Honduras is in the Central Standard Time (CST) zone and does not observe daylight saving time. If it is 12pm in the UK, it will be 6am in Honduras. If it is 12pm on the East Coast of the USA, it will be 11am in Honduras. Keep this in mind when planning your calls or meetings.

Honduras uses the Honduran Lempira as its currency. The exchange rate can vary, but as a rough guide:

• 1 GBP is approximately 30 Lempiras
• 1 USD is around 24 Lempiras
• 1 EUR is about 26 Lempiras

You can exchange your currency at banks, exchange offices, and some hotels. Always check the latest rates before exchanging.

In Honduras, you can pay with cash or cards. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in cities, especially at hotels, restaurants, and larger stores. However, in rural areas, cash is preferred. We suggest you always carry some cash for small purchases or in places where cards might not be accepted. ATMs are available in major cities, but make sure your card is compatible with international withdrawals.

In Honduras, tipping is appreciated but not mandatory.

• In hotels, you might tip bellhops and housekeeping a small amount, like a dollar or two per service.
• For taxi drivers, rounding up the fare is a nice gesture.

Always carry some local currency for tips, as smaller establishments might not accept credit cards.

In Honduras, Wi-Fi is commonly available in hotels, cafes, and restaurants in urban areas, but it might not be as reliable in rural regions. Since Honduras is not in Europe or the Schengen area, we suggest you buy a local SIM card or an e-SIM data plan for better connectivity on the go. Some popular providers are:

In Honduras, the official language is Spanish. While traveling, you might find these colloquial expressions useful:

Most people in tourist areas speak some English, but knowing a few Spanish phrases can make your trip smoother.
