccan and European architectural styles makes it a must-see.

  • Into the alleyways? In the narrow alleyways of whitewashed buildings there's always something new to discover.

  • A café on the square? Moulay Hassan Square sits at the heart of the Medina: the perfect spot to grab a seat at a café and watch the world go by.

Time to return to Marrakesh

As the tour comes to a close, we head back to vibrant Marrakesh. Bags dropped, there's more of this captivating city to discover.

  • Souks, palace or gardens? We can hunt for bargains in the souks, marvel at the stunning architecture of the Bahia Palace or visit the picturesque Jardin Majorelle, known for its rich blue walls and beautiful cacti.

  • Mint tea at sunset? As day turns to night, a refreshing mint tea on a café terrace around the main square is the way to watch the sunset.

  • Farewell dinner: dinner with the group to remember the adventure we've shared, then one last stroll through the bustling streets of Marrakesh before bidding farewell to this magical city.

The trip was really made by the dedication of the host to add on additional experiences like Hot Air Balloons, Quad Biking and Camel Riding. It was really great to sit back and go with the flow of the trip. Spending it with other like-minded individuals really added to the enjoyment

Fantastic trip and I would highly recommend to a friend! It really is an 'express' trip so not a lot of time at each place but certainly gives a nice flavour for the country, the culture, and all that is on offer. If anything it makes me want to go back :) Our travel coordinator Laura was amazing, great energy, very organised and really helped to make the trip a great one. Some things I would have liked is time at the Jardin Majorelle, YSL museum etc. as this was not in the itinerary and due to the schedule we had it didn't allow much time to add this in (depending on your flight times of course). The desert was not the wow that I was hoping for on New Years Eve but it was still really good to see and experience just maybe not on NYE! Everything else was fabulous though - the hot air balloon at sunrise was amazing, the Hammam was the entertainment highlight of the trip, and the cooking class was the culinary highlight and was a lot of fun :) All in all if you are thinking of it I would say go for it!
